  1. Right now everyone that returns to Thailand must quarantine for a minimum of 14 days at a government sponsored facility or a government approved hotel that is adjacent to one of the government sponsored hospitals. There is a hotel "upgrade option" and those expenses are paid by the individual as is the cost of passage on a repatriation flight. Once the individual has entered the facility or hotel they are screened on a daily basis by medical staff assigned to that facility or Hospital. Perfectly vague yet ? No visitors are allowed.

  2. You still have to show the source of the income and the monthly amount. Your deposits from your pension into your bank in your home country are acceptable. I just renewed mine last week and they wanted 12 months of pension statements plus a letter from my Thai bank. I apply using the 65000 baht per month option. The embassy letter is an affidavit of residency and income but not proof of income.

I assume you have a Thai bank account, if so you'll need to bring your bank book as well. Also print out a map of  your home location. Otherwise You may be asked to draw a map. Even though they can look it up on their computer Its just part of the stress tests.

Many local lawyers will review your papers and fill out the forms make copies and submit them for you at immigration ( you're there together) for a reasonable fee. Usually 2000 baht. Don't pay any more than that. But it streamlines the sillyness.

  3. Obviously some of these boys didn't do their English and American history lessons regarding the "Colonies" in America and the policies put in place by the English governors for the colonists to be armed and form militias to defend themselves. Where do they think the guns came from initially , yes that's right jolly old England...The mechanism was already in place.

We're just carrying on the family tradition. Gee I love this bar ..

  4. If you say so but my gf is confirmed on a repatriation flight from UAE.(she's not Thai she's traveling on a UK Passport.)  As I said before each person has to coordinate with Thai immigration In the host country and pay for passage in advance and pay in advance for quarantine accomodations on arrival. It's a tedious process because of the ambiguous procedures the backlog is getting bigger and unfortunately many Thai people there are service workers that lost their jobs weeks ago and are out of money. Now as Ramadan winds down UAE is imposing a stricter curfew as well.

    No end to the madness...

  5. The point is there's no detrimental effects of supplements other than the expense. You still need to eat healthy. But if the government health staff are such experts then why don't they provide some recommendations about nutrition to the Thai people instead of mandates. ( Silly masks etc) Their diets are horrid with too much oil, salt sugar etc. Storing food without refrigeration etc.

Amazingly they seem to be immune to everything. One thing for sure is we're all allergic to the Morons.

  6. Good news, the ship is sinking but you can upgrade your stateroom with a valid credit card. " Have it your way " Now we need a color chart.

    Thanks Dr Weewee.

More delusional rubbish and they have the nerve to actually publish this nonsense. Have any of these "officials" ever actually been anywhere overseas and come back on their own without adult supervision ? Makes ya wonder ?

  7. If the government would have done nothing more than halt inbound flights results would be samesame. These people are immune to everything ! But this administration seems to want to have bragging rights (for what trashing the economy?) And patting each other on the back and congratulating each other taking credit for doing what ? My dear departed dad called them all Civil Service Rockets..." They don't work and you can't fire em " !

  8. No there are alot of honest and  lovely ladies but I've seen so many guys that " fall in love " from the day they arrive and become victims. Just need to be cautious. I'm not a victim so I'm not bitter just the opposite. I'm 67 and in good health divorced twice and single now and enjoying the freedom without commitment and having fun being selective with who I date or socialize with. I live alone but am never lonely and have many activities to keep occupied. All the best !

  9. Consider your true net "entertainment" budget as well. Stay single so you can mingle and enjoy life here but if you allow yourself to be tied down they will drain every available baht out of you ! With that said do what you like get a nice place to live (Rent don't buy, property is essentially worthless here with no appreciation and the inability to own) Get a nice car and or motorbike and travel around, get to know local expats and locals (helps when you can go to pubs for this.) I don't go into monetary formulas but I do project my annual expenses in all categories each year. Be sure to include travel and entertainment expenses such as : Bars, restaurants,  bar fines , hotels , airfares. There's no point in retiring if you're going to live like a pauper. I would not advise living on savings and "waiting for your pension" unless you've lost your job or just can't bear it anymore. Establish an income stream as advised by the other posters here and use your savings as your buffer. I own a home here but will never sell it so it's not an asset but it's my refuge. I live well on 100,000 baht per month but if I need something or want to travel somewhere I just do it. How ?

Most western banks and investment houses will let you establish a line of credit based on your holdings. You essentially borrow from yourself when ever the need arises at low ,low interest such as the LIBOR rate. In any case enjoy the show because it's a riot living here ( couldn't possibly be real could it ) ?
