Ah...the classic "I personally have no problems. so naturally there are no problems"!

Please don't forget to ad the "If you don't like it, go home"- BS!

Can you read? I never said there are no problems, I merely provided a counterpoint plus asked in what way Immigration could ease up on expats. And don't ever assume you can read into my inner thoughts with your "don't forget to ad, etc". Mind you, I note you are a "senior member" so perhaps your faculties are failing.

Tell that to the Tourism Minister! Oh, and give him a hug while you're at it!

TNA reported that the Minister for Tourism and Sports went to Koh Samui on a fact finding mission to hear local opinion as the tourism sector suffers a downtown in the number of visitors.

I'm not claiming that tourist numbers are increasing, I'm merely pointing out to the moaners and complainers on this thread that the tourists haven't stopped coming, just that there's less of them. Tourism remains a major income stream for the kingdom.

Tesco just isn't as popular in Thailand, the small stores are a 3rd or 4th choice for me. The big stores aren't busy (compared to Big C Extra) and the prices aren't attractive enough to make the effort and go there

....and yet, whenever I go to Tesco they have lots of specials and are cheaper than Big C, the smaller local stores are very handy. Go figure.

There are places but it's just not that popular with locals op, who prefer the 'real' thing (with a label on) from a bottle. At the end of the day, you're looking to pay a bit more for 'fresh' homogenized froth which is meh enough at the best of times. Go figure.

My advice: Go Beer Lao or big it up with some Belgian lagers as above. By the way, is No1 bar still around?

Number 1 is still going strong.

Why do they need foreign teachers? Thai students are not allowed to fail subjects or exams, and Thai teachers are known to manipulate their students' low grades by giving every student, automatically, a 50 or 60% score, whether he or she, after studying English for 12+ years, can string a sentence together, or not. - On paper, all Thais can speak English well.

Wonder, why, reportedly, Thai pilots (and other specialists) find it hard to get hired abroad...

If that is in fact the case, why do Thai students rate so low in the annual exam results that are published? Only 1 subject averaging above 50%.

Many bars in Annusarn market have Chang draught as does the Thai Taste Café/Bar opposite the Red Lion on Loi Kroi.

Thanks. It seems there's Chang on draught in some CM bars but no Singha. A real pity as it is my favorite brew. I simply cannot understand why though.

If you mean craft (and the underground brewers) drop into and make friends with

    Namtons Craft beer https://www.facebook.com/namtonshousebar/

    Parallel Universe Etc https://www.facebook.com/puol2ohm/

    My Beer Friend https://www.facebook.com/myBEERfriend/

    Mikrocosmos Chiang Dao https://www.facebook.com/MicrokosmosCraftBeerChiangDao/

    The Yellow Pug https://www.facebook.com/Theyellowpug/

These places will when your a regular open up about the local brew scene, maybe alert you to red cup tasting parties etc.. Its not that well hidden, one of the major brewers here is also a local government guy so its not like its cloak and dagger.

Of course then theres a national level of Soi beer, Chit Beer, Stone head brewing, Duckie fly, etc etc.. A lot of these are moving to cambodia border and importing legally to get around the brew laws. Or at least from what I am told they claim to brew there, and make deals to pay tax as import, on beer still made here ????

Thanks but what I should’ve clarified in my post was Chang, Leo or Singha on tap.

that depend on load and promos. i dont think y bought an full price eco ticket ( in this case fares are comparable). depending on promos and reduced fares, one time this airline cheaper and another day thai.

You cant say Thai is always more expensive espec on longhaul flights.

Actually I can say Thai are more expensive on long haul flights because I have actual experience of this booking flights several times a year. One cannot argue with facts. Thai are over-priced. However, in other areas such as comfort and food they are as good as anyone else in my opinion.
