    To GetReal.

    UK and USA embassies ?

I am not so well aware over their rules and regulations, but I would like to hear from you, how long time you can reside on tourist visas without risking refusal or questions regarding your stay?

Given there are 7 or 8 billion people on the planet and most of them live horrible lives, negative and bad experiences are the ''normal". Our privileged and wonderful lives in rich western countries are anything but "normal" in the greater experience of humanity.

Most part of the 7-8 billion people on the planet lives horrible lifes. Hmm....According to your scale of judgement about quality of life?

Many farmers in Thailand, as one example, do not consider their life miserable. Therefore you can not put them in your own little box of horrible lifes. Most of them have their own land and houses. That´s many times more than a person in the western world have. There many people rent their homes. How do you equaly measure and difine the best quality of life in thoose two scenarios.

In China you have the biggest country regarding popilation on earth. Most of the farmers there also have their land and their own house. I do not think that they either think of their lifes as miserable, even if they would like to have a better standing in society.

I thought it was a normal life.

Yes, of course. If you only have experience from one thing, that will automatically turn out to seem normal. Unfortunately, that is not always the truth.

Normal guys live in their home country all their lives and eat the shit their women and government heap on them.

Normal women also live in their home countries all their lives, but take all they can, from normal guys, and their government.

As usual a super serious comment of great intelligence from you. Thanks, once again!
You must have been having a miserable life with only negative and bad experiences.

There are no "normal" people, ergo there can be no "normal" lives.

Everyone is an individual, quite different from everyone else, and it is the trying to make people conform to some mythical "normal" that causes so many people to have psychological problems.

If there was such a thing as "normal" we'd be sheep, not people.

PS, "normal" people don't claim to live on the moon.

    Funny guy, ain´t you?

Of course there is something called normal in relation to people and humans. That does not create any kind of psychological problems that some unnamed people seem to be dealing with.

There are a lot of normal things that regards everyone in society, but unfortunately you seem to missed them. I just end it there. Guess it´s enough.

  6. If the consulate need to see that you have sufficient funds to get a visa, then I have always used a printed copy of my online bank statement or went in to the bank and have them print a statement with a stamp from the bank officer. Both have been working. That is for consultate, if needed.

Regarding the visa you are applying for, you might be questioned at arrival to, and entrance into Thailand by an Immigrantion officer. If that is the case at a border control or airport, then it is only valid to show cash money.

In both cases it does not matter what currency you are showing the amount of money in, as long as it is eqvivalent to 20000 baht.

  7. If want to stay long time in Thailand, read the rules and regulations. At the same time take notice of what is going on with cracking down on people that are using tourists visas for long stay, or ED-visas and Non-b just for try to stay longer. The combination speaks for it self. Your friend might be lucky one or two times more, but he will eventually or very soon run into a definite stop. If no have any means to own up to the right visas for long stay, then I would guess that your friend would have to consider another country very soon. Good Luck, though!

  8. Personally, I do believe that you should choose both. That the spanish girl should live with the believes that your trips to Thailand alone without her, is totally faitful ones ain´t gonna fly.
That Joyce would think that you do not ever live or sleep with another girl in your home country, is also a very small chance.

Here we will then have the facts that all 3 involved is aware of reality. That, in clear and uncensored text, means that all parties also do something unfaitful. All are basically the same.

Actually - many do.  Under-50s not married to a Thai and with independent-income which means no need to work don't have many other stay-options, and the rules do not prohibit repeated stays on Tourist visas.

Many using Tourist stays have cars or motos in other nearby SEA countries, also.   Even though those countries offer sane options for under-50s for longer stays (money-in bank for the PI, "Buy a Visa" for ~$360/yr in Cambodia, 1-yr ME Tourist-Visa for Vietnam), they seem to find no reason to hassle or block repeat-tourists from spending money into their economies.  I wonder why Thailand is the outlier?

