  1. I work all over SE Asia, and have done for the last 3 years - I would often use my CC in 3 different countries in 3 days. The only problem I have EVER had was after withdrawing money in Malaysia, Borneo side. I was on my boat at work a few days later (in posession of my CC), while someone was racking up, on my card, 15,000 Hong Kong dollars on a shopping spree (thats not as much money as it may sound). When I phoned my bank, they said they had already stopped the card, stating "yes Mr Smith, for the last 2 years, you have used your card only for flights, hotels, duty free booze and vehicle rental. These purchases are jewelery and antiques in rapid succession.....so we stopped it".

I had the money refunded a few days later, and my bank later told me that whoever make the purchases actually signed the ######ing recipts in Chinese!!!!! Can you believe that??? Imagine having the neck to do that with my name written on the card???

Most of the CC fakers work hand in hand with the staff from the stores, there is no doubt of it. This explaines how did your receipe ended up signed in chinese :o . I only use my CC at ATM's, and speaking about ATM's, be careful about this one too, check the ATM first for any suspicious signs, they could get your CC copied easily

  2. I've just heard that in England, smoking was just banned anywhere except home...bars, pubs, clubs, etc...is that a new fashion? What about Amsterdam??? This is incredible, some countries aloow the consume of Marijuana while the others ban smoking in all it's means. This is crazy...

    banned in discos/pubs too!! :o

Yeah, it was on the news, maybe some brits could enlighten us about this matter

  3. I have a JVC GR -D73AG video camera, purchased in BKK in 2004. I cannot use it it as when I switch to record there is a mesage telling me to remove the lens cap, even though it is already removed. I have explored this problem extensively on the net and it appeasrs to be avery common fault that occurs just after the cameras' guarantee periods expire. Apparanetly it is fixable - at a price - JVC refuse to fix them fo free, even though it is a widespread fault! :o

So, anyone know where to fix in Pattaya?

and... Don't buy a JVC video camera - JVC are a bunch of b..st..ds. :D

You should have comment about this a few days ago when I have purchased my JVC video camera, I just realized it's a piece of s**t, so, reformulate, is there a complaint service for JVC cameras in Pattaya?

    :D :D :D

  5. I've only had one encounter with gypsies. That was in Croatia while I was there on a peace-keeping mission back in '92-'93.

Our medics used to make weekly check-ups on a family that was living in a garbage dump (an acutal dump, where everyone else came to drop off their trash).

There was a grandmother, mother and 2 kids.

I was sitting in a restaurant in Daruvar when this guy came in, obviously drunk as a skunk. Nobody would serve him. He pulled out a wad of cash that would choke an elephant. Nobody would serve him.

Why wouldn't they serve him ? He was the husband of that woman living in the dump with his kids and his mother. He obviously had enough cash to to rent, or even buy a house, but instead chose to let his family live in a dump while he went out and partied. Nobody in town wanted anything to do with him (though he was able to find booze often enough).

(ps: This guy and his family were/are gypsies in case you weren't sure)

Normally they use to run all kinds of scams and stuff outside Romania, after that they come backand don't think that with all those money they buy a house or open a current account in a bank to save the money. They use to throw big parties, if enough money buy an expensive car, after that they run out of money and hit again and loose them the same way. Music and booze it's their main objective. Don't really care about the familly, just some foolish nomads.

Mikey, what if gypsies would be weel known as australian thiefs, I had some customers while being home from Ireland, they was expecting to see me as a gypsi, they ame with a bodyguard and they were amazed that we have cars instead of horses, that 95% of the population was caucasian and that you can walk safe on the streets, all hey knew about Romania it was that we are gypsies and that we kill and stole, maybe they haven't made their homework before, but still, I wouldn't come in Australia with a bodyguard based on the stories, this is why i used the word "hate", they are turning Romania (which is a monument of European history and culture) into a chaos, hope you understand me now.

  6. Did any of you in Pattaya look for the bus driver Khun Somkuan ? ... :D

Shouldn't you give the man some bath's for his good work ? :D

:D Or are you all Scottish or Dutch ? ... :D And you don't like to spend some money ?

Give the man a party ! There must be bar-owners on this forum :D. Bunch à @%$#*

As for the dumb American ... That seems to be the regular stupid *sshole.

Thinking that some bar-girls was hìs girl :D.

I feel sorry for him, but he was acting like a stupid sex-tourist.

And when you get careless, they will get you, anywhere on this planet ! Also in Amsterdam ...

Hahaha ... If I'd been there , I'd cut his throat with his own knife. This man was propably 120kg.and had no martial arts experience :D.

    :o

I haven't noticed any posters in the airport providing info for the sextourist, in case you haven't noticed, Thailand on many brochures of the travel agencies is categorized as being an erotic destination, the man was just uninformed, not stupid, probably he didn't thought to merry the girls, I think it was just a 3-4 days relationship before goig back home, I don't see what's so suspicious in walking on the street with a bg, do you?

