Because we're all still waiting for the "definitely promised, gonna happen don't you worry about that" announcement about mandatory health insurance from two or three weeks ago
and i'm still smarting from the BIG announcement of a new multiple entry tourist visa to replace the outdated double entry..
2 weeks later we found out we'd need 5K in the bank for 6 months and letters from our employers. gee, thanks.
or the non-ox 10 year visa.. followed by 3M, mandatory health, etc, etc
or the digital nomad savior - the 'smart' visa ie 200K month min earnings
all touted big, all total <deleted>shows
so excuse me if i'll wait for the 'details' this time

I now know a few Thai landlords are not interested in registering their properties so the onus is on the farang to do it but why does the tenant have to do it?
Should crack down on the owners
why? because an owner, so inclined, would just tell them to eff off and there is nothing they can do about it (besides a paltry fine that they would then ignore too)
foreigners on the other hand are a soft touch.. no TM no visa for you farang..

98% of foreigner come to thailand don’t even know about this 30 document. Because the hotel do it for them.
ok, accepted! thais or anyone else for that matter, do not need to fill out a TM30 or anything similar in the UK.
they are welcome to stay or move anywhere they want without making a report.

i would go with interactive brokers over saxo as they have no custody fees only a monthly activity fee if you don't trade, but that is free if you have a balance over 100K (cash, stocks, bonds, etc)
very happy with them. easy to set up, minimal docs required and great support too

and yet i can happily walk into a pharmacy and buy as much nicotine gum as i want..
or into a 7/11 and buy all the cigarettes i want..
so why e-cigarettes??!
maybe its because they actually work in stopping smoking cigarettes?
wake me up when they ban NICOTINE full stop otherwise i'm just gonna file all these "warnings" under B&LLSH*T

30 years ago, in my country, the "foreign sponsor" was just called a husband.
it was bliss growing up in a family where mum had the "luxury" to stay at home and look after us.

i've stopped travelling around thailand because of this nonsense if they want my tourist dollars to be "spread around" as per TAT then they'll have to make it easier for me to do that, not harder.
till then, my fridge is stocked & pool is warm

27 minutes ago, Sjohno said:If you read further into the article an interesting comment is made (see below) and it appears that the new 800000 baht or 65000 baht/per month ruling for O-A visa has seen an exodus of 2400 expats from Phuket (or a halving of applications) to elsewhere or have they have made other visa arrangements. Apply that ratio across the country and it would be a significant amount of people with their lives uprooted! ????
“Col Kathathorn on Wednesday was unable to give a specific number of foreigners staying in Phuket on an O-A visa.
However, he did confirm that Phuket Immigration from January through December last year issued extensions to stay to 4,909 foreigners staying in Phuket on some form of Non-Immigrant O type visa.
From January to July this year, Phuket Immigration issued extensions to stay to 2,422 persons staying in Phuket on a form of Non-immigrant O type visa.”
the 2422 persons is for half year so assuming that ratio continues that puts it at 4844 or down less than 100
