  1. You should be absolutely buzzing if you get him
  2. I love the idea of giving Zidane and Savage a go, but I think it's borderline irresponsible to throw them in so young when we are in such a bad situation. Garner is ready though. Ten Hag has said he will drop people who won't perform. So let's see if he's as good as his word.
  3. And he's only 27. We aren't talking about someone at the Schweinsteiger end of his career.
  4. On the other hand, he's a World Cup winner that is available for an initial fee of 15M (according to reports). It's not like we are breaking the bank to get him in. If he can improve the midfield, let's do it and work on bringing more in.
  5. Assuming Rabiot goes through, how many more through the door do you expect before the end of the window?
  6. Or is it a phrase you lazily threw out there, but didn't have a clue what it meant yourself?
  7. What is "the transfer rulebook" though ? We are faced with the dilemma of sorting short and long term problems.
  8. The whole thing is puzzling for me. You don't pursue a player unless you've been told by him or his agent he is interested in coming. I'm not naiive enough to think that other clubs wouldn't be more attractive, so he could be using us as as a plan B in case he doesn't get interest from Chelsea or whoever. I think this could drag on right til the end of the window. I'd expect a lot more business to be done.
  9. Listened to him. I find Goldbridge very entertaining but is about as temperemental is a woman on period. He is another one who doesn't understand the media landscape, but thinks hes does because he has a couple of contacts. Just because we haven't heard about something before, doesn't mean it hasn't been in the works. This may just mean that the De Jong trail has come to an end, and this was our plan B.
  10. I'm not keen on Arnautovic, but isn't Rabiot a better bet than McT? Personally mate I'd start Martinez and Garner in midfield next game
  11. The transfer policy should and has been a combination of addressing the immediate problems with experienced pros (Erikssen + Rabiot) and building for the future (Malacia and Martinez). For me the problem is the numbers, we needed far more fresh faces and more out of the door. Just think for yourself a little @mrbojangles . The media says it's a depserate policy, or is it just that we are playing <deleted>? Any player bought while we are playing <deleted> will be tagged as desperate. Just look past what you are being fed for once.
  12. Do you think Rabiot will be getting 200 quid a week?! ????
  13. I guess he'll know more than Ten Hag who sanctioned the transfer, or the qualified data analysts that would have studied him already. <deleted> it... Ten Hag out Howson in I say
  14. OK lads good, you've put your cards on the table. You think Rabiot is <deleted>. Personally I don't mind that signing, he's proven quality in an area it's not hard to make an improvement. Arnautavic would be a different story.... But let's not forget our track record of turning 'bad boys' into club legends...... 'Le Enfant Terrible' springs to mind
  15. Howson is just a dude with a trendy beard and a camera. I'm not affiliated to him in any way. If you are going to watch united fan channels at least watch good ones. If Rabiot has been bought as a defensive mid, assists etc aren't that relevant
  16. That means you are saying Scott McTominay is a better player than Rabiot. Congratulations on knowing nothing about football.
  17. Consider this though.... If we'd have paid 50M for the next big thing, everyone would have said that we don't have enough leaders or characters in the team and we need more experience. The truth is while we are playing <deleted> everything will be ridiculed. Btw I don't believe the Arnutavic deal will go through
  18. A load of players left early, which is probably more concerning. Judging on yesterday, we have bigger problems to worry about than one of the greatest players of all time being on our books.
  19. I disagree, I actually think Ronaldo's ability and his pride at his own performances still make him a better option than many other strikers, even if his heart's not in it. Long term, he needs to and will go, but for now he might help us.
  20. Agree with most of that. It's plain to see now that we needed a proper clearout - 10 in, 10 out. So many of these players have only known failure the past few years. They immediately go into a default setting of being <deleted> scared. We needed a proper clearout to change the look and vibe of the team. Only 2 things I would question pal - one, I really don't think we can boot Donny out without giving him a proper chance in his position (link up with De Jong could be good if that happens). And also, I just don't see us being able to bring in anyone with the same quality as Ronaldo for now, and so why not keep him.
  21. This is what I'm thinking / hoping mate. A couple of wins and some goals from Ronny and it will be a very different picture!
  22. After a generally positive pre-season this week I get the feeling everything is going tits up at the wrong time. Martial hamstring means the front 3 that had looked really promising won't be playing. And the Ronaldo issue drags on... @RedArmy @Sparkles can you give me any cause for optimism....?
