1. Well driving through Pattaya last night there was very very few customers in the open bars or restaurants that were open to view

Never know what "season" it is here but just now it is extremely quiet, with the exception of groups of Indians walking around the pavements

Plenty of coaches on the roads and I'm sure the hotels are doing okay

This doesn't help the small businesses though, the whole place is changing rather quickly

For better or worse time will tell.....

2. Dirt on the blades isn't even. It can cause an imbalance, a wobble if you will.  In addition, dirt on the blades will cause additional friction, which will cause additional load on the motor. Very simple rocket science...  Clean it, lube it once in awhile and hope for the best.
Thats just overthinking household appliances to a whole new level.....

3. That's the trouble with the World today,it's a throw away society,
and you are a great example of it.
regards worgeordie

The items are fabricated to be thrown away
The parts used are cheap, poorly made and rarely available if you try to find them

There is no benefit to trying to repair a 300baht fan when you look at the time and parts cost from a practical point of view
If you are retired and bored then it can be time spent to keep you entertained if thats your inclination

Today is a throw away society, everybodies desire for cheaper products has created this....

4. Don't be surprised when price increases are passed onto the private sector and insurance costs go up.
Think it's a good time to buy stock in private Hospitals and Health insurance.
It's inevitable

Pushing the Thai dream of becoming a medical hub farther away

There seems to be some dislocation between the people bringing in these rules and the ones trying or claiming to advance certain areas of industry/hospitality, as if they dont communicate or have the same purposes......

5. All the larger stores do have them both in plastic and metal, you may well have had a miscommunication problem. Take a picture with you as any description is likely to lead to a misunderstanding.

eyecatcher has pictures of them being used.
Yep tried with the pictures, all the stores I went to only had tile edge beads

After the 90 degree right angle beads for doing rendering on columns...

6. every builders merchant will sell them. Big box stores do not!
They are 15bt each for the better ones, 14bt the rest. 2m long.
if you need close to 200m then you can possibly get a box of 100 for 1200bt...i did.
That the mom and pop stores then? I tried all the larger stores with no luck....

Thanks

7. How about actually opening driving schools where people are taught how to drive, day time/night time,  driving in different conditions & parking included !
with a minimum of hours accumulated before a test drive can be taken by an independent test driver.. not the instructor.
Also a written test on the highway code.
Would need to involve outside foreign trainers initially to set the bar, therein being the first stumbling block as they appear to refuse almost all outside influence, again with the loss of face.......

8. Behind that grommet is probably a screw put in to stop the unit from sliding
Doubtfull that they fixed it into the frame and then put the glass in as that would be too much work for average builder here

Does the grommet come out or not? Is it actually a grommet or a stopper glued on?.....

9. I guess there are taxes, or at least brown envelopes, going to the thais tho. not to mention things like bus drivers, fuel for the buses, food for the guests, room cleaning etc etc.
The big money comes in the form of purchasing the required operator licences, operating the tours and hotels etc

Only top level make real money on this type of tourism, hence the outcry of zero dollar tours
The money that trickles into Thai pockets from day to day spending and subsequent employment is negligible

Last year? There was a big dig at the industry with all the usual pomp and indignation that it is happening. As per all other big stories here it just fizzled out with what appears to have been little to no effect........
