  1. How warfare is changing........ A Two-Pound Ukrainian Drone Just Shot Down A 12-Ton Russian Helicopter It may be the first time a drone has destroyed a helicopter in mid-air. Ukrainian forces deploy more than 100,000 explosive first-person-view drones a month all along the 700-mile front line of Russia’s 28-month wider war on Ukraine. The drones smash into armored vehicles, chase down exposed infantry and follow artillery fire back to its origin in order to target Russian howitzers. And today one of the small quadcopter drones—remotely steered by an operator wearing a virtual-reality headset—shot down a Russian helicopter, apparently for the first time. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2024/07/31/a-two-pound-ukrainian-drone-just-shot-down-a-12-ton-russian-helicopter/
  2. What outcome are you claiming again? The crystal ball out again.
  3. IDF on ‘high alert’ as Biden vows US to defend Israel against ‘all threats from Iran’ The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday said it was on “high alert” as the country braces for a response to the assassinations this week of Hezbollah’s military chief in Beirut and Hamas’s leader in Tehran, but pledged the military knew how to handle any threat. https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-on-high-alert-as-biden-vows-us-to-defend-israel-against-all-threats-from-iran/ https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/08/01/readout-of-president-joe-bidens-call-with-prime-minister-netanyahu-of-israel-7/
  4. If you are so interested in the Iraq war and deck of cards you could post a topic on it. Are you claiming taking out the leadership is not progress?
  5. This is not the Iraq war though. That house of cards reflects facts of who has been killed.
  6. Also recommended by John Spencer Israel has not created a gold standard in civilian harm mitigation in war. That implies there is a standard in civilian casualties in war that is acceptable or not acceptable; that zero civilian deaths in war is remotely possible and should be the goal; that there is a set civilian-to-combatant ratio in war no matter the context or tactics of the enemy. But all available evidence shows that Israel has followed the laws of war, legal obligations, best practices in civilian harm mitigation and still found a way to reduce civilian casualties to historically low levels. https://www.newsweek.com/israel-has-created-new-standard-urban-warfare-why-will-no-one-admit-it-opinion-1883286
  7. Great article from a US general who visited Gaza. 8. that I can believe that is possible. Yea I thought you could believe that complete nonsense.....
  9. Two names as cropping up as likely replacements. Khaled Mashaal, a senior Hamas political leader in exile, is expected to be chosen as the terror group’s leader to replace Ismail Haniyeh who was assassinated in Iran early this morning, Hamas sources tell the Reuters news agency, echoing reports and estimations cited by Hebrew media. Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya, who is based in Qatar and has headed Hamas negotiators in indirect Gaza truce talks with Israel, has also been a possibility for the leadership as he is a favorite of Iran and its allies in the region, the report says. https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/who-will-replace-haniyeh-as-hamas-chief-reports-name-khaled-mashaal-as-frontrunner/
  10. Israel Has Nearly Wiped Out Hamas' Military Leadership Estimates pulled from sources from the Israeli military suggest up to 80 percent of the senior leadership of Hamas' armed faction have been taken out, said Burcu Ozcelik, a senior research fellow for Middle East security with the London-based Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) think tank. Israel has taken out up to four of every five senior Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades commanders, Ozcelik said, plus an estimated 15,000-20,000 trained Hamas fighters. The Israeli military says it is committed to tearing apart Hamas' chain of command, destroying its infrastructure—such as the miles of underground tunnels snaking under Gazan cities—and killing Hamas operatives. Experts say taking out the group's leadership is a tactic designed to grind down Hamas until the organization is unable to function effectively, ultimately forcing it to agree to unfavorable ceasefire terms and return the remaining hostages. https://www.newsweek.com/israel-hamas-commanders-killed-gaza-strip-1933104
