Thailand detects new coronavirus subvariant EG.5.1
Nup. It's not a common cold virus but Omicron variants/sub-variants share similar symptoms with the common cold. p.s. It's also not a flu virus.

General Prawit may emerge next week to clinch Prime Minister’s job due to a polarised parliament
Possible worst scenario. Parliament will be unworkable, people will take to the streets and coup d'etat number 15 will be initiated. The people will fight back. Thailand will become another Myanmar. This will spell the end of Thailand as we know it.

House speaker accepts draft charter amendment bill to clip senators’ wings
1st step. Good. It should be so. These senators are part of a coup and planted by the coup leader. 2nd step should be invesigation in to corruption. 3rd step should be prossecution.

Move Forward Party’s Thai PM Candidate Pita Fails First Round of Voting
Complete rubbish. Everyone hates Prayut and the military establishment. The Thai people voted them (the military and the elite they stand for and protect) out and voted them out in a huge majority. It was a classic landslide victory by definition. This cannot be disputed.. The junta put in safeguards i.e. senate/EC/CC to protect themselves from defeat. I have said many times this is how you win when you lose. They are hated.

Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra Postpones His Return to Thailand Indefinitely
Maybe he knows or or thinks another coup is coming. He's a politician of high sly order. IMO I find this very interesting and worrying. If Pita can't get the top job then who will? If it's one of the two PT nominations why would he be saying this?

Every scenario is nightmarish
Ah! Yes this is true. He has the support of the people and his coalition but not the support of the military senate. Complete farce manufactured by the junta. Question needs to be asked will Thailand always be dominated by the minority that sees the Three Pillars as an absolute or will the people raise up and demand change? Another coup will see this country go the way of Myanmar and my fear is this is what is planned.

Protect the country and it's "institutions" and "democracy"

Move Forward Party’s Thai PM Candidate Pita Fails First Round of Voting
Democracy is not 250 senators planted by the junta to stop any progressive party voted in by the popular vote from forming government. This is a very simple concept. The senators blocking the way to progression were NOT voted in to their positions by the people of Thailand. They were put there by the military. Yes, democracy is not a clear cut thing but what's happening is not democracy at work.

Move Forward Party’s Thai PM Candidate Pita Fails First Round of Voting
Sometimes democracy only comes through violence/uprisings/revolutions. Seems your knowledge of history is not so good. If the ruling, minority, undemocratic forces will not heed to the will of the people, the will of the people have but one choice. Overthrow the minority controlling, self intersted forces. Unfortunatelty here in Thailand the will of the people will be supressed by the military through coups. Again this is historical fact. This is Thailand's chance to advance into a progressive country. Sadly this can not be allowed hence the junta senators, the junta EC and the junta CC.

Move Forward Party’s Thai PM Candidate Pita Fails First Round of Voting
The term of the senators finishes this time next year. Interesting how Prayut retires from politics just before today. Time to put the uniform back on and stage another coup perhaps. Not that he ever really took the uniform off. Senators are not bureaucrats by the way and as for this lot they should not even be called senators as they were not elected.

Move Forward Party’s Thai PM Candidate Pita Fails First Round of Voting
Very strange comment. Completely nonsensical. Bit like 250 military appointed senators being able to deny democracy and progress to an entire nation. I hope you understand.

Move Forward Party’s Thai PM Candidate Pita Fails First Round of Voting
Do you live here? If you do then why does it make no difference? Maybe another coup is in the offing? Does that make a difference? Maybe Thailand could actually grow up and move forwards not backwards. Would that make a difference? Simply buying beer 24/7 (as yoyu can in Lao) would that make a difference? Maybe you should have said "me" and not "us".

Move Forward Party’s Thai PM Candidate Pita Fails First Round of Voting
Minority institutions must be protected. Democracy is non-existant when 250 junta planted senators determine the future direction of Thailand and not the person voted in by a huge majority of the Thai population. The people of Thailand spoke and spoke definitively. These junta henchmen should be locked up and stripped of all assets. Just discraceful. What a joke.

Live Update : Will it be Pita?
May be time to update the update. Non Elected Senators Planted by Military Determine Thailand's Future. This would be a very accurate headline for the update to the update. No democracy when it comes to protecting certain minority sectors of this country. The people spoke and spoke loudly in an election and it means nothing. What a counrty. What a joke.

Wet season still hasn't started. When daily storms roll in around the same time everyday or so then it's started.

Biting back: Thailand’s dengue battle claims 33 lives, Public Health Office reveals
As dangerous as this is I guess now covid is no longer in the news they need something. Dengue happens every year. Thais don't clean up breading areas for mozzies. It will continue. Fortunately no masks are required.

BMA prepares for Pita’s “Judgement Day” on Thursday
Interesting headline. "judgement day". This judgement is dependant on 250 senators planted by the junta. This is not even close to democracy. The Thai population has already passed their judgement through the ballot box. This is not judgement day for Pita. It's judgement day for the future of Thailand and it's people. The very people who want the military OUT and Thailand to move foward and develop and not be dictated to by the military and minority conservative royalists. The people have spoken and the election results are overwhelmingly for change.

Outgoing Thai PM found guilty of neglect of duty over PM2.5 pollution
Chiang Mai Administrative Court. Thaksin country. This is pretty meanigless. How about guilty of disappearing people. Guilty of corruption.

Hopefully the new government will not be dictated to by the ultra consevative, religious right.

Thailand’s FDA warns against popular ready-to-drink product
Good. Fair warning. Pity is this article doesn't actually show the product/product label. One would think this would be a good idea when posting articles warning about the consumption of particular items.

Karen refugees in Mae Hong Son province checked for COVID-19
Maybe covid will expand. I just went to Loa and no one is wearing masks. Not sure what the Thai facination with covid/masks/jabs is. As for the mkilitary/junta they are war criminals that should be brought to justice.

Karen refugees in Mae Hong Son province checked for COVID-19
Not exactly answers to my questions. Offered vax? What if they say no? Treated with what if they're positive?

Karen refugees in Mae Hong Son province checked for COVID-19
So what are the results? Will they be forced to be vaccinated? Will we ever know?

Prachachat party leader automatically selected House speaker
A good choice and wise decision. Minor party within the coalition. Will never need to vote as the only time this would happen would be with a tied vote in the house and this will never happen with such a massive majority.

COVID infections falling steadily, fewer fatalities over past month
and dying with or from is another thing. People die all the time with a cold but it's not the cold that killed them. Might have been enough to push them over the edge though. , Covid's there's now. Omicron now not Delta. Two different beasts. It's now an endemic virus. Again I will say if you think getting jabbed continuously and wearing mask is a good thing go right ahead and do this for the rest of your life. This virus is here to stay.
