What a great report.
Any cough or feelings of lack of Oxygen?
Time to binge on Netflix.
Sounds like you're doing great.
not now, but had a bit of a cough and sore throat for the first few day, plus a runny nose forst thing in the morning
no problem with breathing or oxygen
now, im feeling perfectly fine, but they insist i have to stay till the 12th
my missus is in hospital with it too, she only had one vaccination, so shes got it a bit worse than me, but still not bad, just more of a cough thats lasting longer
she chose to isolate in hospital, but the check up and service cannot be faulted from the staff,

If I get it I want to weather it out at home.
These hospitals are extraordinary expensive for many foreigners to stay even a few nights.
I stated weeks ago being charged 10,000 baht for 3 disposable (paper) haz mat suits. My son spent one night at a private hospital. 48,000 baht. Tons of needless tests.
I was floored.
i tested positive after travelling round Bangkok
refused to take a test unless they allowed me to isolate at my own home, not in the hospital
Took a while and a lot of arguing with them, but they eventually agreed
So now on day 3 of my 12 day quarantine in my home, with delivery of lots of tablet, blood pressure monitor, oxygen tester, and temperature thermometer thingy. Twice a day i take the pills, test my levels, photo the results and send them to the hospital doctor
The Omicron , for me, is so mild, i just thought it was a cold, but with a sore throat, it wasnt till a friend told me she tested positive in the bar that i went to get checked out
Been about 6 days now since i got it, and feeling perfectly fine now, so seems a massive over reaction for something so minor for the majority of people
Yes, i have both vaccinations, but no booster

Any beers sold in restaurants or bars or hotels ?
Just want a nice lazy time on my own, but would be nice if i could have a beer on an evening if possible, but not 7-11

Not the same thing. Interacting with other kids at home is voluntary, where going to school if they open and interacting there is not.
Someone does, that's why there are limits on the number of gatherings that opening schools would violate.
No not open up the world, open up to the vaccinated world.
If all school kids and teachers were vaccinated, I would agree, if we can allow vaccinated tourists to come, we can allowed school to open ,
But all kids are not vaccinated, and we still have the problem of large gatherings.
If we want the same for school kids as we do for tourists then the same restrictions should apply , and large gatherings are not allowed for tourists
why the need to vaccinate young children ?
What age do we vaccinate them, from birth 5 years, ?
if children have so few sufferers from covid, why the rush to jab then
if they are jabbed, they can still pass it on to family ?
why not leave the children and concentrate on adults
and if its so important to get vaccinated, why do they keep refusing vaccines to the villagers, like many have been here, who when apply, told No have, come back later
Even getting the jab is hard, which could be 20k away from the village in some small clinic or school ,but then they have to travel 45 k to town, to the main hospital to get the papers to prove it. Not easy for old folk who have only a small Honda wave to get about, if lucky

just found out a few hours ago that our local school will not be opening
Even the caretaker did not know this , was still cutting grass and cleaning up ready to open
why the problems with giving out information at reasonable notice
Has parents copying papers ready for opening this morning
seems lots of the teachers have not been vaccinated, WHY ? they have had since April to do so
Nobody seems to bother that the children all congregate in the village, play football, etc, so why not allow them to go back to school and actually start learning something ?

No such things as an International Licence.
For most Nations (the UK for sure) an International Driving licence can only be obtained in that country.
Do you not have a Driving Licence from your home country ?
Unfortunately, Covid-19 has created issues. But, private companies ‘refusing to allow farangs’ seems odd. something lost in translation?, or just shop around to find a company that will accept foreigners, perhaps show proof of vaccination etc - its strange that private companies are refusing money.
yes, i have 2 UK and 2 Thai licenses
but im not asking for me
so you say you could never purchase international licences in Bangkok ?
In Bangkok, used to get 10 year ones, and police never bothered or noticed the incorrect length of it
Legal ones no, but then like so many things in Thailand, it may, or may not be legal
-
anyone know if is still possible to get an international licence around the Khoasan road area ?
All main driving centres are closed for new driving tests, and the private companies are refusing to allow farangs to learn/take test , only thais

I thought all an international driving license does is verify you have a proper driving license from your home country......it has nothing to do with actually being able to drive??
probably not, but most police dont know anything about foreign or international licences, so just look and say ok, go
but can, or could be bought cheaply on Khoasan road for a few thousand

guy has no existing uk licence , has been driving on a 10 year international one that he bought many years ago, but has now lost

on a UK car licence, we can ride small mopeds, but nothing bigger
I took my car licence in to DLT and showed them the picture of the motorbike and said, have bike licence , need Thai one
Had to repeat it many time but
After a lot of talking and looking, they gave me a new Thai bike licence without any testing or other problems, Been riding bikes here for years now, no problems with renewals

Just do their obligation to their country. As a vet, I find you people who prefer to dump their country's defense onto 'someone else' to be morally bankrupt. You want the benefits without paying the costs.
as a vet, i'm sure you had lots of times dumped on someone else. Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc, etc
Im sure the locals felt the benefits of your wars

So all the smug ones who thought they would be in a better position with say 2 pzifers or 2 moderna's are not. The UK doesn't take Thailand seriously as a nation (unless they want some rice) so we're all in the same boat as far as any expat wanting to go to the UK. Suck on that.
why the silly post ?
Any person wishing to go to the UK with a double dose of vaccine can do so, but will entail a nice holiday stopover in a choice of countries
So why the remark about smug people , unless your one of the " smart" ones who jumped at the chance for the chinese rubbish ?

good idea,
are you going to go round the shops, villages telling the Thais that?
Does this also include banning the bike/sidecars, tractors, trailers, kids on bikes, illegal vehicles, etc, etc ?
while i might agree they are not good for main roads, they are perfectly suited to village and school runabouts

Is it OK by you to drive without the necessary insurance & licence?
yup, just like the many thousands of thais do
but perhaps you could tell us where they can get this insurance on a non road legal vehicle

And would the insurance company, if you have it, pay for any damage to my car if she ran into it, or ran someone over who could not hear it coming please?
What are you confused with kwonitoy?
why would they need insurance
just be like Thais, no insurance, tax or licence, but no problems
Been hit twice by idiots in the village without insurance. Both times they have paid for repairs

Private rooms in our state hospital cost Thais around 800 baht a night
I was told same price but then actually charged over 1600 Baht for private room
When i asked why, was told that is what management has decided the falangs must pay
Checked out the next morning !

but try for extending visas...other handouts
Just curious
Why would using the NHS effect their visas?
Hospitals do not ask for passports, only name and address, so could give almost any name and address and still get free medical

Friend of mine with a business in Phuket said they were not given a choice, if they were going to open, they had to be vaccinated and Sinovac was what was offered only.
I went for my Pfizer jab last week and asked if my missus could have it too
Was told no, not for Thais, they have Sinovac for them !

Confused, and worried.
I have had the 'standard' Thai vaccine of Sinovac + Astra Zeneca, but I see that this 'mixed dose is not accepted by UK as sufficient for non-quarantine entry. ( My understanding of UK entry requirements is vaccine of 2 doses of he same. I am on a list at local private hosp. for thsi Moderna Vaccine, whihc I was hoping would allow me back to UK. Now what?
why not do what my friend is doing, Go get two doses of the free Pfizer vaccine, even though he already has had the 2 Sinovacs
Can travel freely then

so far so good, feel perfectly fine now,
as i said, if nobody had told me, i would have assumed it was just a cold or mild flu and carried on with my life
which is exactly what my two sons appear to have done