  11. Exactly, the assassination of Haniyeh was on the cards from day one as it is for all Hamas leaders. The poster your responding to is unable to make a comment unless its a criticism of Israel even when this was exactly what's needed, targeted strikes that take out the leaders and minimal civilian casualties. Indeed, Sinwar calls the shots and any ceasefire deals are done with his permission only and we know he has been holding out for months, there was no indication he was going to change his mind this time. "US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that the fate of the ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip is “down to one person”. Sinwar, identified as the key orchestrator of the October 7 massacre in Israel, is reportedly unconcerned with his own mortality but faces increasing scrutiny over the significant suffering in Gaza. According to Burns, US intelligence believes Sinwar is hiding in the tunnels beneath Khan Younis, his birthplace in Gaza, and is the pivotal figure in deciding whether Hamas will accept a ceasefire deal. Hamas has been left in "a state of shock" and there is already talk of his replacement. Difficult times still ahead. "the looming succession process could be lengthy and chaotic - defined by rivalries between those keen to reach a negotiated settlement to the war and extremist elements more closely allied with Iran." The current state of Hamas: Hamas leader & deputy are dead Most terror chiefs in Gaza were killed Almost no ability or desire to fire rockets Terror tunnels turned into death traps Daily death toll keeps rising Gaza terror base ruined Some more details on his death. Quite an operation, there was no airstrike, it was a bomb planted in his room. More details of how the Mossad assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh via @BarakRavid ➡️ Israeli intelligence learned which facility — and which exact room — Haniyeh stayed in during his visits to Tehran. ➡️ The bomb was planted in his room in advance. ➡️ The bomb was a high-tech device that used artificial intelligence. ➡️ It was detonated remotely by Mossad operatives who were on Iranian soil after receiving intelligence that Haniyeh was indeed in the room. 13. The image comes from a video........... Ukraine has received its first batch of long-awaited American-made F-16 fighter jets that will help the country fight back against Russia's superior air power, according to news reports. A top advisor to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Mykhailo Podolyak, said he would neither confirm nor deny Ukraine had received the F-16s. Other Ukrainian officials were similarly tight-lipped. However, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said on X, quote, "F-16s in Ukraine. Another impossible thing turned out to be totally possible." https://www.npr.org/2024/08/01/g-s1-14698/ukraine-receives-u-s-f-16-fighter-jets

  19. Jeez, always looking to put downers on things when there is no need.............. The first Ukrainian pilots have completed F-16 fighter jet training at a military base in Arizona, with others soon to follow this summer. "The first batch has graduated, and other Ukrainian pilots are finishing their training here by the end of August," Arizona National Guard spokesperson Capt. Erin Hannigan told VOA. https://www.voanews.com/a/first-ukrainian-pilots-graduate-from-f-16-training-in-us/7634529.html In addition to US the UK and other countries are also training pilots for Ukraine.
  20. Result! Iran says Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran. 21. Back to supporting Ukraine and its defense from the illegal invasion. US will provide its own weapons for F-16s to be delivered to Ukraine, WSJ reports The U.S. will arm dozens of F-16 jet fighters being sent to Ukraine with American-made missiles and other weapons, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on July 30. Ukraine is awaiting at least 79 F-16s from the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, and Norway, with up to 20 expected to arrive this year. The Pentagon has limited stocks and production capacities, but it will supply Ukrainian F-16s with air-to-ground munitions, precision-guidance kits for bombs, and advanced air-to-air missiles in sufficient quantities to meet Ukraine's most urgent needs, a senior U.S. official told WSJ. https://kyivindependent.com/us-will-provide-its-own-weapons-for-f-16s-to-be-delivered-to-ukraine-wsj-reports/ US will send $1.7 billion in military aid to Ukraine WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. will send $1.7 billion in military aid to Ukraine, officials announced on Monday, including an array of munitions for air defense systems, artillery, mortars and anti-tank and anti-ship missiles. The package includes $1.5 billion in funding for long-term contracts through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, and $200 million in immediate military aid taken from Pentagon stockpiles. The latest infusion of weapons comes a bit more than two weeks after the NATO summit in Washington, where allies focused a significant amount of time on shoring up support for Ukraine as it fends off Russian forces. https://apnews.com/article/ukraine-russia-weapons-war-military-aid-2bc961d302b86c54e424a28ffed30cc2
  22. Excellent news, the commander of the terrorists Hezbollah who ordered the rocket attack on the Druze/Arab community has been eliminated. Israel claims it killed senior Hezbollah commander in strike on Beirut Israel says it has killed a top Hezbollah commander after carrying out a strike on a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut. At least one person was killed and a number of others wounded in the explosion in Dahiyeh, a stronghold of the Lebanese armed group. The Israeli military says Fuad Shukr was the target of an "intelligence-based elimination" by fighter jets. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1rwxyjydlyo
