  1. Bangkok. All major hospitals seem to offer it, so I was wondering whether there’s any differences or any specialist or whether I should just pick the cheapest one.
  2. Can anyone recommend a hospital/doctor to do a sleep study and prescribe or advise on a CPAP machine (or similar measures against snoring)? I saw all the major hospitals offer something but I’m not sure if there’s any specialist or so…
  3. Is there any law/regulation stating that PR holders don’t need to do the 90 days reporting? I received my usual notification from HR that my 90 days reporting is due. Normally they collect my passport, do it online and then return the passport within a couple of days. After telling them that I have recently been granted PR they now say they need to do the 90 days reporting at Chaengwatthana and need my passport, my PR book and my red book for it. I don’t have a problem giving all that to them, I am just surprised because I thought PR holders don’t need to do 90 days reporting anymore.
  4. I guess it is as so often with the authorities here and will depend on how each officer interprets things. The instruction letter I received from IB only states I would need to bring the red book for the endorsement and reentry permit, so technically they would never know if I fail to remove myself from/add myself to a tabian baan as long as I keep going to the police station every five years. Then others in this thread apparently were asked for the TB at the immigration. Anyway, thank you everyone for the information.
  5. The lady didn’t mention the contents or purpose of the interview. She just said I have to come in for an interview, together with the house owner and a Thai witness. After that I’ll have to come again one more time to pick up the pink card, again together with the house owner and the Thai witness. So altogether that’s three visits to the district office. Anyway, guess there’s no point complaining but I’ll just have to follow their orders even though it’s all quite over complicated and cumbersome especially after already having received the PR book and having fulfilled all those requirements. Is that really the case? It seems that, at least in practice, your PR depends on the police registration and the house registration. Otherwise I would simply ignore these steps and keep living in my rented condo as I do, without all these additional registrations that I never needed. But it seems in that case I would lose the PR or at least get fined or not get the endorsement and reentry permit, so it seems in practice there’s no PR without the police and house registration, unfortunately.
  6. Interesting. Any idea how to address this? The lady at the district office was pretty clear about this and said she’s processing a lot of PRs. In fact, it’s actually in line with what the original author of this PR guide here described on the very first page of this thread. But even my friend who received his PR some 10 years ago or so couldn’t remember having to jump through these hoops. Could it be because I don’t own a condo but will be on my gf‘s house book? The instruction letter from the IB only said that I have to do: (1) pick up PR book from IB; (2) go to police station for red book alien registration; (3) go to district office for house registration tabian baan. It didn’t mention I have to bring a witness and go there three times. I’ve completed (1) and (2) and received 6 years red book (1+5 years).
  7. Questions about house registration I learned that after you received the PR you have to: 1. Go to the police station for alien registration, together with your landlord and his tabian baan 2. Go to the district office together with your landlord and his tabian baan, only for them to make copies and send a letter to the IB 3. Go to the district office again, together with your landlord and his tabian baan and a Thai witness for another Thai interview 4. Go to the district office again, together with your landlord and his tabian baan and the Thai witness, only to pick up your pink card Questions: — What happens if you fail that additional Thai interview? — Do you have to go through these steps again every 5 years? — Do you have to go through these steps again every time you change your residence? — Do you need any of this for the yearly endorsement and re-entry visa (the letter from the IB says you only need your alien registration, but then it also never mentioned that you need to go to the district office 3 times with an additional witness) I didn’t expect the process to be this over complicated and cumbersome after you’re supposed to already have received your PR. Im wondering what people do who don’t have a Thai witness or who are single and living in a rented condo. What Thai landlord would join his tenant 4 times? This must be a conspiracy to make you never break up with your Thai gf or to buy a condo haha
  8. According to another poster above, IB checks the red book when you get an endorsement/re-entry permit. Is that the case? I don’t have an issue telling the police where I live, I’m just concerned what would happen should I not have a Thai let me on his house registration, or should I ever decide to leave the country permanently (and only return a few times per year). If above information is correct, would I lose my PR because I couldn’t any longer get the red book registration and therefore no endorsement and reentry permit? Or would it be possible to either get the red book on a foreign address or get the endorsement and reentry permit without the updated red book?
