  1. "After next month’s election, senators will still be able to join the newly elected MPs in a joint parliamentary session to vote on the next prime minister." This is the elephant in the room. The elephant outside of the room if you like is the military.
  2. So it seems as though it's good for the economy. Societal problems? Not really especially when compared to yaba that's for sure. Narcotic? No. Addictive? No. Should it be avaible for adults to purchase? Yes. Can the jeannie be put back into the bottle. Doubt it the only thing that will happen is it will be criminalized and go back underground. Prohibition does not and has never worked.
  3. Need 50% + 1 otherwise a coalition needs to be formed. The 250 unelected senators also pose a problem for the choice of PM and of course a coupt can never be ruled out.
  4. Apart from this... and this.... som tam is vegetarian. Now som tam thai if you took the dried krill out wiith no pla ra it would be 100% vegetarian. Dried krill is...
  5. Snake head fish is delicious. Not sure about the liver fluke danger though as its cooked.
  6. I might be wrong but that picture in the article looks like som tam thai just called tam thai. More of a milder version with dried krill and peanuts. Article doesn't mention pla ra. If you don't know what pla ra is (every one in Thailand should) it's fermented fish. This is som tam pu pla ra. Pu is the crab. Sayamia Bankokensis which is a rice paddy crab. Pla ra is the fermented fish sauce. Looks like this.... Personally I think it stinks real bad. This is added to the salad raw. You can get cooked versions. Cooked pla ra is safer because raw pla ra can have a little surprises in it which can lead to liver cancer. The surprise is this... Som tam should be so spicy you can hardly eat it. I watch my wife eating it, sweat pouring off her face, facial contortions, in great discomfort but that's how it has to be. I'm sure the article can not be about this.
  7. Hope they make them better here than in China.
  8. I've had colds and I've had covid. Still here mate. No hospital. Just a bit sick for a few days. When it comes to Omicron it's been the same for every one I know whose had it, mild except for one. He was asymptomatic. Please don't misrepresent what I said. I said for the majority of people it's a mild virul infection that shares similar symptoms as the common cold and this is the true. Coronavirus symptoms vs cold The Omicron variant (the most dominant strain in the UK) has symptoms that are very similar to a cold. Symptoms such as a headache, a sore throat, a runny nose, muscle aches, coughing or sneezing can be symptoms of the Omicron variant, or a cold. https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/news/coronavirus-and-your-health/coronavirus-symptoms-cold-flu-or-coronavirus#:~:text=tell the difference.-,Coronavirus symptoms vs cold,Omicron variant%2C or a cold. As Omicron evolves it does come with different symptoms but none are considered severe or life threatening for the majority as a cold is not life threatening for the majority. You're making a mountain out of a molehill. 23,000 (according to the WHO data you linked) died in the 28 days (13 Mar-9 April) out of a population of around 8 billion. Sure those figures are not accurate with under reporting, figures from China can't be trusted, we don't know the age and comorbidity breakdown but it's a still a relatively small number of deaths. Road deaths globally are 1.3 million according to the WHO. Ourworldindata puts last years deaths globally at 67.1 million. I guess it's all perspective and and individuals situation.
  9. Ok. So globally it has a death rate of around 0.00028%. How many of them with comorbidities? If you think Omicron is dangerous that fine. You keep wearing your mask and washing your hands. For me I view it as no more dangerous than the common cold of which both share similar symptoms.
  10. https://ourworldindata.org/ It's over. There is no pandemic now. Omicron is endemic. Omicron for the majority of the global population is not fatal. Omicron for the majority of the global population is a mild viral infection. Omicron will continue to modify but it will not be any more severe maybe just more infectious.
  11. Yes it did and old people and healthy people and young people but this was Delta. Even then the % of people dying with comorbitities far outweighed the rest. Delta has gone. The pandemic is over. The only threat from Omicron is people at high risk. Not everyone else. So a very, very, very small % of people globally or here in Thailand will die from covid and/or complications associated with comorbidities. This is the reality. Pandemic is over. Full stop. As for accusing me as a muesli muncher you are just so far off the mark with that one. ????
  12. Fairly sure I didn't say that people deserve to die, in fact this is what I posted: "Maybe this has something to do with it. Fat diabetic people hospitaslised / dying with covid." Quoting you: "So in your view, overweight people who die from COVID deserve it,...." A retraction that I suggested these people derserve to die would be nice. Thank you. This is factual. Hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes were the most common comorbidity in patients death due to COVID-19. More than half of the patients had two or more comorbidities. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8677356/
  13. Maybe this has something to do with it. Fat diabetic people hospitaslised / dying with covid.
  14. Big pharma and the medical proffession are two different beasts. That's not to say that many within the medical proffession did not profit from this.
  15. As to more people being intubated for things other than covid sure I didn't provide evidence. It's a guess but an educated and reasoned one. Plenty of people with serious lung disease need to be intubated. Cancer patients. TB patients. Pulmonary heart disease patients. Road accidents victims. The elderly suffering from organ failure. The list is extensive. My 'guess' therefore is there are more people being intubated for these conditions than for Omicron. You say 19 people on ventilators (up 36% from the wk before so then there were only 6) well which do you think would be more? You just have to have a smitten of reasoned thought that in a popuation of around 70,000,000 people most being intubated isn't because covid. As for not showing evidence that Omicron is a mild viral infection for the magority of the world's population there is no need to. This is an indisputeable fact as I said.
  16. Come on now. If they're being intubated it's because there's something else going on. I reckon the number of non-covid patients being intubated in hospitals for non-covid related problems is a lot higher. It even states in the article... and I mean you just can't ignore what's being said and what has been said about Omicron since it booted Delta off the face of this planet. Yes, people will still die with or from Omicron but people die from the flu. The common cold can be enough to tip some people over the edge but let's keep it in perspective. Omicron and all it's variants so far show as being a mild infection for the vast majority of the world's population. This is an indisputatable fact. It's what the medical and scientific community have said and will continue to say as long as the virus remains the Omicron strain.
  17. Sorry tend to disagree. Not the medical profession but big pharma and the owner/owners of all those masks piled up in warehouses don't.
  18. I assume your talking about vote 'buying'. Normal part of Thai elections. I remember the Taksin election in 2004 I think it was. A militaty helicopter stacked with loudspeakers was flying around telling people to vote for him. My 1st year here. I couldn't believe what I was seeing or more to the point hearing as it was very very loud.
  19. Not a chance. Thais hate it except for those that benefit from it. Corruption is rife top to bottom. To clean up corruption would probably mean sacking all those in positions of power and that aint going to happen. Local authorities, school directors, government depts, politicians, police, armed forces etc, etc.
  20. Intertesting comment as a US senate investigation paper just released is saying that the covid origin may have come from an infected palm civit illegally sold to a wet market as meat from someone in the Wuhan institute. Interesting.
  21. This rubbish is exactly why those who are ingnorant of the facts will panic.
  22. I mostly agree with but the pandemic isn't ending, it's ended.
  23. That's why I said 90 day reporting but yes I should have included in person. My post, however, of which you only quoted 3 words "7 days after" was to highlight the fact that 7 days after or 15 days before is inclusive of the expiry date.
  24. 90 days is 15 days before and 7 days after but keep in mind this is inclusive of the expiry date i.e. so if the expiry date is the 1st of the month this means you have up to and inlcluding the 7th. 13th would be the 19th.
