I just finished reading a story on another Thailand based site. The owner always leaves some sort of comment after the story. You know what site it is.

What is really starting to piss me off is this assumption or so called red-flag that if a Thai woman can speak reasonable or good English, this is immediately suspicious and probably some kind of Freelancer or (ex-)BG.

What is it with some of these guys? There are PLENTY of Thai women that speak English very well and are not scam artists, freelancers, BGs or otherwise.

Many checklistz you see about characteristics that a (Thai) woman should have in order to qualify as good wife material mentions: None or minimal English ability. <deleted>? The MOST important thing for any relationship to succeed is to be able to communicate. And then some BS about how the man should first learn Thai to a reasonable level. Come on! If she can speak English then what's the problem?

My fiancee taught herself English because she wanted to expand her education and ability to communicate. That does help in Hotel Management. Not to mention when you deal with computers a lot and are interested in them. There are women in this country who are straight up and not after your money.

Some may scoff and place some condescending or insinuating comment after this. Like they have before...

Go ahead, it will just illustrate what kind of embittered and blinkered losers they are.

My gf is thinking of buying some land from her Mother's sister but says that she is unable to sell it by law so the deal will have to be handshake only. She says she will inform the village head but she has fears that once the Aunt dies her children may come and try and claim the land as theirs. I have no actual involvement in this whatsoever but she has saved up nearly a year to buy this for both of us (she is the breadwinner) and I don't want to see her getting screwed.

Does anyone knoe about this law? I assumed it was brought in when the government was assigning land ownership to areas with no official records. The government 'gave' the land to the farmers but restricted their ability to sell. Is this true? She says other people have done it like this but I'm still nervous for her and was hoping someone here ould shed some light on the subject.

We had to deal with a similar problem in early 2000, best advice, YOU should find a good English speaking lawyer in your area. It can be very complicate their could be a large family tree and they smell a little free baht they will come out of the woodwork. NUFF SAID, LAWYER

A bit on the expensive side, but the bright side it is a heck of a lot better than Moscow or Tokoyo if you are reasonable you do decent on Bt50,000 a month. It all come down to your lifestyle. I have friends that live just outside Bangkok that live with family on much less than Bt50,000(3brm, 2bath) this include his cable bill, power(electric Bill) water plus other day to day expenses, again it LIFESTYLE.

Thaksin vows to fight on for justice

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra vowed Saturday night that he will not give up but will continue to fight along side his red-shirted supporters for justice.

He was making a phone-in address to some 20,000 supporters who gathered at fund raising dinner at Wat Phai Khiew temple in Don Mueang district at 7:30 pm.

He thanked his supporters for go on fighting for him and he would never give up until he receives justice and until real democracy returns to the country.

"I would like to thank you all for standing by me. I'll fight along you. I will not give up as long as justice has not returned and democracy ha s not returned," Thaksin said.

"I don't wan to look for trouble but I am seeking for justice. Now, the situation has come to its worst. And I was the first one to become a victim so I'll seek the truth along with you."

The answer to 'why' has to do with my Thai 'ex'. She has a very annoying habit of grabbing my phone and answering it before I get a chance to 'screen' the call. The end result (on 2 occasions) is that she has totally killed a blossoming relationship, (by telling the good lady that she is happily married to me and that I am cheating on her etc etc, (which is rather annoying since we divorced 8 months ago and she already had a new baby from another man...)

I try to look after my phone, but in a busy day it can get left lying about.

So, I need a phone whereby she will be unable to answer any incoming call without entering the pin number.

Any suitable phone model is ok if it needs to be coded in. I'll just buy a new phone. I don't need bell and whistle phones, (although if it supports java etc for the coding then it's likely to have bells and whistles anyway...)
