  1. As this is a question of immigration and regarding what you don´t want to do if you are on overstay, the laws about carrying or not carrying passport is irrelevant. Anyway, time to sort it out.

I never carry my passport. Pink Card and DL always works fine.

You are required to carry at least a copt of your passport together with a copy of your lastest and valid stamp for the allowed duration of stay. That you can fly with your Pink ID card is right, but with the wrong Immigration Officer you might eventually end up in problem.

Where? For whom? Supply links please. I'm calling BS.

The requirement have probably no substance in the law, but are you the one the wants to take that up with an immigration Officer, be my guest. You do know that there is much that is at the discretion of the officer at hand, right? Real Passport not nessecary, but copys, as above stated, is something they can demand in some cases.

    Dear VonDutch,

as someone who works part-time for one of the Western embassies, we are instructed not to assist in these problems the citizens.

What you can do is to live Thailand ASAP!!

Wow! Here we go again, like Whitesnake once sung. Why are you trying to state that Western Embassies are instructed to work this way and not assist in problems for citizens in other countries?
Might be the single one that you are stating that you do part time work for, as a translator or content writer, I assume. Not that it matters, anyway.

However, this is the real thing.

All, except the one you work for, are controlled by their respective countries. That means they are given different instruction regarding different matters.
What usually is a rule is that they try to assist their own people as far as they can and have the possibility to do. Most embassies will not bee able to give assistance with money, though. What they can help with is the possibility to reach relatives to inform them of a persons situation, and also assist in recieving money sent to hand out to the person in need.
That has not been nessecary here, due to that this person have been in contact but recieved help a little bit late in the stage.

As I understand it here, hte questions regarding help was the wrong once at the persons embassy. He could have asked for help with finding a lawyer, or with help contacting relatives to speed things up. I guess he was expecting to recieve economical help from his embassy. That is, if it is what you are suggesting, very hard. Here there is only a few embassies in the world that will do this, and most of them needs to know there is an income to pay back the money with.

"What you can do is to live Thailand ASAP!!" ???? I guess you are suggesting that he "leave" Thailand ASAP. The OP has over and over again stated that he wishes to clear this the legal way. He has also informed that the land border checkpoints and the airports have information in the system. How do you suggest he leaves Thailand ASAP? In a container? Risking to be shot running the side of the border checkpoint?

P.s. If you wrote right and meant "live"???? In that case. What are you suggesting and what do you really mean?

  3. I guess you didn´t need your vitamins, or did you find another place where they honoured the discount for you?

With that I mean. The shop told you it was expired, which is as close to an appologize you will find in such a situation in Thailand. After that they offered to sell the vitamins to you at regular price, but you suddenly refused and didn´t want to do that. That clearly means to me, that the need for vitamins is only visible if they are on sale at a great discount.

Now today, in Udon, we have a low signal problem with our cable TV here. Low and behold we still had three guys to come and fix it.

Nice to know that at least something in a constant over here.

Yes, millions of them, from Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos - but there are special loopholes to allow them in repeatedly (no land-border limit).

Certainly you don't mean a few English teachers, whose schools (often govt schools) refuse to provide the proper paperwork, are really the cause of this?

Maybe not the cause up to the full glass of shit, but a part of it.
However, As a person taking a work as a teacher in Thailand, it´s up to you to see to that you get all and the required paperwork. Otherwise you are mostly working illegally in Thailand.
Why would somebody with a clear mind wnat a job at a place where they do not provide the paperwork needed. You just can´t break the law to be able to pay and support your stya in Thailand, just because they do and want you to do too.

  6. As ststed by Tim, it´s better to make another choice than Penang to get your tourist visa. On the other hand, the problem is niether Penang or any other place that provide them.
I guess this is something we will see more of in a near future in more countries and emassies, due to that there are too many people using tourist visas for entering the country and doing illegal acts. Also too many using tousit visas for basically living and making a living in Thailand. Unfortunately you and every other tourist that follows the rules, will eventually have to suffer for what other people do.

  7. Have you ever tried to chose the ordinary way of not using illegal drugs and breaking the law?

You know, then you don´t have to act at all. Just need to be yourself.

Worked for me about 18 years now, so I consider myself quite an expert on the case.

