I used to drive fast here when there was no traffic on the road but now keep under the limit as Thai drivers a unpredictable.

Recently I was nearly killed walking fast across a zebra crossing. It was a small crossing really close to my kids school. Actually a car on the left side was trying to turn right and I walked fast across the zebra crossing behind that car. Suddenly a pickup truck was speeding very fast and I nearly accidentally walked in front of it. It could have been a school kid killed. The idiot was driving so fast.

I just read on the news re a Brit who was hit by a motorcycle on the road in Pats.

This can happen to any of us. Its very important to be careful walking on the roads in Thailand.

Happy new yr to you all.

How can you make such outrageous claims?

It's universally agreed among both tourists and expats here that the roads are as safe as the nurseries in the Kingdom, especially in family-friendly Pattaya.

Seriously though, thanks. You made me chuckle.

In other breaking news, the sun will go down tonight but come back tomorrow morning. During this crucial time driving without lights make the roads slightly more dangerous.

I've done my immigration business for the last 11 years myself.

I am on my fourth Non-O Visa with a 1 year extension of stay. Three times before in Chonburi (first time in 2012) and this last time in Bangkok done at Chang Wattana Division 1 completed yesterday.

Why do others do immigration business themselves? I do it because I don't want to be involved in graft, be attached to an agent and pay a lot of extra money for what amounts to about $100 an hour for my time if I paid an agent.

Why do you do your immigration business yourself?

I do it for exactly the same reasons you do. Cost has nothing to do with my choice. At Huahin (not Bluport) it's a fast process anyway if the papers are all in order; just follow the checklist and apply. No sweat.

Ah yes RocketDog that is more plausable.     Methane is an odorless, colorless, flammable gas.   and its density is about half that of air and had there been a vent it might not have been there in the tank, so it had been leaking into the kitched for yonks just waiting for someone to braze over that gap. What bad luck. . .  (The flammability limit of the gas is a concentration in air from 5 to 15%.)          So the householders actually may never have smelt H2S, and the fridge technician may have only smelt and blamed  H2S after the disruptive explosion but the real culprit could have been CH4 methane.

Indeed, it's commonly called 'sewer gas' or 'swamp gas' and in mines 'firedamp'.

In the 1800's it was used for streetlamps powered by sewer tanks under the streets. Needless to say there were frequent explosions.

Of course we've all heard about cow farts and as youngsters we lit our own  farts with a lighter (yes, it did singe our asses). Gross I know, but we did it gleefully. All the uses of Methane!

Butane and propane are close cousins having two or three carbon atoms respectfully, bonded to hydrogen; Much less volatile than Methane.

0 is equivalent to 1, is it?

And you're dishing out network policy advice???

It's a way of talking about the need for redundancy.

    The whole saying is:

Two is one and one is none.

It's a common meme in critical application technology.

Happens to us now and then, Mrs. Morch in the habit of taking her time before heading for the car to examine the bill. Never takes advantage. Me - most chances same, especially if there were no issues with the service/product. My thinking is that I can afford it, and the cashier might get punished, fined, scolded or whatever.

My Thai Lady scans the receipts before we leave Makro too.

I respect her for that and don't complain.

BUT... occasionally we spend 15 minutes correcting a 3 baht error.

I just can't be concerned about a few baht either way. Life is too short.

You should be able to cut and paste from the PDF file to google translate box, I believe.

Only if the scan is put through OCR first to change from an image to recognizable text.

Like Adobe and other PDF editors there is an OCR option that you can choose to use with Thai language.

OP : If you want to PM me and I can probably process it for you. Handwritten Thai may not process well though.

    You are renting the property.

    You are house master.

    Do TM-30 yourself.

    No need to involve landlord.

    Thank you.

When these threads come up I always post the same as you. I figured it out years ago from a post by the late, great @UbonJoe.

Then I did it myself several times when renting a house. Never had any pushback from the IO.

The second half of the TM30 is filled by the 'Possesor' of the property. For rentals that is the renter themselves.

For some reason this simple answer just keeps being forgotten.

I don't know how to thank you.  Because it takes 4 to 8 weeks to get a renewal processed. You are right about immediately.

