If anyone is still on the lookout for an Xiaomi air purifier, the Mi store at Promenada has the 2s and the Pro in stock today.  The prices are higher than Lazada, but not grey market so one can assume that service will be available if needed and you can have one working today.

Boy, a little shout of ❤️. I went to Promenada, the ghost mall, and bought the 2s. 5900 baht. I can live with that. Plugged it in my little studio apartment, went from 185 to 26 in an hour.  Nice little machine, hope it holds up.

Thank you for sharing the info. My hero for today.

ps- The M1 store didn’t open until Noon, instead of 11 am. The morning girl overslept. This is Thailand!

"Finally all he asked for was some proof of money in a US Bank"

why? That just makes zero sense

The US bank is where I withdraw my monthly allowance via ATM.

I pay myself the monthly stipend that is listed on the income affidavit letter. I’m still too young for social security. Nor do I have a pension.

He wanted some proof that I had funds that would support the letter.

This is what should happen in my IMM ofc in Chanthaburi as my income letter will be less than 6 months old when I apply for my extension. My U.S. bank statements were all the back up I needed last year with the embassy letter. Hope it works out that way this year.

    Thanks for the post...

Sure thing. I have a feeling the attitude of the officer is important. The fellow who handled me was so nice, so willing to help, that I feel it made the difference.

At first he seemed to be steering me towards the 800,000 baht deposit, but I didn’t get flustered, smiled, was polite, and mentioned that I can prove my income from my American bank account. I also brought with me all my ATM slips in a plastic bag, showed him how I receive my income at an ATM.

It's still there or at least another one is. I was in there yesterday and it's the same one from months back I visited.

Yes, they just reopened....looks almost the same. Front register is different, and some different items, but the 20 Baht store is back!

    This is Thailand!

They repeat the games later in the day, but can’t find schedule. Any idea of when they will repeat the LAC/BAL and PHI/CHI games on Sunday?

How long was that store in Kad Suan Kaew? I only shopped there for a month and then it just closed and disappeared.  Know of any other 20 baht shops nearby?

Hard to say. Stumbled upon it maybe 6-8 months ago, tucked away back on the 2nd floor. Always looked busy.

When I bought my earbuds, one fellow said “30 Baht!” The girl next to him said “No, 20 Baht!” LOL.

Unfortunately don’t know of any others in the neighborhood.

  7. Sad to saunter by one of my favorite stores in Kad Suen Kaew Mall...and it is no longer there.

The 20 Baht Store was marvelous for plates, glasses, silverware, scissors, assorted kitchen wares...bought a baseball cap there...along with some earbuds for my phone. Got a Halloween mask (good one! scared the cleaning lady!) Nice Tupperware-like stuff. Take a risk, only out 20 baht.

Alas, all good things come to an end. For whatever reason, they left, seemingly overnight.  Someone told me to new place, farther away in Old City. Not sure where. Not sure why. Oh, well.

Tea bags are 175bht for 100, and you can use each bag twice. 1bht/drink

    3 in 1 coffee is 3bht/packet

So coffee should be 3x the price of tea.

That’s what I thought....Tea is usually cheaper than Coffee back in the States.

Here are some figures, all taken as 'average US mid-west' based on USFDA charts.

    1 lb tea - $100.00  -  makes 200 cups approx.

    1 lb coffee - $5.00 -  makes 48 cups approx.

.50 to brew a cup of tea

    vs.

.10 for a cup of coffee

    Thanks for the info.

  10. I’ve noticed that a cup of tea is generally 10-20 baht more than coffee in some of the places I frequent.

Is it a function of more coffee drinking, hence a lower price? Cheaper for beans?

One shop buys Twinnings from the store, and makes a nice profit from individual sales.

    Just curious....

  11. 90 day report was up on November 12th.

The paperwork was sent on October 31st and received the next day. (EMS)

It was mailed back to me on November 12th, received November 13th.

The date the paperwork was processed was November 4th.

So alls well that ends well, BUT be patient, wait a few days after your due date.

Should be easy to roll up currently with BJ on the case alternatively mail in or go across the road to the agent and they will be happy to it for you - for a consideration!

On mailing, my date is Nov 12th. Is it too late if I send something in on Oct 31st? I read 15 days is needed, but the writing is vague on that matter.

    Sam,

you can do it by mail, no need to even go there.

works like clockwork....once you have done it once you will never look back, except perhaps to wonder why everyone doesn’t do it by this method......

Yes, I’ve tried it once on my iPad, then a friends computer. Couldn’t get past the first page. Told me to contact Immigration. I’m not giving up, but gosh, wish it was easier to do.

So....might have to take the usual route.

Brilliant idea. Imagine how the Nimman streets would liven up if there was no traffic, even for one night a week? Not holding my breath, the one way system which was in place for a while, and actually a huge relief, was cancelled as well.

Then there's the constant demolitions and renovations. It's never ending. And no longevity to speak of, only a handful of businesses are trading long enough to establish brand loyalty.

Are Nimmanhaemin retailers uniting to at least try to take a little control over their area? A traffic-free day should be first on the agenda. It's going downhill fast with landlords selling out to Chinese who create shops for Chinese. Soon only cheap cosmetics, dried durian and latex pillows for sale!

Signage only in Chinese, how disrespectful to Thailand!

At least there are rays of hope near the Sirimangkalajarn end with some interesting restaurants and shops opening due to lower rents, but for how long?

One night would be a good start! Street Festivals would also work.