Im looking to either go to any of the surrounding countries that border Thailand by air or land to exit and pay the fine but what am worried about is how I can re enter Thailand and wether I will be denied entry for my overstay . As I can see from internet there’s only info about a ban if you exceed 90 days but there’s no info about if you overstay but don’t exceed the 90 days other than paying the fine which i understand.

You are right regarding this. However, that is if you surrender yourself, pay the fine and leave the country. If they would catch you, it would be a totally different thing, and you would be banned from entering for 1 year.

In reality, you hsould just be able to leave the country and re-enter the second day or same week. That is in line with the set rules. However, as you are probably well aware of, the rules are implemented at the discretion of the IO that you meet at entering the country.

My suggestion to you would be. Book a ticket to your home country, due to that is well recieved in the eyes of the Immigration. When there, apply for a tourist visa and do not try to enter directly with a visa exemption tactic. See to that you have your 20000 to show and your bookings and flight home ticket is possible to show.

As I say, you should have no problem as long as they do not catch you before you give yourself up at the airport. Unfortunately there are no guarantees, though.

Also be very sure that you are going to get grilled with questions when you try to re-enter the country. Be polite and appologize for your misstake. You learned and will not repeat the offense. After all you have a lovely person you want to stay with here, and want to show her that you are a respectful person and good for country and people.

    Good Luck!

I knew someone in a similar situation who had his passport stolen. He didn't obtain the necessary docs from the British Embassy here and when we went to Chaeng Watthana with his new passport he had over stayed 50 days. They weren't sure whether to make him pay a huge fine or detain him. In the end they took him to the IDC for a few days before he was sent on a flight home. Got a 1 year ban even though he has a business here. He is currently in Phnom Pehn waiting to come back.

Yeah, but this is exactly the wrong way of using the emergency travel documents. Emergency stand for something you need quick for not get an overstay, or at least not more than maximum a few days, which both Chaeng Watthana and airport Immigration not raising any eyebrows over.

Here you say that he waited until he had a 50 day overstay, before trying to fix his problem. His fault for beeing negligent and respectless against both himself, his company and possible family. He unfortunately got what he deserved according to laid down rules that all people already know. You can´t just wait 50 days illegally, and then think everybody is going to be happy when you want to fix your problem.

And the problem had been going on for ages in the community in Samsoong district.

And everybody is trying to say that thai people have a short fuse. Now it´s confirmed. It takes years before they react.

The one that react too quick, without thinking, have already blown the fuse ages ago.

I imagine it would be quite rare that a Thai passport holder cannot even speak Thai

Don´t worry! It´s not as rare as you might think. I personally know 4 thai nationals that has been growing up in the states. Today they have dual citizenship and both US an Thai passports. Only 1 of them actually speaks thai.

And there is also no worries about you entering Thailand on your thai passport. You will not have any problem with a military conscription of any kind.

The power of attorney is for the landlord to complete. This allows the tenant to register their address instead of having the landlord make the trip to immigration.

As usual different everywhere. I could just go into immigration and say that I want to register, and they took the information together with a copy of passport and contract.

Always wondered why people need to get involved with 'what's he doing' is it legal is it not legal blah blah blah

I guess it has to do with abiding the law, and law abiding people/citizens. Just wonder where you and your private law book draws the line?

For the answer to OP question: Yes he must have a work permit. In this case that must be connected to a registered car business, with a minumum of 4 Thai persons employed. As he is working right now, he will not get that. What he is doing is therefore illegal.

  14. Can´t think of any issues you might have with this, mor than what Crossy already have explained. According to my knowledge, and experience, that things you mentioned sholud not raise any eyebrows regarding the need to pay import duties. There is absolutely no need for your wife to be in the US for a certain amount of time, because it will count as personal belongings out of the reason that she has been living in and are a citizen in USA.

However, as I mentioned already, this is the knowledge I have out of my experiences. When I moved my stuff, I was using V-Serve in Bangkok, Sukhumvit 77 as transport company. They were very good and could take care and explain everything in plain english. They also gave a very good price, but the number is irrelevant today due to that it´s 12 years ago. The advise I can give you is to talk to the transport and logistics company. They will have all the answers for you.

Look at it this way. If a cop get's a stick up his a*** and decides to profile you as he doesn't like how you look, he has you in a nut shell and can go to every place you go to making your life uncomfortable. They might even find something that is not Thainess and kick you out. You must not get out much. Even many of these posts OP's write are against protocol and could be construed illegal by the compute crimes act.

Live in your wierd little bubble world