In USA they are very picky about the photo paper used to print the photos.  There is a photo copy office behind Chiang Mai immigration office, can I get my USA passport photos 2×2 inch size printed by them.  Last question, I read on this forum posts from last year that the immigration office will match the validity of the retirement Visa extension with the expiration date on the passport. Thanks 🙏

Yes, they do check, or should do, so this should not happen.

Renewing your USA passport in Thailand is much faster than doing it in USA.

I did mine last year. It took 8 days for the new one to arrive at my house by post.

Remember to update the new passport with your banks and other relevant entities.

In any 7-Eleven I've ever been in (in Bangkok at least) they always say out loud what note you have given them. If I have handed over a thousand they will say, in Thai, "you've given me one thousand" and then count the change back, every single time.

I have to say 7-Eleven staff are amongst the best trained in Thailand and I have never once been scammed in 28 years, in fact quite the opposite; when I have accidentally given too much they point it out and hand back the extra.

Not saying there isn't a rogue 7-Eleven cashier somewhere but it doesn't gel with my experience, their training, or the fact that all cashier areas are covered by CCTV so there is zero chance of them getting away with it if you ask to see the CCTV.

    My experience too.

I advise learning the Thai number system and announcing the amount you are giving them BEFORE you hand it over. Look them in the eye when telling them.

So they know that you know, and anybody else standing around knows, what you have given them.

Fair warning is what you have actually given them.

In addition to any sites, even your search engine is capable of watching your activity and then selling your name & address to legit and illegitimate businesses.

    Exactly correct.

    As you probably already do:

Use an engine that doesn't track you and call home.

    DuckDuckGo for instance.

Get a new browser too, one focused on privacy. Brave, Ghostery, etc. Chrome is a data omnivore.

Divorce Google. completely. The Gmail EULA clearly states that Google may and does read every word of your mail.

I won't do more than mention social media; I think everybody knows where they're at by now.

It is simply inane to see somebody walking outside in an area that's uncrowded with a mask on, it feels like an atmosphere of the zombie apocalypse, and it does create a sense of fear and dread in the population.

It's just not necessary at this point unless it is within a hospital or used for pollution. And I happen to enjoy warm coats in the winter time.

No, "It is simply inane to watch somebody walking outside in an area.......... "

Too much time on your hands lately?

To be clear, it  creates a sense of fear and dread in you. Please do not take it upon yourself to describe the thoughts of the general Thai population.

You are simply projecting your own concerns onto a population that you are not culturally part of.

You were in such a hurry to publish your own bias against masks that you drafted the rest of the country into your imaginary army.

I like coats in cold weather too, as do most people.

Read my comment again to see that you are jousting at a windmill.

I generally like your comments on these forums, but you've got pooh on your shoes this time.

Whether a complete stranger or anybody else for that matter wears a mask does not affect me in anyway, Its entirely up to them, I just remain skeptical of how much protection they actually provide.  For the umpteenth time I wore mine as instructed, how does that make me an antimasker?     Is it just because i was not scared enough to berate those who's beliefs were different to mine?

I was not replying to your post. Relax.

When I paid an order in advance on Lazada and the order was canceled by the seller, I got the refund to the wallet and, like you, to this day I haven't been able to withdraw it. Stopped using Lazada because of that. Use Shopee a lot now and pay in advance and not had any problems at all.

Don't withdraw it. Use it in checkout to pay for items. Done it many times myself.

I order quite often from Lazada, in fact awaiting three small items at the moment, nothing worth more than 130 Baht. Courier just turned up and said has a parcel for 280 baht, but I have ordered nothing of that amount. Against my better judgement I paid the courier and opened the box and found a grubby used nylon jacket, worth maybe 20 baht. I don't know where these scammers get my name and address, but lesson learned and they won't catch me again.

I take a screenshot and print the order including vendor name, order number, delivery date, cost, etc for every item I order.

When the delivery guy comes I check against the order. Annoying but effective.

    I always order COD.

No order match, no acceptance of delivery.

Well, thanks for returning to offer those great insights.

Hardly an insight. Everybody on the forums knows such posters.

They also know who they are. That's why they are sensitive to such 'insight' being put in writing.
