Fact is that you replied in post #12 to someone who was talking specifically about National Parks... Private parks were not the subject.
I do wish you'd read post twelve and the rest of the thread properly.
The comments in general were all about posters getting a Thai price at VARIOUS venues, not just National Parks.
Yes, I highlighted a post by LivinLOS who was the only poster to say he was refused the Thai price at two National Parks. I highlighted his post because the initial part of my reply was to ask him which National Parks he was referring to.
I then went on with the second part of my post to inform people in general that I had also received various discounts and gave three examples of recent discounts I had received in Pattaya.
QuoteWhere and when was that?
Was clearly asking which National Parks he was referring to.
I then posted:
QuoteLast time I used mine to get Thai admission prices was at three different venues in Pattaya (a Water Park in Bang Saray, underwaterworld and Nong Nooch gardens) a few weeks ago during the Songkran festival
this was the general information about successfully using my ID card and clearly has NO reference to ANY National Park.

These are not National Parks but private businesses, and these 3 allow foreigners to get the discounted prices as long as they can prove they are not on here a Tourist Visa.
So the discounts I received don't count then because they're not National Parks...........I still got the discounts because I had a pink ID card, and I did have to show my pink ID card at the ticket window. Does that mean, because they're not National Parks, I have to give the discount back then???????

Then they want confirmation when you arrive at that address.
Quite often you state your registered residential address, then stay overnight or longer at a hotel, before arriving at the place stated on your arrival card, when you should then file the TM30.
Also, with the limited space available on the arrival card, the full address isn't always written down properly.

Jomtien has not been wanting a TM30 report for those on long stay extensions. That seems to be how it has been for you.
I agree Jomtien have not wanted TM30 reports for people on long stay extensions but there have been one or two recent reports of people being fined for not doing one.........and at Si Racha, who are part of the same Chonburi Immigration department, it certainly has been a requirement.
When I had to visit the UK last year I checked with Si Racha to ask about the TM30 requirements on my return. They told me it was necessary and, when I went there with my TM30, the TM30 office at the rear of the building was packed out, both with people returning to Thailand and people being fined for not doing/doing a late TM30 report.
And, when my daughter and her family came to stay on holiday with us in April, Si Racha again said filing a TM30 for them was a necessity.
With both Jomtien and Si Racha both being part of the same Chonburi Immigration department I guess it can go one of two ways in the future, either Si Racha will relax their requirements OR Jomtien will tighten up on theirs in the future. And I know where my money would be.

No.
Thanks. I was sure that was so, but a friend, who has been living/working here for several years and part owns a foreign-based company here in Thailand, travels outside Thailand several times a year (for both business and pleasure). His secretary organises all his travel plans, work permit, 90-day reports, etc for him but they were shocked Friday when I mentioned TM30's, neither of them had ever heard of them. Not sure whether he/his company owns his house or whether it's rented but he's lived there for several years.

Cardholder can not leave his dwelling place without police permission
Not correct. That only applies to foreigners staying in Thailand with refugee status where they are given a specific place to stay in Thailand.

Flat refusal at 2 national parks I saw it attempted at.
Left the holder highly deflated after banging on that it would allow Thai price entry.Where and when was that?
Last time I used mine to get Thai admission prices was at three different venues in Pattaya (a Water Park in Bang Saray, underwaterworld and Nong Nooch gardens) a few weeks ago during the Songkran festival and got the Thai price. Not only that, I had five family members on holiday from the UK with me and (at the water park and Underwaterworld) I was told I could buy entrance tickets for them, using my pink ID card, for the Thai price as well.????

Sometimes you still can, but not always, and Driving licences are being accepted at less and less places all the time.

What is a pink card and how do you get it?
It's a non-Thai ID card.
First you must get a Yellow Tabien Baan, then you get the pink ID card from your local Amphur.

That is not the case. No one is exempt from 90 day reporting.
Every year the Smart Visa holder must provide actual proof of address. The 90 day reports are being made by the BOI Smart Visa team at the One Stop.
Is anybody, on any type of visa/work permit, exempt from doing a TM30?

I would think this would flag up when he returns and does his first 90 days. Maybe?
When he returns it would/should flag up within 24 hours of arrival when he does his TM30.

Thanks Ubonjoe. What a bummer. A very expensive trip into London from the Isle of Wight if I ever apply there again. The ferry alone will be way over 100 pounds.
From the current ferry website:
QuoteThe most popular route is Portsmouth to Fishbourne. The average price this month for this route is £25.50 for a car and two people each way.
I don't know how much the price varies with early/late bookings but the website does say average so there must be some bookings that are less than £25.50 each way.

You are asking the thai embassy for a visa and not your own country. All you need is enough money in the bank, hotel booking, airplane tickets.
Im not working at the moment as well and i got a 1 year METV without problem.
I believe the OP comes from India and, according to the SETV/METV application form, he must provide proof of occupation/employment in India to the Thai Embassy in India.

Awesome question.
Because some IO asks for it. (Based on posts here and on FB.) Hence the use of the word "may".
Sign outside Immigration: Please Discard All Common Sense Before Entering.
I might be wrong but, only asked for if using the money in the bank method.
I've not seen any reports here about needing account activity on the day of applying when using the monthly income option.

You may also have to get a same day account ownership letter and demonstration of same-day activity.
Why? The Income based requirement is to show monthly transfers into your Thai account from abroad over the previous year, amounting to at least 65k baht each month. There is no requirement that you need to show you have used the account on any particular day.

