Elon Musk and his incompetent doge team
dinsdale replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Political Soapbox
DOGE finding wasted taxpayer's that may very well include kickbacks/fraud/corruption. The post is directly related to this thread. The pigs at the trough being those receiving taxpayer's money and that money (the trough) now being taken away. It boggles the mind that anyone can be so stupid but I guess there are people who believe the earth to be flat so it does happen. -

It would seem that you do not understand the analogy. It's not exactly a difficult one to grasp and indeed a very common one but my guess is you were never exactly top of the class at school. I suggest you look up the idiom "snouts in the trough". Whilst you're at it you may also need to look up the meaning of analogy and idiom. -

You mean things like massive reduction in illegals crossing the border, illegals that have committed crimes in the US being deported, identifying possibly trillions of dollars in waste, trying to bring an end to the Russia Ukraine war, getting hostages released in Gaza, banning biological males from women's sports etc. that sort of doing things wrong. I'm sure if Trump brought world peace, an end to hunger globally and the complete eradication of all disease you would still have to say Trump Bad. Sooner or later what you are suffering from will be shown to be an actual psychological condition and allowed to be said on here. It can be found in the Urban Dictionary. This is a good article from CNN covering the topic. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/07/19/politics/trump-derangement-syndrome/index.html -

I can't remember you ever posting anything negative about Sleepy Joe or the inept idiot Harris. Only ever been anti-MAGA/anti Trump rhetoric. I will happily stand corrected on this. -

Getting The Job Done. Illegal Border Crossings Plummet.

It’s the lowest the US has seen “in almost a lifetime,” said Mark Krikorian, the executive director at the Center for Immigration Studies. https://nypost.com/2025/02/13/us-news/illegal-border-crossings-hit-record-lows-could-be-on-track-for-levels-not-seen-for-60-years/ -
Bill to ban mRNA vaccines passes out of House committee

This sounds like it's straight out of a big pharma/CDC brochure indeed I suspect a cut and paste job. BTW I'm fairly sure those who suffered vaccine injury would question the safety aspect. -

I've had it a couple of times. Not pleasant but over pretty quick. A few days. I had the flu a long time ago. Much, much worse. When I say a couple of times who knows. I've had the occasional "cold", sore throat, aching body on different occasions. Maybe covid. If it was it was just another boost to my immune system. Before this whole thing everybody got these things and just got on with it. -

Current flu vaccines are effective. Current rabies vaccines are effective. ZIKV is not common and usually results in mild symptoms so would you suggest a global immunisation program of mRNA injections. As for cancer other avenues are being explored. mRNA is big, big business for big pharma. -

Like calling me a bad teacher, inferring I'm not qualified and saying I have Tourette's syndrome. Are these the sort of unfounded conclusions and insults you mean? -

You simply just continue to push the CDC line with absolute faith. Why do people at very, very little risk of dying from the virus that escaped from the lab (oooops! Conspiracy theory) need to take the jab? Babies, children, teenagers, healthy people, people with no severe comorbidities. Why? Most countries now DO NOT recommend the jab for people outside of a very narrow group of those at risk. Fact is there will be an investigation into this and I say good. Bring it on. -

Correct. When I watch news from Oz, the US and the UK there are always grammatical errors. I was never actually taught grammar at school. Sometimes I'll ask Thai teachers if I'm not sure about a grammar point. Education systems in the west stopped teaching the 3 R's in the 70's I think. The results are obvious. There is a big push for "back to basics" education. Not everything learnt needs to be focused on experiential learning and creativity. -

Pitiful. 23 yrs teaching experience. Guess I can't be all bad. As for being full of anger you misunderstand. I simply respond to idiotic, nasty and puerile posts such as yours with rational, balanced and thoughtful responses. As for "half truths and plain lies" you obviously cannot support this personal attack. If you think you can go right ahead. This is what student's at my school think of me. There were lots more of these Valentine's stickers by the end of the day. -

Quite obviously you have no idea about teaching English as a 2nd or other language so don't pretend you do. Indeed I think it would be fair to say you have no idea about teaching full stop. I am a qualified teacher are you? -

Complete and absolute rubbish based on your incapacity for an intelligent thought. What about native speakers with an education degree? How about those with an ordinary degree and a CELTA (my guess is you don't know what a CELTA is)? What about an ordinary degree, a diploma of teaching in a 2nd or other language and a CELTA? An education degree and a diploma in teaching in a 2nd or other language? Masters in linguistics on top of an education degree? A teacher that teaches a 2nd or other language in no way needs to know another language. They need to know about language acquisition and how to teach it. You really just keep showing your complete lack of understanding. Of course there are some who can be well qualified and be bad teachers just as there can be some who have little or no education in the profession but can still be good teachers. Sure Thailand's full of useless farang teachers with dodgy degrees but to say "Most native speakers are terrible English teachers" is simply your opinion with no actual basis. -

Chinese (Mandarin) is taught in schools but it's not the international language. English is. Let's hope it stays that way. -

I agree. Most Thai English language teachers have poor English speaking skills. Grammar is probably better than 90% on here. Doesn't make them bad teachers though. If your pool of English teachers is coming from a population of poor English speakers you can't expect much more. Even if fluent in English, admittedly I've never met one, will be pushing the proverbial uphill teaching multiple classes of 40+ with no tech in the classroom. This of course is referencing the government school system. -
It should be renamed. No doubt about it. I think They/Them DIY.

This is true but it doesn't account for the fact that the education system here (govt.) is broken.
