I don't play golf. BUT, I would expect to pay to watch top notch action. And the exercise in nice surroundings of course.
Just a thought, if it was free to walk around the course, and a stray golf ball was to hit you on the head, and kill you, would any compensation be paid out to dependents?

Why is the Lady's World Cup not on Thai TV?
Mrs Owl is not as informed about this as she should be. She didn't even know the name of the Thai goal-scorer.
Does this 'lack of info' apply to other aspects of life for Thais?

A plate of baby squid, pictured in the OP, would be a lot more than 30/40 baht anywhere...
I would say 150 baht minimum and will always be more in a tourist spot that is the focus of the story.
A squid meal is free in Japan if you buy a koi carp to take home.

And at the end of the day, all these important bits of paper like the TM30, are bundled up and chucked into a corner of the back room. Then starts the divi-up.

Crab, fish, shrimps, squids, mantis shrimps and shellfish are cooked in different styles and each meal costs Bt250 net.
What!! 250 baht a person! My local eatery cost 30/40 baht a pop. Extra if you have a coke. 250 baht would see change for 5 people.
Just so expensive. Lovely art work.

Very true. Sad that so few seem to come to fruition.
I see the 'high speed' railway is still on track to be completed within two years.
<end of sarcasm mode>
Speaking of ;high speed' trains.
Just after the Military got in, a representative from the NEW government had our village captivated with talk of the new high speed train that would see Nong Khai to BKK in just a couple of hours. I sat and listened - although not understanding a word - along with a hundred others,
During the short Q & A bit, I said quietly to Mrs Owl 'ask if they going to "keep the same single track and are they going to have trains going in both directions at the same time?"' She asked. And after the answer, she told me "YES!"
Finished the talk with playing the Thai anthem. Very professional presentation it was.

I'd like to see Grealish at Spurs too. But Villa are a genuine BIG club. If they can get their act together this coming season they will be be buyers, not sellers.

Of course the cost of a single weir is variable based on many factors such as waterway width, flow, geography, sub strata etc etc etc. However let's just assume a very low cost estimate of 150,000 baht per location. Others may say it is a much lower average whilst conversely some will say higher.
So the statement in the "masterplan" was " construct 541,894 weirs " and presumably as no timescale was placed on their construction that would be phased over the 20 year period. So total cost would be 8,128,4100,000. We know that such projects always have been subject to wanton corruption and will no doubt be increasingly so under the current regime, of that total 30% will be skimmed off as a minimum so that equates to 23,447,336 baht per week being skimmed continuously over a 20 year period.
Payback for those supporting the new Junta perhaps ? Can't wait for the next 20 year project to be announced.
Agreed.
The figure that gets me thinking is "541894"; precisely. I'll be looking out for that lottery number next time.
The whole thing is just marks on bits of paper.
541894 weirs!!?? That's more than 74 a day, every day, for 20 years.

Regarding the Bridge at Nong Khai, IIRC Thai immigration will not allow you (back) into Thailand without an exit stamp from Laos.
I reckon you are right there bluesofa.
A few years ago I did the Veitienne visa and handed in two passports at the Embassy. They put the visa on the old passport but the stamp out of Thailand and the stamp into Laos was in the new. Because the old passport didn't have enough time.
On the way back; out of Laos no problem but at the Thai side they refused me entry. I had to go back to Laos and get another out stamp on the other passport. The Laos officials thought it funny.
Went back across the river and got stamped in no prob'.
These things happen.

I have used it like that ( creosote ) before on some teak "duck boards" in the garden last oil change,
but this time I forgot about doing that and put the old oil back into the new container and gave it to the local "scavenger" lady you can also just leave it by the rubbish bins and someone will take it for recycling...it does have monetary value.
Wasn't there a programme on TV years ago where ladies in China were recycling oils and fats? They were getting their stuff from the drains.
Would find its way back into the frying pan. Waste not, want not.
I'll try to find in on YT and post the link. Fascinating.

Why can't I be greedy like the others?

Let's nab him before some other Premier League club does. Him or Eddie Howe would be my preferences.
What about David Moyes? A much better manager than some. Got a rough deal at Utd, then clutched at straws. Lamps did well last year; but not THAT well. Couldn't get past Villa.
Eddie Howe should stay where he is for a couple more years.
Chelsea need a big name like Moysie.

Calling things by their name, this is a drain pipe that allows environmental criminals to dump their shit in the sea!
Could be right there 30la. I think that they look more like drain pipes than waterlogged floating buoys.
If they are pipes, are they operational?
However, Rimmer reckons they are parts of the marina project. Who am I to argue? I was last there in 2009. Different world down there.

I see that painting timber members is not for you then samuttodd. Ask about if someone has a wooden house or hut. Buy a 50mm brush and give it away with the oil. Don't give the oil to a Thai that will take it just to get the free brush and then throw the oil into the river.
Our time on this beautiful planet is short but the environment is here for much longer.

I've only shaved once this year due to having a beard. So when I decided to take the plunge a couple of days ago, I didn't have a shaver. Not to worry; I used a ceramic knife instead. Not a perfect shave but it was OK. Used plenty of shampoo for lubricant.

If you have a wooden house on the farm. Use the oil as a deterrent to creepy crawlies. Just paint it onto the timber like a shop-bought repellent.

My friend's son went on an Thai Army week end.
Throughout the stay it was made clear to the youngsters that the Thai military had saved Thailand.
He is 13, and has a farang father; fortunately, and gets told the other side of the story. The Thai kids might not get such a balanced view.

Seriously, mostly the farang takes a dive.
The girlfriend mostly is shopping, visiting somewhere, but near the diving spot.
Absolutely correct.
In some parts, farang are often the victim of tripping, slipping, overbalancing etc. And the gf, or wife, arrives on the scene quite fast, with some tale to tell.
Up here in Isaan, the farangs suffer in other ways. Unexplained
motor-bike crashes, peelaw activity, drowning and that favourite; poisoning.
A pal of mine died at two in the afternoon and was cremated in the village at eleven the next morning. An Aussie embassy member and his son were on their way. It was all done and dusted before they arrived.

Do you like clean-shaven women?. Very few Thai men can grow a full beard as Northerners do. IMHO, clean shaven and a decent cologne.
I like a natural woman. I want to see hair where it is supposed to be; eyebrows, underarm, back, pubes etc.
Shaved my beard off last night. Now I regret it. I look into the mirror and remember why I grew one.
COLOGNE!!!! I don't want to be Nancyfied. Nivea! It starts with you. Dear, me.

Great topic this. Age comes along no matter what we do.
Try the figure-of-eight bluesofa.
Just close your eyes and roll the eyes around in a figure of eight movement. Can be done with the eyes open, but better closed. Repeat three times. Don't over-do it as it can lead to bad headaches. But, once a day is good.
