  1. Wanted to research phones on 3rd floor Kad Suen Kaew. Not today boy-o.

HUGE crowd of students having a group dance contest. Maybe 300+ teens dancing, screaming, yelling shoulder-to-shoulder in a tight space with questionable ventilation. Many wore masks, but not those on stage.

Very loud. One had to scream to be heard.

I get it. Kids want to have fun, especially in these Covid years.

But one has to consider the local clubs closed down in CM…and wonder…what’s the difference?

I got out fast. I was told that the Dance Off runs tomorrow as well.

  2. An update at Immigration near Airport.

They seem only to have drive thru and no one was there at 12:45 (opens at 1pm).

Just stood there wondering if a car was required, when the window popped open. Although I had copies of all my passport pages, all he wanted was TM47 form. Literally 30 seconds, I was done.

    Super fast! Recommended.

  3. Here’s one from the blue: I’m looking to buy a Kaleidoscopes for a friends little boy and would rather buy it local if possible.

Any ideas of where one Kaleidoscope can be found?

(And yes, I know Lazada has them….I just wonder if anyone has seen one in CM ????)

  5. Saw this posted online today…..might be of interest:

A survey by Rocket Media lab of 1,136 food delivery riders gave some interesting stats on the fast developing business in Thailand.

It has been a business that has been fuelled by customer habits in the pandemic and work from home rules.

Kasikorn's research arm has said that it is worth 5.31 to 5.58 billion baht this year, up between 18.4% and 24.4% on 2020 figures.

There have been many protests by delivery men and women complaining their companies change the rates at the drop of a hat and that their legal status is not properly defined so their benefits are not necessarily enshrined in law.

Lineman and Panda riders have protested in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

The survey suggested that 80% of riders were male, 14% female and the rest didn't say.

    44% were aged 23-30 and 31.69% were aged 31 to 40.

7% were aged 41 and over.

Just over half the riders had been to high school.

Half had only themselves to take care of, but 38% needed money for 1-2 others and 23% were looking after 3-4 people in the family.

About 46% said they earned enough, others said they couldn't save or the money left them short each month.

    Half earn about 10-15 baht, 27% 15-20,000 and 10% over 20,000 a month.

For 60% it was their main job, 40% treated it as a second income.

They had come from a wide variety of previous positions they had either lost or resigned from.

Many stated that concerns over liability in road accidents represented a key concern.

  6. Wasn’t there some hulabaloo with Food Panda and it’s CM drivers a few weeks ago? Did it get resolved?

One thing I recently noticed was a small delivery charge now on my favorite restaurants. I asked the driver if this baht goes to him but he said No, it goes to the company.

Recent experience at Grace - they are charging additional 300 baht for infection protection as they called it out of covid…

you don’t give antibiotics for a virus that you don’t have….and they give it 30 minutes b/f your appointment

sorry but this is bad medicine…when in doubt and are clueless, let’s throw antibiotics at it…

antibiotics should be administered only for a known specific bacteria infection…

I’m sorry but what exactly did you get? A mouthwash?

They have about 10 or 12 dentists there. They are all specialists. Different dentists for root canals, orthodontics, implants, cleaning and cosmetics, etc. When you first come in in you will see Dr. Korakot (she runs the place). She will evaluate what your issues are and make appointments with the appropriate specialist. Like I said I have had a lot of complicated work done there and have been treated by a number of the specialist dentists. They have all been excellent. It is pricey compared to some places but I think it is worth it.

    Thank you. ????

Go with Grace. They are excellent. I have had a lot of complicated work done there over a ten year period. Much better than any dentists that I ever had in the US.

Can you recommend a particular dentist?

  10. I need a thorough dental checkup and live in Nimmenhaimen area.

Does anyone here use Grace Dental and can recommend a dentist they really like?

If not at Grace, please feel free to recommend at other clinics.
Money is not an issue if the professionalism and work is top notch. ????

To finish up. Yes, the clinic is directly opposite Suriwong Book Centre. There is a small car park at the front and a larger one behind on the left hand side. There may be other places to go, not sure.

