Is he able to vacate to a nearby country on his own and arrange a visa with all the procedures involved? It's not the easiest thing to do flying into Cambodia or Vietnam, getting a hotel, and finding the embassy, especially if your not young and agile.
It sounds like he's a little jittery.
not sure about this
he not far from the Lao border, but its the paperwork to get the non 0 visa that would be the problem, plus finding embassy and hotel
im down south now, so not able to help him, and it seems his Gf and her sisters dont really ant to know
maybe they are hoping he gets kicked out, so they can claim his house and car ?
Hes definitely struggling wit the mental things, he didnt even know he was talking to me on the phone, and ive known him 7 years now
Thanks for everyone help. seems the best way is to go to the friendship bridge/border, pay the fine and then go to the embassy and try and get a non 0 visa

if you come in visa exempt or on tourist visa you first have to convert to a non-O visa (90 days) and THEN apply for a one year extension of stay.
the agents do this in one go so you get 15 months the first time you deal with them. B27K sounds about right for that service.
subsequent extensions should be cheaper, I've been quoted 12.5K in Pattaya.
thanks
its not the annual cost that hurts him its the big cost to get back to a retirement visa

"his visa ran out on the 14th September"
His visa ran out? Which visa, the old retirement extension or the 30-day visa exempt stamp when he last entered?
If he came in without a re-entry permit then he does not have a retirement (visa) extension, he just has the latest visa exempt stamp. He'll have to apply from scratch for a retirement extension and most visa agents will be able to assist with that and with the overstay.
his visa exempt stamp ran out on the 14th. so on overstay
any recommendations for a visa agent that might be cheaper?
hes living in Isaan, but used an agent in Pattaya for many years
does 27,000 baht sound about right to get this retirement visa back, or could it be done cheaper , because living on the old uk pension means money is tight for him
Thanks

OK, maybe the going rate is lower; however, it seems like this is a way out. sorry about your friend. I would just borrow/pay/loan whatever the money and take some stress off. stress at that age must be worth something.
i have to agree with you, i think he has at least half the money, but he hates paying for anything and keeps going on about how he only paid 10.000 before
hes even talking about not paying and living on overstay, saying what can they do to an old man

Hi there
hoping someone can help an old friend of mine with some advice
friend is 77 yeas old, been on retirement visa for many years, using agent
he went to the uk for holiday, but didn't get a re entry permit before leaving , so when he arrived back, he was given a 30 day tourist visa
he didn't look to check any stamp till a friend saw his passport. It seems his visa ran out on the 14th September , which puts hi on maximum overstay, at 20,000 baht ?
he now has to pay the fine , maybe get another 30 days visa and then apply for another retirement visa?
he was going to go to the ;local immigration offices and see what they say, but not sure if they will just let him pay and extend visa, or if they will lock him up
he has very little money available , living on his state uk pension, the oid lower rate
any advice would be welcome , for the easiest and cheapest way to remain here
his other option is to do border runs, but at his age its not easy, and hes starting to lose some of his marbles too
thanks

is it a pawn shop or gold shop. seems its not a gold shop tbh.
why they know your address? i bought some serious amount of gold and never been asked my address. 1 shop tried to get my passport copy and i told them no, then in 1 min they said ok no problem.
and.. sorry to ask but why were you selling a gold ring which you bought from the same shop? thats what makes me think its a pawn shop. 7 guys showing up.. never heard such a thing unless its a really really rural area. and even there.. so might be something you are not telling the full story?
they refused to call cops and what did stopped you to calling them? obviously its not your first time using this pawn shop.
didnt they give you any paper work when buying the gold and selling it? after that no one can do anything.. done is done. im so surprised they didnt come with cops.
i would stay at home for a few days and observe around.. safety first bro.
good luck
Gf has put post on FB showing these men
you want me to post on here ? is it safe to do so ?
i videoed it all, but didn't put that on FB in case it caused trouble for me being a falang
not rural area, the main town on the island
not sure what it is, pawn or gold, just going by what she called a gold shop. I have never been there so no idea
saw a photo on guys phone showing GF on camera outside shop, so not sure if that's how they found her , she was wearing the shirt with our bar logo on it . But she sold this almost a month ago, seems the only find it fake when they melt it down
As far as i know this was the 2nd time using this shop, once to buy, once to sell the same item
we both kept telling him we had the receipt with the gold weight and item on it showing the sale, which to me meant anything after that is their fault , not ours. They check and weigh before buying i assume ?

