I thought all an international driving license does is verify you have a proper driving license from your home country......it has nothing to do with actually being able to drive??

probably not, but most police dont know anything about foreign or international licences, so just look and say ok, go

but can, or could be bought cheaply on Khoasan road for a few thousand

guy has no existing uk licence , has been driving on a 10 year international one that he bought many years ago, but has now lost

  3. on a UK car licence, we can ride small mopeds, but nothing bigger

I took my car licence in to DLT and showed them the picture of the motorbike and said, have bike licence , need Thai one

Had to repeat it many time but

After a lot of talking and looking, they gave me a new Thai bike licence without any testing or other problems, Been riding bikes here for years now, no problems with renewals

Just do their obligation to their country. As a vet, I find you people who prefer to dump their country's defense onto 'someone else' to be morally bankrupt.  You want the benefits without paying the costs.

as a vet, i'm sure you had lots of times dumped on someone else. Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc, etc

Im sure the locals felt the benefits of your wars

So all the smug ones who thought they  would be in a better position with say 2 pzifers or 2 moderna's are not. The UK doesn't take Thailand seriously as a nation (unless they want some rice) so we're all in the same boat as far as any expat wanting to go to the UK. Suck on that.

    why the silly post ?

Any person wishing to go to the UK with a double dose of vaccine can do so, but will entail a nice holiday stopover in a choice of countries

So why the remark about smug people , unless your one of the " smart" ones who jumped at the chance for the chinese rubbish ?

And would the insurance company, if you have it, pay for any damage to my car if she ran into it, or ran someone over who could not hear it coming please?

What are you confused with kwonitoy?

    why would they need insurance

just be like Thais, no insurance, tax or licence, but no problems

Been hit twice by idiots in the village without insurance. Both times they have paid for repairs

    Confused, and worried.

I have had the 'standard' Thai vaccine of Sinovac + Astra Zeneca, but I see that this 'mixed dose is not accepted by UK as sufficient for non-quarantine entry. ( My understanding of UK entry requirements is  vaccine of 2 doses of he same.  I am on a list at local private hosp. for thsi Moderna Vaccine, whihc I was hoping would allow me back to UK.  Now what?

why not do what my friend is doing, Go get two doses of the free Pfizer vaccine, even though he already has had the 2 Sinovacs

    Can travel freely then

If you can drive Udon Thani is offering Pfeizer

    Khon kaen  Bangkok Hospital also.

    I got mine yesterday.

Despite the 4 hour drive its worth it.

Stayed two nights at the Avani and made it a mini holiday.

I don't agree with the mix and match strategy also.

    My wife won't touch Sinovac.

    Thanks  Mr J2U Much appreciated

got to go to Udon next week

Is there somewhere i can walk in, or do i have to book ahead

What would i need to take, Passport?

And is it free , or if not, what cost ?

will they allow me to have the injection even if from another province ?

    Thanks again

Yes it is true. Vaccines administered in Thailand are not approved in the UK so a returning UK resident would have to hotel quarantine and of course a Thai national would not be admitted.

but this only applies if you fly direct to UK ?

if you do a 10 day stopover in an acceptable country, then there is no need to quarantine ?

And some  other countries accept the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines , some with double dose, some with single dose ?

It isn't a question of getting "a U.K approved vaccine", but of being vaccinated under an "approved programme":

"You must have been fully vaccinated under one of the following programmes:

    - UK vaccination programme, approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)

    - UK vaccine programme overseas, approved by the MHRA

    - an approved vaccination programme in Europe or the USA – not all are recognised in England"

If you are traveling from an amber country but were inoculated in Thailand, you currently aren't considered "fully vaccinated", even if you received a double dose of Pfizer or of Europe-produced AZ, and you are required to isolate at home for ten days.

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-quarantine-when-you-arrive-in-england

what if you stopover for 10 day holiday on the way to the UK ?

And not have any vaccinations ?

    no quarantine ?

  11. 7 hours ago, Mac Mickmanus said:

I do think that that is incorrect .

Certain vaccines are accepted and other ones are not , it doesnt matter the location of where you had the vaccination done , but even so, its a moot point because vaccinations are not required for Brits when entering the U.K

vaccinations not required, but if not vaccinated, then 14 days quarantine, at around 100,000 baht ?

Thailand has one of the highest proportions of police to citizens - but they seem to be more interested 'side hustles'.  All it takes is to place working speed cameras on the roads.  They would pay for themselves in two days the way most Thai's drive!

does anyone pay these speeding tickets ? Think i have paid one about 6 years ago, never paid one since

Yes no vaccination administered in Thailand is acceptable to the UK government.

Just checked site that says 2 doses of the same vaccine, Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca or Janssen are acceptable, but not mixed vaccines

But trying to find out if the vaccines in Thailand have been approved by the European Medicines Agency

Can travel to the Canary Islands with only one dose of vaccine, most other countries want 2 doses, plus testing
