Thai Health Experts Alleviate Public Concerns About New Covid-19 Variant
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
17th of April 362 deaths world wide. Do we know age and comorbidities? No. Again a reality check on how much things have changed. https://covid19.who.int/ WHO seems different to worldometre but both show deaths are very low globally. -

As a retort I expect no more when the evidence is overwhelming and you can no longer argue against the facts that the pandemic is over and for the graet majority of people there is no longer any danger greater than getting the common cold but for some reason you're still hanging on to it. -

No I understand death and deaths. Who doesn't. Very few it seems in a populantion of >8,000,000,000 whith still no evidence that it's XBB.1.16 and are age and comordities at play. Dying with or dying from? I reckon my chances of dying or becoming severely ill from the non-severe viral infection XBB1.16 are very, very , very slim. My guess is around 1 in 8,000,000,000. As I say though if you are a person at risk then take precautions. If you are not IMO and the opinion of medical experts there is no need to. If someone can provide evidence that this sub-variant is a virus of concern or that it's very severe, possibly fatal then please provide said evidence WITHOUT any deflection. Just the facts. I do realise it's still early in the evolution of this sub-variant but as has been published it's thought not to be any more severe and I'll go with. Again this is the reality. I would bet no one in Thailand today died from XBB.1.16. Died with; possibly and again due to age and comorbitities. I would also bet that more people died today from road accidents or pollution related illness than XBB.1.16. Prove me wrong. -

You're the one who keeps posting charts mate. What I've posted just shows the reality. As for 42 new Covid deaths and 12,000+ people being positive in India with a population of >1.4 billion, with absolutelty no reference to age and comorbidities, died with, died from, with a sub-variant said to be no more severe than recent Omicron variants namely BA.2 and XBB and it's sub-variants XBB.1.5 and XBB.1.5.1 which are globally the dominant strains. XBB.1.16 may or may not take over as the domininant strain. I think most rational people can make their own minds up. Went to the bank yesterday. There were people in there NOT wearing masks. 1st time in more than 3 yrs. Everyday I see more and more Thais not wearing maks. Slowly but surly people are waking up to the reality. Old people still wearing masks fair enough but they're wearing the disposible surgical ones so they might as well not bother. -

This is pure defection. How about answering my questions. My question were....How many dead from XBB.1.16? How many in ICU from XBB.1.16? How many being intubated from XBB.1.16? Is XBB.1.16 a variant of concern? I can give the 1st answer for you. As of now ZERO. -

Zero deaths. Fact. Not severe. Fact. Those at risk should be careful. Fact. Why should I be ashamed of facts? -

As I have said to you before reality is not an agenda. Reality is, as of now, there have been ZERO deaths directrly attributed to XBB.1.16. No agenda mate just rationalty. Zero deaths out of a global population of >8,000,000,000 people so far. p.s. You don't think the Earth is flat do you? -

How many dead from XBB.1.16? How many in ICU from XBB.1.16? How many being intubated from XBB.1.16? Is XBB.1.16 a variant of concern? It's Omicron. It's contagious. People will get it BUT will it kill them? Will it make them critically ill? Will they be in ICU? Will they need to be intubated? A small minority with comorbities and age maybe but so far no one has died from XBB.1.16. -
"NO conclusive study onj nicotine without the tabacco or additives" are you serious? We are talking about smoking. Mate nicotine sulphate is a pesticide but we're not talking about that. It's about vaping and how this might help people give up smoking cigarettes that contain nicotine (addictive) with over 4000 chemicals and possibley >60 carcinogens found it (cigarette). Which ever way you try to spin this NICOTINE IS ADDICTIVE. The links I shared are academic papers. I'm not sure if you know about Google Scholar but it seems you don't. It is part of the Google platform where you can find scholarly/academic papers such as the ones I posted. The ones that state nictotine is addictive. If you think you know more than the people doing the research and submitting papers well that's entirely up to you. Ahhhh! I need a joint and a cig and a nice cold beer. By the way please show me anything that says it's not nicotine that's addictive in cigs but it's the additives from a formal academic paper which has been submitted. This is from the WHO. "Nicotine contained in tobacco is highly addictive" https://www.who.int/health-topics/tobacco#tab=tab_1

Yeh sure. "The pharmacokinetic properties of nicotine, or the way it is processed by the body, contribute to its addictiveness." "Withdrawal occurs as a result of dependence, when the body becomes used to having the drug in the system. Being without nicotine for too long can cause a regular user to experience irritability, craving, depression, anxiety, cognitive and attention deficits, sleep disturbances, and increased appetite. These withdrawal symptoms may begin within a few hours after the last cigarette, quickly driving people back to tobacco use." https://nida.nih.gov/publications/research-reports/tobacco-nicotine-e-cigarettes/nicotine-addictive "Nicotine is a highly addictive chemical found in cigarettes, chewing tobacco and vaping products. Nicotine is the main reason why it is so hard to quit smoking." https://www.hss.gov.nt.ca/en/services/health-effects-tobacco/nicotine-it’s-why-smoking-so-addictive "Nicotine has been proven to be as addictive as cocaine and heroin and may even be more addictive." https://www.ucsfhealth.org/conditions/nicotine-dependence ETC, ETC, ETC. To say 'nonsense..nicotine isnt addictive" is just ludicrous.

Thailand Reports World's First Death From New Covid Variant Arcturus
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Absolutely correct. So far one person has died with, not from XBB.1.16. Due to the infectious nature of Omicron this number is sure to rise but there is no evidence so far to suggest that it will be from XBB.1.16 rather than with XBB.1.16. Basically there have been no deaths directly attributed to XBB.1.16 as the cause so far. Did XBB.1.16 contribute to the death of the elderly gentalman. Possibly but this has not been explicity stated. -
Thailand Reports World's First Death From New Covid Variant Arcturus
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Bit of an old story now. This happened pre 17th of this month. "The dead person was an elderly foreigner with underlying health conditions. His death, therefore, may not directly reflect the severity of this subvariant but rather its impact on other risk factors," Supakit said. https://www.ndtv.com/feature/thailand-reports-worlds-first-death-from-new-covid-variant-arcturus-3967852 So this old fella was the 1st. Yet to see anything about the 2nd. All a bit of a storm in a teacup. -

Mate I agree. As I say heat wave or not it's hot. Should keep going like this for a few weeks or more. Out of interest this is how it's defined in AUS. The Bureau of Meteorology defines a heatwave as three or more days in a row when both daytime and night-time temperatures are unusually high—in relation to the local long-term climate and the recent past. There is no single temperature threshold for a heatwave in Australia. Ok guess it's not unusually high here. About normal for this time of year. Hot which I think is quite strange considering it's the HOT SEASON.????