  9. Wait, I thought the PR itself is a visa and its purpose is für you to not need a visa anymore (ie., a permanent visa)? What’s the purpose of having PR if you still need to get a separate visa? This doesn’t make sense to me…
  10. I wasn’t even aware that you need to renew the PR (I assume that’s the blue book you’re referring to). When do I have to renew the PR book? It wasn’t written in the instruction sheet that the IB gave me (it only said I need to get endorsement and re-entry permit before leaving to keep my PR valid). And what’s the white book? Will I get that from the district office/house registration? So far I only have: - PR book (blue book) - Alien registration (red book)
  11. 1) You write “renew your PR”. Is this really a renewal of PR or just a renewal of the alien registration? 2) Do they require the house book for that 5 year update? I’m currently only my gf’s condo but you never know how things go… should I ever break up with her and leave Thailand, I guess I could also kiss goodbye to the PR then?
  12. Question : I learned that the alien registration (red book) with the police has to be renewed every 5 years. What happens if you fail to do that? I am just thinking ahead if either of the following happens: 1. Break up with gf so I can’t be registered on her house book anymore 2. Moving abroad to live abroad (while returning to Thailand once a year)
  13. Can anyone recommend a good physiotherapist or physiotherapy clinic in Bangkok?
  14. There shouldn’t be anything to pay for you because the employer should take care of it. I would be odd to hire someone and then charge him for things that he requires to perform his duties. Similarly, for any “documentation” required, your employer should take care of this. 98% of the paperwork has to come from them; the only paperwork required from the employee should be the passport, basic personal information, photos, and maybe a CV if I recall correctly. The health check is something they may ask you to get yourself and give it to them but even this should ideally be arranged and paid/reimbursed by the employer. A good HR/employer has a standard process for all this plus people helping you through it. how was it done by your current employer?
  15. FYI, I received a call from my IB officer that my application was successful and that I can make an appointment to pay the 192k fee and pick up the PR book. It seems other applicants also received a call as she mentioned that the slots to pick up the PR book for next week are filling up.
  16. Moving abroad as PR? Is it possible to move abroad (leave Thailand) as a PR as long as you get your re-entry endorsement and don’t stay abroad for more than a year a time? Or would there be an issue with that house registration or simply because you’re not really a permanent resident anymore?
  17. How you do it back home?
  18. Thanks, that’s good to know. My next extension is coming up soon so let me see what happens there.
  19. Those that applied for PR in Dec‘21 (and had their Thai language interview in Apr‘22): Has anyone of you heard anything back yet? Just wanna make sure I’m not the only one who’s still waiting for response.
  20. Bad enough to disrespect other people’s property and destroy a piece of art. Even worse to not have the guts to apologize and pay compensation. I hope those morons face justice.
  21. Thanks, will discuss with a dermatologist. Any dermatologist you would recommend btw? I’m already seeing 2-3 different ones but don’t really know how good they are.
  22. Is Tacrolimus Ointment available in Thailand? Apparently this worked for another guy who got the same issue from his Covid infection. https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-20330/tacrolimus-topical/details
  23. Angular cheilitis and eczema/cheilitis of the lips (ie., dry, inflamed, cracking lips and corners of the mouth). Started while I had Covid and didn’t go away even two months later. Tried Bepanthen, lip balm, different steroid cremes and now some anti-fungal creme (all prescribed by dermatologists here). Even changed toothpaste and started taking Vitamin B. Two dentists and an ENT doc looked into my mouth and confirmed no oral thrush. One dentists thought I had an allergic reaction (thus the change of toothpaste). The last dermatologist swabbed my lips and looked at it under the microscope and thought there’s some fungi (and prescribed a week of an anti-fungal Creme which I have almost finished). My lips are covered in Vaseline the whole day pretty much but there’s no significant improvement (once I stop using the Vaseline, within hours I can feel and see it creeping back). I saw online that many people have issues with this and that I can be difficult to get rid of. I saw this creme mentioned as it seems to combine anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and steroid features and thought I’d give it a try.
  24. Thanks. Do you plow if pharmacies (or doctors) in Thailand can mix a customized creme for me? This Alternative you posted doesn’t seem to have the same four active ingredients. Where I’m from it’s common that dermatologists write a prescription which is more a list of ingredients and then you take that to a pharmacy and they will mix that creme for you.
