What a runaround. I feel so sorry for you. They do not apply logic in Thailand. "Jobs worth hat" due.

If people stop buying sugar cane products, that will put a stop to a lot of it. That will also result in a healthier population.
The government is inept and the cause of many respiratory illnesses in children and adults. The government should be sued for the cost to the public for the health costs as they have the power to stop the burning but do not have the political will. A tariff on sugar which is in itself is a known health hazard would be an option. Of course the proceesds to be used to compensste farmers and enforce the law not to be pocketed by the corrupt officials in government.

A campaign on TV and social media to reiterate how to drive on roads and motorways would go a long way toward reducing accidents. Like driving in the left hand lane and overtaking only on other lanes. Too many people having to overtake on the left hand lane which causes accidents and puts tge person overtaking in the wrong. Most drivers think that they are in the right to stag in the right hand overtaking lane as they are doing the max speed of the road which in itself causes frustration and anger in other drivers. The spped limit should be increased in roads with 3 or more lanes and drivers monitored not for speed but for applying good or bad driving skills.

i.e. none of them as no agents would lend on the basis originally suggested by Sumarianson.
Just look online to satisfy yourself and call a few numbers as others have you will soon inform yourself as to whether what I say is true or not. I know what I am talking about. However, it is not my place to supply you or anyone else with agent names. Before accusing do a little of your own investigation. This problem is not resolved by these new measures but has affected severely, honest people like myself who are doing our best to comply with more and more draconian measures by the IO.

It is simple. If you show them your expenditure over the year, if it is legitimate and it looks as though you can afford to live here, that would be sufficient. Instead all this bull. It is extortion. A genuine retiree has to transfer 1.2MB now so that they have 800K for 5 months and the money to live on for that time also. The government has burdened the mojority of honest retirees while agents are rubbing their hands with the interest they sre making on the loan of 800K for 5 months and 400K for 9 months. This policy has not stopped the gangsters but it is costing genuine x pats some with families and wives here in Thailand to support a fortune. That is why the genuine ones are leaving, not the criminals.

So using an agent to falsely declare that you have enough funds to meet the criteria, even though you don't, is quite acceptable. Or immigration officials telling you that they can get you your extension, for a price, is perfectly acceptable. Sorry, refuse to continue with somebody who uses that kind of logic. Bye.
Some things may be illegal but at the same time moral. I think the latter is more important. Whst you have to ask yourself is, is this what the Thai people want their officials doing? If that is so then I would think very little of Thai people. However, I believe that most Thai people are moral, intelligent and see a corrupt system that benifits a few in high places while most of the population is opressed and denied moral justice.

Which is more dangerous, this man at 83 or a motorcyclist with no lights driving the wrong way up a dual carriageway? Priorities, priorities!

I will be leaving in a year's time. The main problem is the change in the visa rules. Because my money is in the UK the exchange rate has been awful. Along with thatthe Thai IO have made the rules in such a way that because you cannot touch any part of the 800K for 5 months, it means having to transfer another 400K to live on. That equates to 1.2MB That equates to more than £31000 which is way above what a normal individual would earn in the UK a year. It is far too much. The system is rigged so that banks can earn a lot of money from the interest they charge for the money you can't touch and brown envlopes wing their way upward. It is all so crooked. They ousted Shinawatra only to install a regime even more corrupt.
They are tearing families apart and making Thai people more poor into the bargain. It is true that socialising now costs more than the west. My wife was astonished at the low prices in supermarkets in the UK last year and the high earnings of residents.
Thailand can no longer be seen as the country of smiles but a country bent on runaway greed promoted by a corrupt government and the oligarchs.

Ring the IO and ask. Simple.

You are better off and safer using an FX broker to exchange and open an account in Dong in Vietnam to transfer it in to. The other option is ring Superrich who can arrange an exchange at your home or in privacy in their offices as it is a large amount.

Be careful to check the limits on currencies you can take from one country to another, there are limits. You cannot take 100K in Thai Baht out of the country legally. Foreign currencies like the Dollar are ok in most countries.

Did this two years ago and Joe is correct. It is much easier than faffing about with pictures all over the place, paperwork and taking your partner and child to the IO for inspection. The IO are happier too as it is less paperwork for them. Only problem is you need to transfer more than 800K now to survive 5 months where you cannot touch your money that you supposedly transferred to use as living expenses. All so they can stop agents putting the money in the bank for clients? I would have thought that the agents can still put the money in. Only now they make more on interest because of the longer time the money is in the bank.
Agents must be deliriously happy with the new rules that brown envelopes are winging their way ever higher. Good luck with the application, should be a breeze.

The new log on rules may cause some issues as you will now have to use your card reader and you will have to supply a telephone number for them to text a code similar to the Thai system. However the system may not accept a phone number from outside the UK.

With the 800K in the bank for 5 months without touching it and only 400K withdrawal thereafter. It means that I have to transfer over 400K more to survive for those months. Because of the bad exchange rate between UK and Thailand it means transferring over £30,000 which I will not afford. I have insted cut back severely on my spending on myself my wife and child.
I am also planning to move home as the red tape has got too much just like it was for the Imm O for family visa was. The Thai government does not care about tearing families apart as long as their brown envelope's arrive ok from the institutions and individuals that profit from the corrupt policies of the government. They are more corrupt than the individuals they deposed.

Once you get beyond 60 the insurance only want you at a high premium, normall not affordable by the average Joe.
-
Obviously no maintenance or checks carried out. Insurance should pay out but the insurance companies should look for a registered insured engineers certificate of safety every 3 to 6 months depending on usage.

If they are serious why don't they close down the biggest syndicated professional gang in Thailand?
THE GOVERNMENT LOTTO!!!!
One rule for them and rediculous rules for us. Up to people how they want to spend their time and money, they earned it!

If that's your reason for not stepping up and spending time with and supporting your child, you won't get a whole lot of sympathy. There are other visa options for foreigners supporting a Thai child. Of course, that requires jumping through some other hoops, which most guys gladly do to spend time with their kid.
Nice judgement. You don't know anything about my situation so do not presume.

No accessing without being sold the information.

Take my advice, stay away from driving. I bought a new car last year and I am selling it now for 300000 less. The speed limit on Thai roads is 50MPH, absolutely rediculous. If you are used to UK or US roads be prepared to pay the 500 baht fines near every time you drive.

That puts me off getting an Ed visa which I was intending to get to learn Thai as I have a child and partner here. I am planning to leave now instead. Don't want a grilling from a country I contribute to substantially. Who wants to learn the language of a country that behaves in such a manner.

Lopburi gold shop suspect: He's a former cop's son who says he did it for the thrill

Should be simple to get him to show where he dumped the gold as it sinks and should still be there unless he dumped it in front of witnesses? Ballistics should be able to match the bullets shot with his fathers gun. For someone to needlessly shoot a child and a couple of more innocents while comitting a robbery where they don't need the money, they would have to be mentally disturbed. The BMW would fetch more than the robbery did? 3 innocents dead for a mere 500,000 Baht. RIP, and may their family's find peace and justice.