Man, this could happen to any of us, no matter new comer or veteran in Thailand

  7. The Public Health Ministry is going all out in its effort to stop smoking among Thais with its comprehensive plans ranging from the ban on small packets of cigarettes to declaring pubs and bars smoking free.

In the future, non-smokers may also be able to seek compensation from cigarette companies if they fell ill because of smoking-filled environment.

We have prepared both short-term and long-term measures to curb smoking, Public Health Minister Pinij Charusombat said.

For the short-term measures, Pinij said his ministry was going to ban the small packets of cigarettes or retailing it singles - not the whole pack - before the end of this year.

By 2008, Pinij said his ministry would declare all pubs, bars and entertainment venues to become smoking free. We will push for necessary legislation, he said.

On the long-term measure, he said his ministry would open a legal channel for smoking victims to sue to cigarette companies for their health damages.

    Saturday 11th February 2006.

American Man Fighting for His Life After Late Night Knife Attack on Pattaya Beach.

A shocking case of a violent assault now from Soi 7 which has already made the National Press here in Thailand. Police Major Sirapop from Pattaya Police Station was called to Pattaya Beach Road at the front of Soi 7 in the early hours of Saturday morning to investigate an assault on an American tourist. The man who was rushed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital was identified as Mr. Tony Lindsey aged 44 from America. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to his groin, stomach and right arm. He is now in a critical but stable condition in hospital and is now undergoing emergency surgery. Witnesses mentioned seeing the man walk down Soi 7 towards the beachfront with a female, thought to be a bar girl. A man approached on a motorbike and both the man and the woman began a vicious attack, which took place on the Beach promenade. A baht bus driver Khun Somkuan aged 45 saw the attack and took the badly injured man to hospital. The Thai man and woman fled on their orange coloured Yamaha Mio Motorbike. Police now have two theories regarding the attack. The first relates to the potential of a jealous attack from an ex-boyfriend of the bar girl and the second suggests the couple were working together and attacked the man in order to steal his possessions. The investigation continues.

baht bus driver Khun Somkuan aged 45 saw the attack and took the badly injured man to hospital

And the driver then made a sharp exit with the septics 20 without giving him the 15 baht change.

Yeah, the driver should have take the rest of Tony's personal belongings and take off...the man did a great thing, probably something that more ignorants here wouldn't do, I would be very surprised if he actually got something in exchange for this service, I mean, come on, he actully saved the man's life...and are you still thinking about the baht bus "scam"? Come on...

  9. I am Australian......Got the papers to prove it...and anyway most of the MTD's in that area know me as an Aussie also.... :D:D

Would it work ???....stands more of a chance than anything else unless you have really upset someone. Its hard for someone to hit someone who is smiling at them... :D

It depends on the smile, teeth, gums, rtc. :o)

  10. Joking it's the est solution, getting angry won't do it, none would have helped you, the last time I had a motornike accident with a crazy baht bus driver, I had to pay for everything and I was the only one coming at the police station. The owner of the car that I damaged while avoiding the crazy baht bus, actually showed me the insurance papers telling me that he is not going to use it...I got muted

  11. What a stupid post Alexeth :D

I never liked indians, they are the originals of the gypsys and I hate gypsys, back home they are only trouble makers and a shame...I never meet one that can keep his word, savages...this is typically for gipsys

You are living proof that the quote you use from Einstein as your signature, is absolutely true.

    Agreed Sir Burr :o

I'm not an expert, but didn't the gypsies originate in Eastern Europe? Rumania and the like? A long way from India - the 2nd most populous nation on this planet. Your ignorance and xenophobic tendancies know no bounds. :D Never mind, there's over a billion Indians who one day may make you see the error of your ways. :D

You made the point Mobi, guys, call me racist (I'm not, I have red friends, black friends, yellow friends and I never judged people by their colour, religion or etc.), you are convinced the gypsis are coming from Romania, well, I am romanian and I assure you that the only gypsis are the ones immigrated from India long time ago. Brits could tell you more about the gypsies, they are attacked, scamed and fooled by them oftenly. They invaded all Europe and unfortunately they have romanian passport, further more, the romanians are caucasian and there isn't a single trace or racism and we wellcome all the good intetioned people, we are known for hospitality, but we are also known of thiefs because of the gypsies that are living in Romania for hundreds of years and use romanian passports and citizenship, again gypsies are not romanians, they are immigrants.

I have never meet an honest gypsi, they were the reason my mom came home by taxi when leaving office late.

Again, I am not racist, I am just giving you the facts

Mighty, fly to Romania and give me your second opinion on the gypsies after you will have your wallet stolen with all the papers.

  12. Like I previously said and everybodt got me wrong, it's not just about us, expats who learned the rules, ot's about tham tourist that has no clue about Thailand and get's kicked out of the bar at 1am, ripped by the baht bus driver, gem stone scams and etc...he doesn't know what's really going on. Life in Thailand, Mighty, is a beautiful one, as long as you stick to some rules and understand them deeply.

Hang in there Tony...I wish you a fast recovery
