  1. Why wait? Just show us the evidence and prosecute him now.
  2. " immigrants are only good for cleaning toilets"? Those are your words, not mine. If you read my post I specifically mentioned roofers, carpenters and electricians, and indicated the list goes on. Those are good paying skilled jobs. Let those who don't want to pay a wage to attract US workers go broke? That would include almost every fruit and vegetable farmer in the US. If these farmers provided the pay and benefits required to get young people to travel from cities to the country to do hard stoop labor they would have to raise their prices so high US consumers would buy imported fruits and vegetable. How is the public subsidizing illegal immigrants? They pay more in taxes than they receive in benefits. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/making-sense/4-myths-about-how-immigrants-affect-the-u-s-economy Allowing in more immigrants at all skill levels who earn and spend will grow the economy, increase the tax take, alleviate the cost of paying Social Security, solve America's demographic problem, and offer many more benefits. Your cliched rant does is not supported by facts or logic. If you want to continue the discussion we should do it here: https://aseannow.com/topic/1307341-employers-lose-migrant-workers-fleeing-florida’s-draconian-law/
  3. That's your "unique" (imaginary?) definition. It's not the accepted definition.
  4. The precedent of a peaceful transition was destroyed by Trump's MAGA rioters, Trump's continued refusal to admit that he lost, and the MAGA faithful's idiotic belief that Trump won.
  5. Yeah, things are simple if you don't think about them. Your "analysis" does not take into account that seasonal farm labor is no longer done by young Americans because they largely live in cities, there are service industries (such as car washes) that would be put out of business by paying the wages Americans would demand, that Americans tend to avoid careers in boom and bust industries such as construction, etc. Immigrants are happy to come to the country for seasonal farm labor or to do minimum wage jobs Americans don't want, and Florida and other places are desperate for roofers, carpenters, electricians, general laborers, etc. to rebuild after hurricanes.
  6. You don't think 7% inflation in 2021 is significant? It's the highest in many years. https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/
  7. Trump sees a dysfunctional government as being in his favor, not least because a shutdown would delay his court dates.
  8. The threat continues so long as the Republican party is the party of Trump.
  9. Off topic, but I'll point out: In 2021 Americans received $1400 stimulus checks. When that figure is excluded from the 2021 household income the drop is trivial. 2021 was also the year of high inflation caused by supply chain disruptions. Wage increases always lag sudden surges in inflation. I expect things will show significant improvement for 2022 and 2023.
  10. A fine conspiracy theory post. From your link: "The CIA and FBI were found to have edited numerous articles, removing incriminating information, Huffington Post reported in 2008." "For instance, the CIA used its computers to remove casualty counts from the Iraq War, while the FBI removed images of Guantanamo Bay and edited articles on various subjects." Funny that it doesn't give any examples post-2008, and that the examples given are hardly earth-shattering revelations. I wonder how many individuals and businesses attempt to remove embarrassing information from Wikipedia.
  11. Why don't you give us this generally accepted alternate definition of woke?
  12. Unless you have the resources to research important news yourself, you either believe in fact checkers or you disappear down a rabbit hole of lies, fantasies and conspiracies.
  13. Perhaps the most importing rule for a successful dictator is to control the press, either through intimidation, regulation, or having allies buy every news outlet in the country (what has been done in Russia and Hungary). Trump's trying for intimidation, but will happily use regulation if given the chance.
  14. Would you care to offer your infallible news sources? I didn't think so.
  15. I find it interesting that the people who want to impeach President Biden for the situation at the border with Mexico have nothing to say about this topic. It's not surprising, the article identifies the hypocrisy of the anti-immigrant crowd, but interesting and informative.
  16. ASEAN Now needs a "fingers crossed" icon for posts like this. Also a WTF icon. What was the fool tweeting (X-ing?) about?
  17. Russia has clearly demonstrated that the threat to the west didn't go away with the dissolution of the USSR, which Putin wants to recreate. Europe's most cost-effective means of defending itself is to acquire lots of nukes. Apparently you don't see nuclear proliferation as a big. Better informed people think otherwise.
  18. Thank you for the Russia Today talking points. Who started the war is definitely relevant in naming the warmonger. The west now includes NATO countries that share a border with Russia and were formerly part of the USSR, and Putin has made it clear that he wants to restore the Russian Empire as it existed in the USSR. There is no "Not One Inch" treaty agreement. You should school yourself. No idea what you're talking about.
  19. "Putin never wanted Kiev, Karkiv, or Kherson." Putin sacrificed too many of his best men and equipment for the attack on Kiev to be a scare tactic. He mistakenly thought he would win a quick and easy victory. He was wrong. NATO troops aren't necessary. The Ukrainians are fighting for their home and country, the Russians are fighting because they are told to. All Ukraine has to do is survive and put constant pressure on the Russian invaders. All the west has to do is provide the resources for Ukraine to do this.
  20. You're correct. Now let's see if he actually does it. I suspect not. The bill would pass, but with a majority of Democrat votes in the House, which the Republicans would hate and which would cost McCarthy his job.
  21. People who know that America never stopped being great and who see Trump's policies as a threat to that greatness.
  22. "If the USA has a population problem, wouldn't it make more sense to open up and let in a lot more college educated and/or highly skilled people, even if we had to pay the $750 airfare to get them in?" Yes! Yes! Yes! It would make perfect sense! You know what would make even more perfect sense? To greatly expand immigration for all skill levels! The best, brightest, most ambitious and hardest working people all over the world want to come to the US to work. That would not only grow our economy, increase our tax base and alleviate retirement funding problems, it would remove the incentive to come to the country illegally. Why enter illegally if one can do so legally? We have an incredible opportunity and we are wasting it. It used to be the Democrats who resisted increasing legal immigration, but the Republicans have taken the lead and made the subject so toxic that no party or candidate is calling for it. The OP is making it clear that the people crying "Oh my god, immigrants!" want those immigrants available when there is work to be done. It's insane. Can I assume you are not one of those paranoid types panicking about "diluting" American culture with brown people from "sh*thole countries"? Because there are a lot of them, and the most passionate ones seem to be MAGA people.
