My parents are Boomers and I think this is a generational thing. They're deeply invested in the idea of youth and staying young. Granted they're in great shape for early 70s but it goes downhill fast from there. I'm keep telling them I'm planning for their deaths in the next 10 years but they completely disregard that. I'm pretty sure I'm going to die of heart failure like my dad and his dad did, I don't expect to live longer than 70. I don't see the problem of accepting this and trying to make the best of the time you have.

Great so it's welfare to a sovereign nation and the military industrial complex. Not like we have millions of people living on the streets or anything so who cares.

No doubt they have their own mini-israel in NYC but why are 40% of political guests on Joe Rogan (the largest podcast in the world) Jewish? Americans are going to be very biased in favor of Israel based on this. Joe Biden's cabinet is massively over represented with Jews (https://www.timesofisrael.com/all-the-jews-biden-has-tapped-for-top-roles-in-his-new-administration/) so I expect Israel to be well funded if they attempt an a full scale attack on Palestine and Americans will largely support this.

Either Israel completely destroys Palestine or the other way around. The thing that gets me is that as a US citizen apparently Israel is my "greatest ally" and we owe them unlimited military support in the form of US tax dollars (yay!). I can't even think of a single thing Israel ever did to directly help America. IMO the US government is completely captured by Zionists (Jews and Christians alike) and they will continue to fund Israel (with my tax dollars) until the ultimate destruction of Palestine.

Thai people are simply not intended to be drivers of motor vehicles. There's something in the DNA which causes them to behave irrationally given their usual nature. We all know Thai time, people arriving 30 minutes late, not arriving at all, canceling last minute etc... but no one seems to care. I'd say in general they're very comfortable with things not being on time. Now put them behind the wheel and they're willing to take any risk to get to their destination 1 minute faster, even if that means killing their entire family and the guy in the other car. How does any of this make any sense?

it's nigh impossible to avoid some main roads in most areas even if it's just a few kilos to get to a quieter road.

I see people do this every day and it's just normal for them. The women was in the middle of the road and closed the gap too fast while the motorbike thought she was just going to wait him out. There's no hard and fast rule as to what to do in this situation. Come to a full stop? go left, go right? there's no clear answer because you can't read peoples minds.

watch the YT video starting at 0:30. When the guy hits her she's standing in the middle of the road and basically walked into the path of the bike. What was he supposed to do? The only thing he could have down is came to a a full stop but he probably didn't think she'd make that move. The bigger question is, what responsibility do you have to cross streets safely? If you just walk out into the middle of a road like a moron and get hit by a car driving the speed limit in their own lane is that really their fault or yours?

well sorry but do you know how frustrating it is to be driving and have some person standing in the middle of the road while not knowing if they're going to run across or stay there. The motorbike may have been following the law exactly but didn't how to react when he came upon them. I've only hit people myself and so I always slow way down when I see people do this, which is another hazard in itself.

This video is worth sharing again. If you haven't seen it notice the trunk has no intent of slowing down. That's because there are no rules of the road so people default to law of the jungle aka "me first".

Thai's are in general extremely oblivious to their surroundings when in public. It's like they're in a little bubble and the outside world doesn't exist outside of it. Many accidents can be avoided if you just pay more attention and consider your actions more.

This is same circumstance that killed a group of cyclists in CM some years ago. Riding in the early morning hours when it's still nearly dark and riding in groups. Maybe they were going around a curve while taking up the entire lane and the driver didn't have time to react as they were speeding/drunk/dumb etc...

This is how dogs cross the road. They slowly creep out and play it sneaky like if no one can see them they won't get hit. I see Thai people do this same move every day. I've almost hit people myself because it's not clear if they're going to run across or just sit there. It's all so tiresome.

This stupid game of frogger Thai people play when crossing the road. It's so obviously dangerous but they never learn. Just wait until the road is clear and then RUN across the entire damn road until you reach safety. Anything else is just lazy. If you're in the middle of the road then cars need to negotiate your next move and if anyone makes a wrong choice then you get seriously injured or die. Besides he hit and run is the motorbike even at fault here? He had the right of way and now some people are just standing in the middle of the road and he didn't know how to respond.

ah yes but Thailand doesn't even know how to regulate or enforce in the first place so I don't see how this will make any difference.

uh no? I mean Thai's can get guns easily yet they aren't killing themselves at massive rates like some American cities. Seems pretty obviously true to me.

The only thing that saves Thailand here is that their population isn't that violent.

They have no feasible system in place to collect these taxes. If you earn income you are required to pay taxes at the end of the year but before then the money has not been taxed, yet you could transfer it into your Thai bank or withdrawal from an ATM. The only solution will be to have foreigners declare their foreign income spent in Thailand and then prove tax receipts to see if that money was actually taxed as they said. The process will be retroactive on operate on the last tax year before the point in which you declare (probably at immigration or when applying for new visas). Unless they open a whole new tax office for foreigners this is going to fall on immigration and apply to people with tourist visas even. Imagine the insanity. Once they realize this is unenforceable given their lazy and incompetent workforce the whole scheme will fall apart and be ignored.

Wife is watching the Thai news right now and they said the shooter was behaving like another country which is known for these kinds of acts. I wonder which one that may be... ????

I've seen Pai overrun with them and particular parts of Chiang Mai but if you live in the northern part of the city (CM) where I live you very really see them anywhere except maybe a 7-11 at a gas station. My other house in Samoeng (tiny little town in the mountains) has no Chinese (for now). I only know about my little part of the country but there are clear tourist heavy destinations they go to and the rest of the areas are completely normal. I'm sure other expats can report the same thing. Simple rule is just avoid major tourist locations and life is normal.
