  1. I think your best bet is to slog on out to the immigration office and get the current hand out from section C-1 <- the section that issues Non-Imm visas at that office Nope you cannot, you need a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp, you apply, you pay the 2k baht, you get a receipt that tells you to come back in 14 days and when you return to that section on that date they will put the Non-O visa into your passport, stamp it used, and give you a new 90 day stamp rental agreement, TM30, land lord thai i/d, house book copy and last I'd heard out there they wanted a minimum 6 month lease. <- they might do it with 3 but unlikely, because they want to know you'll be here for the whole process (getting the Non-O and then getting the retirement extension)
  2. Once they give you the 30 day under consideration stamp LET THEM KNOW you have to leave the country (in case they want to schedule a home visit) and then immediately by a single re-entry permit. That re-entry permit is only good for that 30 day under consideration stamp, but it lets you leave/come back and get stamped in for that date. You'll be fine 👍
  3. Truly a train wreck of a thread 😮 and my take on it @Liquorice it's just a b/s form that an immigration office in Nakhon Nowhere came up with 🙂 Believe me, no matter who said it's going to be rolled out IF that was gonna happen at all 80+ immigration offices they wouldn't start it up there in Roi Et 😛 Until someone else from another office (and not another ban-nok Nakhon Nowhere office) posts that they filled it out when they did an extension I'd chalk it up to misinformation and just a quirky form that particular office uses
  4. Totally re-vamped and streamlined eVisa process for single entry tourist visas. Way WAY WAY better than when the system rolled out They still do the "show us you can use this consulate" thing and anything with his name and UK address on it will work You shouldn't have much issue at all applying for them,
  5. should be fine, at this time there are no confirmed denial of entries from CNX since the country re-opened after covid. AND people with sketchy entry/stay histories fly thru there as it's a soft touch airport
  6. Let's try to follow the KISS adage (Keep It Super Simple) You're allowed TWO visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31), period, end of story You can burn thru them how ever you want to 😉 Once they're gone they're gone and you wait until the following year rolls over to get 2 more free land entries
  7. well get as much time as you can out of the visa then (I know it's pricy, in the US it's 200USD) AND You be real careful comin' back in to thailand visa exempt after being here a bunch of time on an METV especially if you're flying in to DMK or BKK Safe travels
  8. Well, with that attitude it's no wonder you get marginal results : 😛 As visarunner correctly stated the ONLY border with Burma that's open is the one you get to thru Ranong Pier going to Kawthaung by boat All the rest of the borders with burma are closed to foreigners
  9. The METV is a visa valid for entry for 6 months from the date it's issued. SO to max out your time on it, you get it as close to when you're comin' here as you can, because it starts burning its validity down from the second they emailed you the PDF file 🙂 That visa allows unlimited entries of 60 days each during the validity So if your METV says "valid until" and has a date of the 3rd of Jan 2025 as long as you enter on that date you'd still get stamped in for 60 days (and could take the 30 day extension on that entry for 1900baht too)
  10. Here's what google said it was Poipet, Cambodia — A German citizen caused considerable unrest at the Thai-Cambodian border last week after he was denied entry into Thailand. The incident occurred at the border crossing at Poipet, a busy point for travelers making so-called “visa runs.” The Thai border police explained to the German that he had already left Thailand three times within a short period of time and had only been allowed to enter once more with a “visa on arrival.” To re-enter, the officials said, he now needed a regular tourist visa. However, the German showed no understanding and reacted increasingly aggressively. Angry tirades in German and English escalated the situation, in which he accused the officials of only being interested in bribes and loudly demanded to know how much money he would have to pay to be allowed to cross the border. The loud behavior led to a long line of waiting travelers forming behind him. Two Thai officials finally intervened and carefully but firmly led the German back to the Cambodian border police to clarify the situation. In a discussion between the officials of both countries that was incomprehensible to the German, he was finally denied re-entry into Thailand. What followed was another outburst of anger from the German, this time towards the Cambodian officials. He demanded the immediate return of his passport with the plan to travel to the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh to apply for a regular visa. The Cambodian officials made it clear, however, that leaving Cambodia was only possible on the condition that he applied for a new visa in his home country. Ezoic How the situation ended for the affected German remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that aggressive and agitated behavior at border crossings not only endangers one's own journey, but can also cause unnecessary difficulties for all border staff and other travelers. This incident underlines the importance of finding out about the current visa requirements and regulations before traveling and respecting them in order to avoid such escalating situations. Report courtesy of the Immigration Office So to recap, some german who already bounced two times by land tried to do the "third time is a charm" at Poipet and was told he couldn't get in to thailand 😕 @LudwigK you could have just posted that in engrish 😞
  11. totally agree with you 100% on that point I was only mentioning that many people did apply in their country and then used the visa by bouncing out and back once it was approved after they didn't get it in time for their flight here.
