I hear now and again that the status of "fully vaccinated" resets after some period of time since these so-called vaccines only offer protection for some limited period of time, which is well less than 12 months. This is of course just the opinion of some government in the world trying to impose a vaccine mandate but we don't know who/where is going to come to which conclusion. EDIT: here's a random example I found https://globalnews.ca/news/8919947/covid-canada-update-fully-vaccinated-definition/ of people debating the issue of fully vaccinated. The idea is out there so it's best to take note of it. snippet:

I read on http://thaiembassy.com (is it even official?) that you need to be full FULLY vaccinated and their conducting random tests. This is why I rushed out to get that ATK test last minute because I thought I could get refused at one of the checkpoints since the card is older than 12 or even 6 months. There is a limit on the time of the vaccination? Where is that stipulated?

Sorry guys I forgot to give my update on what happened after getting to back to Maskland. Basically the ATK test was totally ignored and they only cared about my 13 month old vaccine card. I was checked once in Denver where I embarked and then once in San Francisco before I boarded to Japan. As others reported once actually arriving in BKK I wasn't asked to show anything and there was no evidence of any random checks, booths, staff etc.... Breezed through immigration with no lines at record speed also which was nice. So yeah for anyone interested probably don't bother with the expensive ATK test and just rely on your vaccine card if you have one, no matter how old it may be. If I didn't have that I do believe I would need to show the ATK test in both those same locations.

Public should not worry about new Omicron subvariants: DMSC
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
With all due respect to the Thai's, given their nature to conform they don't seem to know how to break the cycle where if they take the mask off it's ONLY them now, standing alone against a sea of masked faces. It's just not in the spirit of the people here to go against the tide like that. Good luck to them I hope they can get out of this sooner than later. ???? -
24 year old German Finnish speaking foreigner missing in Thailand
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"individuals who are not suitable for travel"? What does this mean exactly? I'm an American and I would consider it a violation of my rights if the government decided where I could and could not go based on their own subjection opinion. I would expect this from North Korea but from Europe?? -
A guide to Thailand’s new rules of the road

Instead of passing even more useless laws how about importing police from countries that actually care about road safety? clearly the Thai's are not up for the job. -

The best joke I've heard in a while. Nice one. -
Thanks for all the replies guys. Yes I am flying through Japan but unless they changed their rules from 2 months I didn't encounter any checks there. I was nervous about my old vaccine card so I ran out and got a $159 rapid antigen test just to be sure. It sounds like I may not need it but I got worried because of that alert from United the website link I showed.

I'm flying from USA tomorrow and I saw my airline United says there are COVID 19 restrictions to enter the country. I already applied for my visa online and they didn't ask for anything COVID related but do I still need to show a negative test or proof of vaccination? I thought they ended all of this on July 1st but maybe I missed some detail. Thanks. EDIT: my vaccination card was from 13 months ago. Do they still accept this? EDIT 2: from https://www.thaiembassy.com/weekly-updates/thailand-pass-not-required-starting-july-1-temporary-suspension-of-tm6-card: I assume this means since my vaccination card is 13 months ago I'll be subject to failing a random test and get tested at the airport?

Narita (Tokyo) airport restaurants still closed?
NorthernRyland replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Yes I may have been there too late as my connection was at 5:00PM. United though but not sure which terminal I was in. Looks like my connection is at 3:30 PM so maybe I'll find all the stores are open. Thanks. -

Asia is taking this thing REALLY hard. Nary a person wearing a mask in Colorado right now. It's almost like a distant memory... -
Narita (Tokyo) airport restaurants still closed?
NorthernRyland replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Thanks, it looks like many things are open. I walked up and down an entire terminal when I was there and saw nothing open but my connection was so tight I didn't have time to walk the entire airport. I'll probably bring some food just in case. -
When I traveled through Narita in early July 2 months ago it appeared all the restaurants were still closed the same as they were since 2020 when COVID hit. Does anyone know if they really are totally closed or I simply didn't see any in the wing of the airport I was in? I have a 5 hour layover coming from the US so it would be good to know so I can pack some food. Thanks!

It also makes Thailand look kind of retarded. Do they think there's some large percent of the population around the world that's going to spend their last $1000 on plane ticket to Thailand and arrive with literally zero dollars in the bank? They must think they're pretty clever by putting an end to this scam which totally was going to happen if not for that visa requirement.

Thailand grapples with allowing more Chinese landowners
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Stupidest idea ever. Thailand will be colonized in short order and I don't see the Thais even like the Chinese very much. Don't follow the West. Diversity is not a strength.- 129 replies

You could maybe put 6 small homes in there. The land was 12.4 million baht so each house is 2mil for just for the land. So maybe a 4-5 million baht house could make back the developer some money. With a 2 mil per house land cost this is already getting upper class so I doubt they want a little cheapy 1 story 50sqm house. With a GDP per capita at about 10k USD per year I don't see how people can afford a 140k USD house unless you're very wealthy. The only thing seems like a fantasy to me.

Thai land is hilariously overvalued. Sure they can ask but does anyone buy? Not far from where I live in about 20k Chiang Mai center I just saw about 0.75 acres for 380,000 USD. They must think a property developer is going to buy it and put up some higher end homes. Sounds crazy to me.