I am sure we are talking in the eyes of an Immigration officer. Not your own opinion.
Tourist Visa, means that you come to a country as a tourist. That hardly do not qualify for owning a car or having a permanent adress in a house you buildt during the last 5 years, right?

He can get one year extension of stay at immigration for 1900 as a Thai national.

Other option are leaving and returning on Thai passport.

Children under 15 are not subject to overstay fine but gets a overstay stamp in the passport.

That´s of course 2 alternatives. I am not 100% sure, but isn´t it possible to get a Thai passport for the child in Thailand, and clear the issue at an Immigration office after the passport is issued? In that case also don´t have to pay 1900 Bath?

Go back to your home country and then get a name change and a new passport.....I guess that's the best solution. also get 20k in case they ask you.

That was that worse try to help, I´ve ever heard. Yes, right! Go home and change your name and passport. Why don´t you just go ahead and change your personal security number to, which are the only constant that links the passports together in the system? Does not seem so easy no more, right?

You just advised him, according to what Immigration is going to think, to break the law again by trying by himself to sneak into the country under falsified information.
Are you trying to give him a 10 year ban?

No doubt this Tax Law is rather confusing. It can be interpeted several different ways. But back tracking some it goes like this:

Any money earned and owned by you, prior to moving to Thailand, is your free and clear. So no problems transfering money to buy a Condo or such, as it is not considered for tax purposes.

They have 2 catigories for Personal Income Taxes in Thailand. Either being a "Resident" or being a "Non-Resident". To be a Non-Resident means that you actually resided in Thailand less than 180 Days. But this does not mean you are not subject to taxes. You are required to pay Income Taxes on all money earned in Thailand. That is stardard for most countries. Go work in the USA for 3 months and you will find the same.

The other catigory is being a "Resident". To be a Resident for Income Tax purposes in Thailand you have had to live in Thailand in the tax year for 180 days or more. If that is the case then Thailand is considered your home. You are subject to all income earned in Thailand as well as all world wide income. Part of the confusion lies in when or if you bring this money into Thailand. How would they know this money was earned money, or money from you previous savings account?  Well, and as far as I can tell, they wouldn't know.

Generally speaking, most people who  live in Thailand longer than 180 days a year work in Thailand also. Even Overseas Work where you work a 28 //28, with travel time you would be in Thailand less than 180 days a year, so a "Non-Resient", and not have to declare this income. But this doesn't address the many people living here on Pensions, Stocks and Bonds, Dividends, or Saving Accouunts. That is the Grey Area.

Many of these payment have withholding tax from the country they are earned. Thailand has many tax treaties with many different countries. So as long as you are paying income Taxes to somebody else on this income, you shouldn't be liable to taxes in Thailand also. But???

Keep on living in the land of dreams. I sincerely hope you are happy.

  13. This is out of what I believe I know.

As far as your visa status, that is absolutely irrelevant to paying tax in Thailand.

You stay over 180 days per year, your considered as a person that shall pay tax in Thailand.
You stay under 180 days per year there is no tax to be payed in Thailand.

Regarding the source of your income, there is also different how this rule will be applied.

Pension is what I know not taken into consideration for an amount that you need to pay tax for.
Regarding money on your bank account or an income from other source, it has to do with when that money was earned.
If the money was earned the calendar year before the one you transferred it to Thailand, it will not be an amount taken into consideration for as a taxable income in Thailand.
If the money was earned the samr calendar year that you transfer the money to Thailand, it is considered an amount that shall be taxable in Thailand.

I am sure another poster can clarify this if I am wrong, or cement the facts as I see them above.

  14. Still some places will tell they issue, while other cities say they don´t.
If you happen to reside with an authority in a city that do issue both yellow books and thai ID-cards, then there is not much differens regarding the two items.

The yellow Tabien Baan, like you say is very handy for getting a driver license. For other things both the items is going to have the same purpose. Making it eaisier to deal with authorities, sign dokuments and open a bank account. That´s basically it. If somebody have something essential I have missed, then I am sure they will comment below.