OK. So it's the end of the month. Sufficient funds in my UK bank to make June's 65k baht transfer so I went onto Transferwise this morning (31st) to start the process. Got to the final screen before confirming the transaction and there was a statement that it would be in my Bankok bank account TODAY! I had to cancel it in case they were telling the truth. Now this evening I go to the site to do the transfer once the Thai banks are closed and there was no possibility of the transfer arriving in my account before June and the bloody pound has fallen again. 65K baht now costs just over a tenner more than it did this morning. If only we could be certain that Immigration would accept that a foreign transfer arriving on the last day of the previous month would be treated as being for the next month but we can't, can we?
Transferwise guarentees the rate for twenty four hours when you set up the transfer, so you don't have to transfer the money immediately. Just set up the transfer on line, to the point of sending the money, then transfer the actual money later in the day, as long as it's transfered into their account the same day you'll get that rateyou were originally offered.
I've found that, if I complete a transfer before 8 - 9am Thai time (8am during the UK winter time, 9am during the UK summer time), the money is in my Bangkok bank by about 2-2.30pm (Thai time) the same day. If I complete the transfer after that time the money will arrive the following day.

What office are you actually using?
-
Order a sim from here:
You can order direct (slower) or have it sent to a friend and have them send it to you (quicker and more reliable).
You can activate the sim on line from Thailand plus, to keep it active you only need to send one text message every six months (I just send a text to my Thai number from the Giff Gaff number). Can also top up on line if necessary.
I've been using mine just for receiving UK banking OTP's while living in Thailand for a few years now.

Ten VOA's in six months.
At 15 days a time that means you have spent about five of those six months living in Thailand. And the other month seems to be staying in other border hop countries. If I was the IO, I'd be asking "how much time do you actually spend 'visiting' your own country"? VOA's are not designed to allow you to live almost permanently in Thailand. No wonder Immigration are likely to refuse you another VOA entry.
Take the advice of other posters here and look at alternative visas available, however difficult you think they might be to obtain.

If you live outside Thailand you can renew your ID card at the Thai Embassy in the country you are living. At least you can in the UK.

Have never used income letter. Always money in bank. Previously just made sure the 800 was there for 3 months then just lived off it for next several months. I really hate these new requirements but I accept as I wish to live here.
Slightly unrelated. After the money in bank changes (800 for 3 month after then min 400k), I hatched a plan to obtain my next extension with money in bank, with no intention of maintaining it in bank after extension granted. Then just prior to permission expire return to Au and obtain a non O-A.
Then they introduced the compulsory insurance for O-A. Maybe they are more clever than I imagined.
Yes, these 'minor changes' can be really disruptive for some. I've watched 'minor' changes to the various visa/extension rules over the years and think 'today's' changes are just a small part of a long term plan to update and streamline the outdated system we have at the moment. I think the new 800k rules actually make the income method a more attractive option than money in the bank. contrary to popular belief on TV I actually think encouraging the income method is the preferred option for the powers that be and the 800k option would only remain available (and more controllable) to those who don't have the required monthly income.
Could that not be an alternative option for you?
But back to your initial problem. You shouldn't have to, but do you know another Thai person (other than your wife who has a BB account at a different branch? Then go, with him, to his branch and start by saying the Au letter isn't an option but your friend will offer his reference as the preferred option right from the start instead of just asking them to state what your options are. The bank has a list of reference options and, if an Au letter or Au bank letter is listed before a friends reference you can never get to it unless you offer the friend option before they look at the list.
I hope this makes sense.

Did you get an income letter before they were stopped in December or do you use the 800k method for your extensions?

I opened a Bangkok Bank account at the Si Racha branch in January. Easy and straight forward.
On their website it gives a list of what documents are needed, including:
2. Foreigner without work permit
- Passport
-
A reference letter issued by one of the following institutes or organizations or required document
- Embassy located in Thailand
- An overseas bank where the customer holds an account sent via SWIFT
- Trusted individuals such as a Bangkok Bank staff member or customer, director of a private company, permanent residence in Thailand, government or private educational institutes located in Thailand trusted by the Bank
- Trusted companies, e.g., an employment letter from the company if the customer is in the process of applying for a work permit.
- Document showing ownership of a fixed asset such as a condominium sale/purchase agreement (a condominium which is acceptable to Bangkok Bank) Or a property reservation agreement valued at 100,000 baht or more with a reference letter from the property developer that is acceptable to Bangkok Bank.
I also used my yellow book as a second form of confirmation of my address. (could also have used my wife's ID card and Tabien Baan but she needed to be with me then)
Note, only one reference letter is required from the list.
The reference letter is just to confirm your name, passport number and permanent address in Thailand from an official/trusted source. I didn't need a new letter from the Embassy, I just used the income letter I received from the British Embassy in December. It contained all the information they required, and more.
They probably went on to ask about needing a reference from your Australian bank because you'd said a letter from the Embassy was not an option.
A friend who has a Bangkok Bank account can also supply the reference required if no other options are available.

The NHS is great. Your mate's "bird" didn't really get treated for free, as Settlement visas require a NHS fee of (I think £400) to be paid, for the initial visa and then again for LTR. But it's still good value.

That £400 went up to £600 for the initial 2.5 years with another £600 for the next 2.5 years.............and I believe each of those £600 payments increased to £900 as from last month.
