  1.

Until it isn't anymore and too many people come, aka the chinese.

I don't get it into my head how someone can expatriate on a touri visa, it's just waiting for trouble to happen, might be ok as young backpacker but not for someone with a serious life.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Whats the difference between a tourist visa and a retirement visa in Thailand as far as regulations that could be changed at any future point?

The only difference in a practical aspect is the terminology surely. They can all be revoked, altered or modified in any number of ways that may not suit the future applicant or current holder

Probably the only way to avoid all the challenges would be to become a resident.....

  2. It's not misleading. My visa is officially based on retirement, and the financial requirements have been the same for many years, with a few changes this year. You and other "tourists" can go on with your border hopping and continuously whining about Immigration and changes.
    Semantics
You and everybody else who is here on a visa of any kind is not settled in the sense that you have any rights to stay here

I think the other poster is trying to establish that you are not a resident, so not exactly a fixture of Thailand
In that sense everybody on any visa is purely a guest (tourist) as it can be revoked

Maybe I have misinterpreted the gist of it......

  3. Sell raw milk?  Sounds very foolish.  Far too many ignorant people here, and many diseases might be found in raw milk.
Cook it and make cheese?  Of course no problem with bacteria but i can't advise drinking raw milk.
I never knew 'churn' was a noun.  A UK specialty.
Available for consumption in England, Wales and N. Ireland
Must be bought from the farm of origin not an outlet

Some make the case that it is a "super food" with many healthy properties that are lost after pasteurisation......

Theres nothing like attempting to counter a sensible argument with an outlandish, extreme and unrealistic argument to try and make your point, unfortunately the lack of critical and balanced thought becomes obvious when the ridiculous is used as an example....

It would only be an outlandish and unrealistic comment if was not a penalty still being used today and had been abolished worldwide

Sharia law can be pretty brutal.....

  5. You state the point of no relevance?
The response is as relevant as the post I responded to.
    Of course there is relevance.
Freedom of movement for people who have to work here is relevant to the TM30.
When I was here and with Ford I never heard any of the present day that we get hit with now.
I was moving all over the place and never heard anything about reports or reporting residence.

555555 how on earth has the exchange rate got anything to do with a TM30 report thread......

  6. There are no free health care. Somebody is still paying for it unless you're a poor person unable to earn a decent western income (then you pay tax) even after wining the lottery of being born in a Western country.
Free for you if you're not the one paying

There are many thousands in the UK for example that have never had a job or paid any of their own money into the system but still get access to "free" healthcare, housing and benefits

So everything is free to them......

  7. Toyota is already doing it.
Who wants to pay 30% plus more for a vehicle built in Thailand for export ?
    All down to the baht.
Two years ago a vehicle built for export was say 500,000.
The same vehicle built today is 650,000 equivalent.
Because of the drop in currency exchange.
All car manufacturers are looking at the equations.
Basically 30% more baht is required to purchase.
Which has absolutely no relevance to immigration rules that this topic is focused on....

  8. So would cutting their hands off.  You're not for that, are you?
Mine was meant as a light hearted generalization of the male Thai populace that doesn't want to work

As for cutting off hands, yes I would

I'm more of a hanging man myself than a liberal bleeding heart that thinks you can change certain mindsets with courses and soft music therapy.......

  9. on the other hand , its so much more reassuring to be able to visit a doctor /hospital with an ailment and they will try to cure you , rather than doing their best to pad the bill and make you pay as much as poss7ble.....................and they wont charge you any money
    And they wont charge you

Yet, but that time is coming..........

  11. Poeple have said that plastic or ornamental birds of prey can discourage them, not sure how true that is or whether they would become wise to them over time

Seen them on large factory roofing in the UK so maybe worth a try......