You have to go to the office at the front facing the road. Not completely consistent with what you want but definitely copy of front page of passport. One mate had a copy of his Wall of CM registration with the 13 digit no, one did not. As with all things Thai take a copy of everything!

Very easy, 5 minutes max we were the only ones there.

Receipt provided with a date to collect in one weeks time.

I did ask if I could get this passport having had two jabs outside Thailand but got a polite 'no'

    Best of luck

    Thank you.

If possible and for curiosity sake, maybe you can post the passport for us to see, once you receive it.
I’m wondering how official it looks.

it seems with international travel the more prepared you are the better. Also, may have value in search of a booster overseas.

Just for info. After your second jab you can use the certificate to get your details on line by using the mor prom app. Scanning the QR code in to Line also provides an on line record.

If you want an old fashioned 'vaccine passport' take your certificate and passport to the health clinic opposite the UOB bank on Sridonchai Road. 50 Baht, takes a week.

Can you give me another landmark where this clinic is? Across from the book center?

The Mor Prom app is available in the Google Play Store. As long as you have that see no reason why you cant download to a laptop etc. Being a computer dummy not sure how to provide a link but if you just type in Mor Prom in to the store it is the top one. Green background with a white cross. 5m odd downloads. It does say Mor Prom but in Thai. Good luck.

Thank you! You just saved me a trip to McCormick.

I downloaded the app onto my iPad via Chonburi Hosptal, and with a little fiddling, put in my 13 digit Wall number and phone number, then got sent a SMS message for password. Wallah! My vaccine certification came up, with my QR code. Added the QR code to LINE search and Ministry of Public Health came up with my information.

Things change so fast that by next year, every major western country will have herd immunity and don't really care whether you are vaccinated or not.

More countries in the future might accept Sinovac/Astrazeneca once they figured out that the negative perception is due to political propaganda.

It is 12 countries in Europe including the five below. Quote

According to a new tool developed by VisaGuide.World, which enables travellers to check the validity of their vaccine when travelling abroad, the following EU/Schengen Area countries accept Sinovac as valid proof of immunity:

    1. Austria
    2. Finland
    3. Greece
    4. Iceland
    5. Netherlands
    6. Spain
    7. Switzerland

In the meantime, five other countries located on the continent of Europe also accept the Sinovac vaccine as valid proof of immunity for travel. These countries are:

    1. Albania
    2. Armenia
    3. Georgia
    4. Macedonia
    5. Serbia

    Always liked the Netherlands. ????

Did anyone have any side effects after the first jab?

I had a mild headache for six hours after the first jab but everything seems to be normal now.

Just a mildly tender shoulder pain from the shot itself. And that has lessened considerably.

I’m hoping after the 2nd jab, we can get some information on antibodies and efficacy. I’m willing to volunteer and have blood drawn. I do believe we will have some protection from serious illness and/or hospitalization.

That explained why you stated 'it went smoothly' because you jumped queue. I had an appointment today but I was not brought to the front of the extremely long line which snaked to the car park.

I was in the queue for one hour, then they fumbled with the registration list even though I showed them my appointment, not giving clear instructions on the next step..... It was clearly a big mess.

Yes, but I had no foreknowledge of such a jump. I just got lucky. But it did make it a lot easier. That car park line was long and really needs to be handled better.

Given the amount of people who registered with The Wall, maybe they should have been given priority before walk-ins. Again, I registered, am over 60, and heard not a peep. It was frustrating. I took a chance by showing up.

Sorry, today it was a big mess and the queue was too long. There are so many middle points/steps to go to and the instructions weren't clear on what the next step is.

I wouldn't call that 'going smoothly'. I can't comment about the queue situation before today.

It seems that it started becoming worse when someone announced 'walk-in' on the internet.

By no means perfect. Thankfully the cloud cover helped a bit. I was at the end of a long line when a young lady asked if anyone was over 60, and we were brought to the front of the line. So that was a nice surprise.

Personally, since I did register on The Wall, it would have been nice to have an appointment only set up first. But I never got an SMS, so I had to take my chances today.