  12. you wanna post that in engrish for the rest of the people or you just gonna leave it like that? I couldn't get google translate to do it as that website has some blocker dealy
  13. Here's how it works at MOST immigration offices you meet the requirements, you have a MINIMUM of 15 days left on your current stamp You go to your immigration office apply for the 90 day Non-O visa for 2000baht you get a receipt that says come back in 2 weeks you go back to the office on that date they stamp in the Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp THEN you'd get a re-entry permit as you said you wanna leave during that 90 days AND remember that re-entry permit is ONLY good for those 90 days so you have to be back before that stamp runs out so you can apply for the year extension. Now as far as the certificate of residence you can't get one in Bangkok until AFTER you've done at least ONE 90 day report and you don't start your 90 day reporting until 90 days AFTER you get your year extension. I don't know how it is for the other immigration offices, some will issue them on free-stamp entries, some need long term visas, CHECK with the office you use (keeping in mind there are over 80 offices in the country)
  14. Here's the processing time for a few of the consulates around Phnom Penh no appt needed, walk up consulate FIVE BUSINESS days NOT counting the day you apply to get your passport back for Non-imm visas Singapore, apply online for the visa before you even leave thailand, get approved, set up a date/time to go there, turn in the docs and get the passport back the next working day Penang, no appt needed, walk up consulate, 3 business day processing including the day you apply Kuala Lumpur, mandatory appt booking to get in the gate, apply, make a new appt to get your passport back the next business day Vientiane & Savannakhet, mandatory appt booking to get in the gate, 3 business day processing including the day you apply So there you go 😛
  15. I probably get 7 - 10 messages from people stranded at the Aranyaprathet/Poipet border per week These are people who thought "they'd save money" and bounce themselves because "back in the day it was fine" only to find out, this isn't back in the day and you don't save any money when you get denied entry back into thailand after trying to bounce out and back. I had one couple in a rented car, drive to the Aranyaprathet/Poipet border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in and back out of cambodia and then get denied entry to thailand. They had their exit stamp to cambodia cancelled and were told to fly back. Meaning they had to slog all the way to Siem Reap, fly back to bangkok, THEN get back to Aranyaprathet to pick up their rental car in the parking lot and drive back 😮 This is just one example of how "bouncing yourself at Poipet" doesn't save you money and I have story after story from people What was really sad though is that even "real tourists" (as opposed to the people just milking 30 day free entry w/30 day extensions to live here) get caught at that border too. I think I related a young french couple came to thailand, toured around, went to cambodia, spent a MONTH in that country seeing the sights, then tried to cross back into thailand by land at Poi Pet so they could fly back to France the following week. They were denied entry 😕 Had to go back to Siem Reap and fly in <- that one really made me see that there's no rhyme or reason to that renegade border crossing at all
  16. Most offices Jomtien included is 30 days or less left on your current stamp, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Buriram, Samut Prakan and other offices are 45 days or less left on your current stamp As as DrJack54 stated doesn't matter when you apply the year extension is added to your current expiration date
  17. BOTH online appt systems (the one for Vientiane AND the one for Savannakhet) work fine Vientiane is booked out until 14th of August Online Appt System Vientiane AND The online appt booking for Savannakhet fills up in minutes once the new day (2 weeks out) opens up at 12AM every morning for booking Online Appt System Savannakhet So if you want an appt at Savannakhet, set your alarm for 11:59PM and refresh your pc screen every second until the bookings for Wednesday the 24th come up for booking. They'll be booked out by the agents who have teams of people just sitting at pc's with data ready to enter to book them up It really is a you snooze you lose situation 😕
  18. I would class him as "lucky", and the consulate was right 😮 he should have applied thru the US, there's no issue being a brit IN the US and applying for a visa using the eVisa system there
  19. Then that's the office you should go to so you can get the hand out listing the requirements for that particular office 😉 I posted a general list which works at most places most of the time. Your mileage may vary 🙂
  20. you got your wires crossed by more than a bit Since the advent of the eVisa system I would wager many hundreds of people using it applied for a visa while in their country, BUT because they didn't apply early enough it wasn't approved before they were booked to fly here 😕 They flew in FREE stamp entry. THEN after they were here the visa was approved and they got the PDF eVisa emailed to them. (often within days after arriving) They were able to print the PDF bounce out and back by land or air to activate that visa entry without any issue at all The eVisa PDF does not show ANY of the information (flight/date of travel, etc) you used when you applied for the visa at the consulate Single entry visas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue and as long as the person exits/re-enters thailand before that date there's no issue getting stamped in on it NOTE I am not saying these people did anything wrong (other than apply too close to their flight time to thailand) as they were in their country when they applied, and they did show proof of flight from their country TO thailand when they applied. It just was bad timing BUT it's happened to a LOT of people In other only mildly related news I just had a person apply for an eVisa online at the thai consulate Paris (hands down the WORST thai consulate in the EU to apply at with a 6 WEEK processing time) and they had submitted a flight from Germany to thailand as proof they're coming here. They were rejected because the flight did not originate in France. <- I posted this to point out that you need a flight originating from the country you're applying in
  21. Keep in mind there are OVER 80 immigration offices in the country AND I always recommend that people go to their immigration office and get the hand out specific to that office This is a GENERAL list <- meaning it is NOT immigration office specific BUT it covers most of the required documentation, copies, etc you need
  22. I think you have your terminology mixed up and Pattaya57 caught it 👍 You want to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa inside the country THEN you want to get a RE-ENTRY PERMIT <- that lets you exit/re-enter during that 90 days, AND then you want to leave for a bit. As long as you get the re-entry permit before you leave after getting the 90 day Non-O visa and come back BEFORE the 90 day stamp runs out you'll be fine and be able to get your yearly extension when you come back
  23. The thing is a single entry tourist visa or a single entry Non-Imm visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue That means you have 3 months to ENTER thailand and get stamped in on the visa (even if you showed up here the day the visa expires you'd still get stamped in for as long as you should on that visa) There is no reason to wait until it's close to you traveling to apply for ANY single entry visa NOW on the other hand if you're getting a 6 month METV (Multi-Entry Tourist Visa) you would want to get that one as close to when you're flying here as you can, because it's 6 month validity starts burning down the second they issue it and the faster you get here on it the closer you get to getting the 9 months of stay possible out of it
  24. Just go to the Udon Immigration office with the documents/copies Dr Jack54 mentioned and apply for a 30 day extension, the reason is "tourism", you're here free stamp entry as a tourist. The extension is 1900baht