Could be a scam shop. Whats the location?
It in Thon Sala, Koh Phangan, near food market
but seems to be sorted now, the wife has just rung up and apologized
makes me even more certain they sold my GF fake gold

Who knows, stay away from dodgy shops. The ones in shopping centres are legit. Some of the ones outside are dodgy.
Thanks
seems a big shop but like you say, who knows
but seems odd they suddenly backed down when we mentioned bringing the police to the shop
-
Hi there
not sure if its in the right place but please move if not
When selling gold to a gold shop, they weigh the gold, inspect it, and then issue a ticket receipt showing the weight of the gold
I'm guessing hey also check the quality of this gold too ?
Just had a mob of guys turn up at our house about 7 of them, one of whom is the gold shop owner
They kept trying to hide from me videoing them for some reason
they now claim the gold my GF sold is fake
its the same ring that she bought from the same shop
they wouldn't call the police when we asked them to, and after a lot of arguing they finally took her phone number and left
PS
just got a call from shop wife saying its now real gold !!
Wonder if this is because they suddenly realised they sold her a fake gold ring before ?
Strange !!

Ha d to drop off a letter at the post office on Friday, nipped down on the bike
Walked in with my helmet on, got a nasty look and told to take my helmet off
Ok, no worries, took off my helmet, then told to put a mask on
so i must show my face by not wearing aa helmet, open vizor, but must put a mask on that covers most of my face

Sorry, I thought that I had, when I stated I that I called to do my 1st report in person
but is it correct that I should return to the immigration office that issued my annual visa ?
Thanks
Maybe I’m missing something, but having been in Thailand for 7 years now, with a NOn o retirement visa every year, with 90 day reports , with re entry permits, how can they not have records of me being here ?
and surely it makes no difference if it’s done online as against in person, it’s still recorded somewhere
-
11 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:
You did not mention you had never done a 90 day report.
The reason the first report cannot be done online is that immigration has no record of you doing a 90 day report before.
Sorry, I thought that I had, when I stated I that I called to do my 1st report in person

Have you moved permanently to Koh Phangan?
If not then your best option is to your 90 day report online. You can apply/register to do a 90 using it.
Thanks but isn’t the first one to be done in person, then the others online ?
have done online before, but it never allows me to use online until after the first one is reported in person
-
Hi there, just a couple of questions about change of address and 90 day report in person
called to do the first 90 report in person as required
guy that issues tickets, looked at my passport and told me I cannot do my 90 day there, I must drive back to Pattaya to do it, as that is where I got my retirement visa from
is this correct ?
I’ve done my 90 days in a different province before while travelling
TM30, change of address
I then asked if I could do a Tm 30 change of address from Pattaya to Koh Phangan
tried to show him copies of the landlords house book, I d card and rental agreement
he refused to look at them and just said NO
when I asked why he started tapping at a paper I have never seen before
after refusing to tell me what or why, I got told by French man that I must put an app on my phone, find this paper, print it off and then come back with it
when I then asked immigration if that is every thinking , he said no, I need landlord
i told him he cannot travel, and that I have the relevant paperwork, ut when I offered it to him he frufused to look , threw them back at me and told me to leave
my question is
what is this paper that they want, which I have never seen or needed in any other offices ?
and why would I need to have the landlord there when I have the correct papers .?
thanks for any help
PS. I gave up , caught the boat back after a wasted day and decided to post to an agent instead

Hi thereI’m needing some furniture for house I’m renting and also a bar
is there anywhere on Koh Phangan that sell these sort of things, tables, chairs, stools, etc,
desk, office chair, and assorted other things
if not there, is there somewhere on Koh Samui ?
i know I can buy new, but prefer to save money,
Any help would be much appreciated

Really! You mean to tell me you can't read? I suggest you check out multiple media sources. Being ignorant of the facts or attempting to negate them, doesn't change the reality that it is happening. You also are being narrow minded if you dont realize how much other sickness and issues are hindereding people from getting in to medical facilities therefore indirectly also causing people to die.
so just your opinion then, no facts to back up ?
If its happening, please show all us ignorant and illiterate people , so we can see for ourselves, how many are dying from this Omicron virus
if the government stopped putting healthy people in the hospitals and let them isolate at home, there would be no problem for people to access medical care
My lady is isolating at hospital, perfectly healthy, but has been tested positive, but not allowed to come home and isolate with me . so who is causing this so called problem ?

Are the 5 million dead part of the scam?
5 million have died fromOmicron ??
or 5 million have died WITH covid ?
how many have died in Thailand from Omicron ??
Nobody has died so far in Nakhon Phanom from Omicron, but they keep shoving them into hospital rooms instead of letting them self isolate
My lady is moving from the hospital to home, joining me in isolation, because they say they have need for more rooms, which they are now putting extra patients in what was a single room

unfortunately i think he is
and the bad thing is im down on Koh Phangan, while he is up north east in Nakhon Phanom, so not easy
im going though another guy in the next village, who has no clue about visas, because my old mate cant use the internet, hardly uses his simple phone and cant use messaging or e mail much either
