Yes, I saw that thread too.

What I never knew was how to pay utility bills at Big C?

Do you pay at the normal groceries checkout, or is there another counter - still part of Big C, or is it perhaps a separate company?

I was in Big C (Big Care) yesterday and had my lecky bill with me fully intending to pay it. But!! I had a little kerfuffle at the check-out, and clean forgot about it. On the way out I remembered about the bill but didn't want to return, so I paid in the nearby 7-11, which I didn't mind as my favourite check-out girl was there and served me with a smile.

Next month, if I remember, I'll ask at the check-out.

    Just normal footy banter!

Why not!? I like Enfield Town and Leyton Orient. We all have our problems.

  3. Our local little Tesco (16k away) has no bargains at all. No cheap cat food. No cheap cheese. No cheap sun glasses. No nothing on special!! I've been the only one in there at times and often come out without buying anything. Have a pretty check-out lady though. And a decent loo.

Big C (Big Care) on the other hand, has bargains galore, and more than one nice looking lady.

The 7-11s are killing the little Tescos too.

The rain is bouncing off the concrete here at the moment, certainly would stop any game of cricket.

Cannot answer you about any roads clear, my wife gets all the info from local sources, and she is not here.

Two days ago water outside our gate maybe 18 inches, yesterday down to maybe 8/10 inches, this morning back to 18 inches.

Thanks, but I'm personally not travelling anywhere near KhonKaen or Mukdahan, but was concerned that @dsfbrit (post #35) was travelling tomorrow, in dangerous circumstances.

There have been lots of vid's and pic's on the Thai news of big areas, within Isaan, well flooded.

We are a little bit on the high side here, but all the same, if there is big rain, farms will suffer. They have been decimated  already (due to no rain for over a month) and many farmers replanted rice just a month ago. Plus, we have just heard (this morning) that the rice subsidy has been slashed from 1,500 to 500 Baht a rai. Farmers were banking on this to get some dosh back; they are desperate.

The floods have not gone, many roads still impassable.

Anybody thinking of travelling that distance should think again and stay home.

Raining again now, much more to come.

My wife has gone to school this morning, just phoned me she had to turn around twice, and try other roads.

Interesting. But are there not any roads that are clear? Surely they are not all in vallies or low lying areas?!

And all these inclement weather make me think; what  constitutes rain. I think it's raining if it is enough to stop a game of cricket. Any thoughts on this Colin!?

Just started to rain here, at last. 15k south of the Mekong, Nong Khai area.

    Are you serious?

You take it the floods have gone.:cheesy::cheesy:

Raining now, roads still under water, i know i am in the middle of it, stay were you are.

    Stay safe...... Dont travel.

There are other routes Colin. Couldn't he take some back-roads?

I have to admire the long-term posters that put something into the forum and start threads that are a cut above the ‘bashing old fat blokes’; thanks, Marko.

I almost got beaten up by a bloke called Marko, but luckily his girlfriend wouldn’t sleep with me...

Marco has a tradition of starting interesting threads. Often they are concerned with the more humane side of Thailand. Same with Rimmer (mod), with his little stories about Pattaya that have escaped the main news.

It's not all about bashing Thai superstitions or moaning about what a bar girl said is going to make life harder for the farang. I'm bemused with the Trump posts. A thread every time he tweets! Better to spend more time on the less visited threads. Yesterday I visited the crypto and fishing forums.

Carry on the good work Marko and may the force be with you.

Leicester played in a pink away kit at Chelsea. Wonder how that sells.

Didn't the Scottish team play in pink at the world cup finals in South America a while back? I can recall their world cup get together song. One line said; "Rink a dink a dink. Support the boys in pink." Dear, dear dear. And the next line went; "And it's easy, easy."

IMO Utd are still short of one or two good midfield players who can command/control the game from that position and the likes of Perreira are just not going to do it for them, and as for Pogba, still not performing to expectations although he looked a lot better when he was pushed forward.

Felt sorry for Greenwood because he has not been given a real chance to shine or to show his colours and I don't think he ever will by coming on as a substitute a few minutes before the end of time.

In addition, the slow buildup which United still seem to favour allows other teams to pack their penalty areas and defence, making inroads very hard, hence the difficulty United had even when Southampton were down to 10 men.

I can't see United doing much this season unless something drastic happens, and things don't seem to have changed much under OGS with regards to tactics, so not taking bets on his tenure in the future.

I think Pogba is not being used effectively. I would play him deeper. As in Valderrama, Blanchflower (Danny). Zidane, or Mick Hazard (at his best). Pulling the strings. Orchestrating the proceedings in front of him.

One of the best players in the world and he doesn't have any significant role. OGS should read these threads.

Owl, you are obviously older than all or most of us on the footie forum, and i enjoy your comments on times most of us are not aware of. Keep em coming.

Ps. You're probably the only one who can remember Spurs winning something ????

Kind words BB. Thank you. Spurs, in their double year, played the traditional English style game. Two out and out wingers, with a big bustling centre forward. John White (inside forward) was the maestro. A KDeB of 60 years ago. Danny Blanchflower was the brains of operations on the pitch  Dave McKay the heart.

Burnley. at that time were a force to be reckoned with. They would pin teams back. Playing the ball from right to left and left to right outside the penalty area. Waiting for the forwards to spot an opening rather than just hoof the ball into the penalty box.

There was an interesting game in the late 1950s I recall. The score Man U 6 - Villa 4. 10 goals all scored with headers. Just goes to show how teams played then. Everyone had concussion in those days. I headed a ball in a game in a 7th tier down game in Enfield and had headache for a week. Think I still feel the effects occasionally. We asked the ref to change the ball, but the alternatives were the same. Very hard and heavy.

Just as I'm writing this I am remembering that the year after Spurs double conquest it was Ipswich who were winners, and they had only been promoted the previous year.  Just Imagine that now-a-days!?

I think Spurs were the first team to invite a 'foreign' club to play in England under floodlights. Moscow Dynamo. They had toured the UK in 1945, playing to the ground-busting crowds (estimated 100k at Chelsea and 95K in Glasgow). My uncle watched the Arsenal game in the fog at The Lane (before my time).

yeah both signings james with  3 goals so far,, looks like the prem suits him,,but maintaing that level, BIG ask and the same applies to other signing at utd the stakes are high ,, and how good a signing has young been,, SO versatilee,, people rave bout milners adaptabilty but tbh ,, i'de sooner have young,, just.

Young has developed into a fine player. Especially now he has stopped that constant diving.

United, in the second half, reminded me of Burnley back in the 1960s. Harry Potts and Jimmy Adamson. Set new standards. Although Liverpool were the first English team I saw to play 4-2-4/4-4-2 under Paisley's coaching.
