Means nothing. So was Pita and look how the corrupt system that protects the establishment's power and wealth dealt with him. -
Field trips don’t hurt students, poorly-maintained transport does : PM
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Maybe or maybe it was just a cheap option. The school is a Wat school so down the bottom of the pile. -
Field trips don’t hurt students, poorly-maintained transport does : PM
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
No it won't. It won't make the families whose children die on the roads everyday feel much better either. What's the solution? Do you have one? Everyday I see clapped out old buses transporting kids on school excursions. The fact is that so much of the bus rolling stock here is old and poorly maintained. These buses are cheaper to hire and directors of schools will more than likely go for the cheapest option. -

There are kids on buses going for excursions almost every day of the school year all across Thailand. This incident which yes is a tragedy and yes poor maintenance probably played a part doesn't detract from the fact that this is an isolated incident. As for going to school being "fraught with danger" tell me it's not the case that just getting to and from school isn't dangerous in and of itself. I will bet my bottom dollar baht that more kids have died going to or from school (more than likely on a motorcycle and helmetless) than have died in bus crashes/fires whilst on school excursions. -
Thailand’s Bold Move: Decriminalising Sex Work Sparks National Debate

You don't get out much do you. Russian sex workers have been in Pattaya for a very long time time as have African sex workers in Bangkok. -

I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous and tasteless comment. School excursions are a legitimate part of education. This one ended in tragedy. -

Nothing will be done. People here ride motorcycles without helmets. They do this whilst speeding past the BIB. As for the headline well that's just ridiculous. Field trips are of course an important part of education but the truth is what actually hurts the students is the educational system (public) itself. What's happened is an absolute tragedy no doubt about it, and you'd have to be one cold hearted MF not to be touched by it, but in a country where corruption is endemic it doesn't come as a surprise.- 83 replies

From idol to outcast: Thaksin devotee switches allegiances
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Complete rubbish. They were true supporters until Thaksin jumped into bed with the enemy; the "military dinosaurs." He sold out and he sold out big time. A complete and and utter self-serving rshole who disregarded his supporter base and did what he said he'd never do. PTP are finished and this will be evidenced at the next election if the "military dinosaurs" don't step in before that with their tanks. -

This woman is a microcosm of a plethora of PTP supporters who will not forget that Thaksin is a self-serving traitor of their support. PTP will pay dearly at the next election for his treacherous move of jumping into bed with the enemy. -
Thai Court Orders Extradition of Vietnamese Activist Amid Rights Fears

I think you need to re-think your post. Thais who stand up against the establishment are very much the opposite of safe. Section 112 and being disappeared springs to mind. p.s. IMHO no image is better than a sht AI image as per this article. -
Thai Parliament Set to Decide on Controversial Liquor Bill Today
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Re-write: the Move Forward Party, was corruptly blocked from forming the government in 2023 and eventually dissolved for threatening the royalist military establishment's control on power and wealth.- 31 replies

Thai Parliament Set to Decide on Controversial Liquor Bill Today
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand might "controversially" leap into the 21st Century. Well I don't think this is a good idea. Progression should be quelled by all corrupt means possible. Does this bill also cover the absolutely anachronistic prohibition of sales of alcohol midnight to eleven in the morning and two to five in the afternoon. I hope not. This would be a very bad idea. Imagine the turmoil if one could actually go to the supermarket at 10:30 am or 2:30 pm and purchase alcohol. It's obviously a serious health issue and possibly a threat to national security.- 31 replies

Used car market in a jam as electric vehicles spark trouble

An interesting comment. It would seem that the international market may not be in agreement with you. ICE hybrids seem to be very popular. -

A brain a little less developed than a teenager IMHO. Bit like people losing it like a baby having a tantrum and shooting someone else dead. -

EC dismisses complaints for party dissolution, insufficient evidence

Thaksin has never left. Always been in control of PTP whatever country he was in. Still in control. -
EC dismisses complaints for party dissolution, insufficient evidence
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I sort of agree but IMO it doesn't matter how big the brown envelopes are. Thaksin was brought back for a reason. If PTP are ever seen to go against their masters in any way that threatens the power, the wealth or the status quo of the royalist military establishment the axe will fall. -

Absolutely 100% corrupt and should be jailed along with their equally corrupt partners in crime in the CC. The only complaints they will act on are against those who challenge the status quo of the royalist military establishment. -

Major Storm Won't Hit Thailand Like in 2011, official confirms
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"We are ready to help but we haven't got a request," said a US defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "There were two channels (in the Thai government)," the defense official told AFP. "One was saying 'Yes' and one was saying 'No.'" This clearly states that channels of communication were open and that the US navy had offered assistance. As I said Thailand declined the offer of assistance and this is evidenced in as much as not issuing a formal request for help. Help was there, offered but was declined. I was here and clearly remember this being in the news. -

Flood-hit Thailand declines offer of help: US Navy WASHINGTON, October 25, 2011 (AFP) - The US Navy has withdrawn several ships sent to help with relief efforts in flood-hit Thailand after receiving "mixed" messages from the Bangkok government, a defense official said Monday. The USS George Washington aircraft carrier and other ships were deployed to the area on October 16 for potential disaster relief work as Thailand faced massive flooding from monsoon rains, said Navy spokesman Lieutenant Commander John Perkins. But the US military never received a formal request from the Thai government and the three-ship aircraft carrier group along with a fourth ship, the USS Kidd, were released and left the area on Friday, said Perkins, spokesman for the US Pacific Fleet based in Hawaii. "We are ready to help but we haven't got a request," said a US defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "There were two channels (in the Thai government)," the defense official told AFP. "One was saying 'Yes' and one was saying 'No.'"
