The sun is out on this beautiful Sunday morning. This is the weekly Owl Log.
Oh dear! Still not started the solar cell construction. Have done as much as I'm able at the mo. Waiting for the cell connectors. New date for the action to commence is Saturday 24th. Then assuming that everything goes OK; it's sort out the pipes for palm watering.
No welding anywhere. Everything bolted on.
Have put on all the steel members. Not all are secured. Have left some unfixed for the possibility of slight adjustment on the day.
Been plenty of activity at number one farm. But not by me. A group of log cutters have been in there all week, cutting away.
A couple of oil-bottle squeezers.
What a beast of a saw?! 700mm long blade.
And the end result.
One of the last remaining dirt sois in the village is about to be concreted.
Putting the PVC water pipes in place. Isaan wouldn't function without PVC pipes. Millions of miles of them.
Rooney and her husband making charcoal.
These two will join me and Mildred next Saturday to fix up the solar.
The only house in the village to have resident pigeons.
Big event of the week in our soi was the 'chicken gala'.
It all runs on a points basis. a 360 degree turn is worth 1 point. A jump 5 points, and a loss of feather(s) is 2 points a feather; gained or lost.
You are next up bro'.
In training for next time.
After each round the chicken are given the best of love and attention.
Then it's action all the way. Very exciting stuff!
What have we here then?
Little buff, just a week or so old.
Will get some better shots in the week.
Did say to an earlier poster that I would get some pics of the avocados at the farm. All four were grown from seed.
Might never see fruit on them. Takes years I'm told. But I'm hopeful.
Big game of footy outside, for a couple of days, last week.
Mrs Owl's sister is on her annual visit from Oz. She was kind enough to bring me some Vegemite. Wasted no time in getting a taste.
Now, I've got a way of doing it. Dribble it over the cheese. But not too much as to smother it. Use a tooth-pick, or fork, and spike the cheese lumps. Then lick the Vegemite off before sucking the cheese to death.
Just can't get a better breakfast. Anywhere. With a big cup of Rosie; obviously.
Found out what they were getting up to on the week-end camp.
+++++
Great win for the Owls, and a shock defeat for the Foxes. Gunners going mad with the goals. 3 horse race in the EPL, although City drop points at home. Orient lose at home, but Aveley win away.
The whole family went to Kham Chanod yesterday. Unfortunately I couldn't go. Do a Owl Log special in the week. Quite crowded I'm informed.
Completely given up on my urine challenge. My eyebrows were out of control. Keeping up with my diet though. And my bathroom yoga.
We have both 'Zoi' dog food and Zoi cat food. I think it comes from China; as most stuff does nowadays.
Thumb still sore. But healing up good.
Bought a new light for the kitchen. The Mrs says it's not bright enough, so I've ordered a three meter 'white' strip. The one I just put up was 'warm' light. Have to keep her onside, because she makes me a nice cuppa. If she didn't do one, who would? Mildred can, but the tea don't taste as good. Have to give credit there. 3 in 1 coffee too. Mrs makes a great cup. Shame about the whacking and the other stuff. Can't have a perfect life like other farangs.
Also new in the kitchen; an air fryer. Although it doesn't really fry. Does food more like an oven. Tonight she says she will do my fritters in it. Bought if on Lazada for 785 baht, with 45 baht P&P. With a tip; 850 baht. Found the exact same one in Big C on Friday afternoon, for 999 baht. So done OK there.
Drinks are rocketing up. A litre of Apple Cider, or Tomato juice, is 70+ baht a litre now. Not so long ago they were 45 baht.
Wars all over. Is there a safer - or better - place to live than in the north of Isaan?
Only one down-pour since 17th October. And, according to the BBC world 'long range' forecast, none until April.
That's it. Thanks for visiting. Take care out there.

Quite a fearsome monster indeed !
Hide your beer !!
🤣
But those tanks are only 200-300 liters ?
I thought the water was for irrigation, not your morning rosie… 😎
Often those tanks have a sensor in them to stop the solar pump working when they are full. Turn on the tap, the water goes down, and the pump starts back up.
Most of these irrigation systems are very low pressure. Just need a steady flow. I'll be doing it later this month.

Two hands on the grinder and covered footwear please Mr Owl !
I'm sorry but I don’t understand what the small elevated tanks are for ?
Absolutely right. No hand on the grinder, but did have two on the metal.
Those small tanks are just to store water when there is no sun. Not like that monster I have spotted.

It's Monday the 12th of February and this is weekly Owl Log.
We didn't get to do the solar system as planned on Sunday. Been put off 'til Saturday next. Mildred came home from the school camp on Saturday afternoon. When home, she went straight to bed, and slept for about 4 hours. Was still tired on Sunday, so we put off the construction. She reckons she only had 4/5 hours sleep a night while she was away. But!! Said she enjoyed the experience.
Mildred reckoned there were getting on for 100 tents in the football field areas.
Plenty of fun after dark.
The postponement of solar system day, will give me chance to do more at the house, so there will be less to do on the day. With no leccy, I've been bolting and screwing everything down. Cross sections are in, and the down-members have got their mountings fixed, but not yet bolted in place. Might do that this afternoon.
Biggest challenge was keeping everything square. Could have used the 3, 4, 5 Pythagoras ticket, but decided to lay a board on top for guidance. a bit breezy, but I managed.
Bought the last couple of odd and sods from Daisha. Also a small step ladder.
Micky and Mini giving a warm welcome to Daisha visitors.
The twins enjoying an ice-cream.
The demolition is fully completed. What's it gonna be? A new house surely!
The woodcutter was at it for a couple of days last week.
Some long planks there.
Dawn still been slow to arrive in the mornings. Views taken while waiting for Mildred's bus.
Looking east.
And north a bit later on. That's Robert having a sniff around.
Found a couple of pics taken on the 4th. At the roadside, outside the market.
Since I've been doing the solar, I've noticed new things. It's a bit like getting a different car, you then see so many, of the same make and colour, about.
This one has metal posts. Terrible pic.
The one on the left is mounted on rings.
Paid another visit to Ban Dung's north end 7/11. Had a bit of food for them. Got some nice pics.
That fish is sometimes called 'butterfly' or 'long-fin' koi.
+++++
The Owls win against Brum 2-0. Irons lose 0-6 at home. Ivory Coast win the African Nations Cup. City, Gunners and Pool march on. Top two in the championship both win; Foxes and Saints.
The weather was changing from chilly to warm, then it changed back to chilly for a couple of days.
As soon as I've posted the weekly log, I'll get started on some metal-work.
My left thumb is in the wars. Smashed it at the farm two weeks ago, and cut it through to the bone, with the grinder, on Friday. I had attached a metal cutter to the grinder, and it jumped up. Was gonna stitch it up, but couldn't find a curvy needle. Gave it the 'Special Forces' treatment instead. Mrs Owl was moaning about the mess on the floor tiles. Will be OK in a couple more days. Should have been more careful. Will be in future. Famous last words,
Had to fix up a couple of things over the weekend. Put in a new shower unit. Bought a sharp; 2k baht.
Sorted out broken tiles in the sink.
The tiles break cause Mrs Owl is a bit heavy on the cutting board. Bit of neat cement sorted it last night. Didn't use the sink for 8 hours after; to allow for a good curing.
Yet another death in the village. No! Not me. A chap of about 60. That's three in two weeks.
Only one thing left to say. Bye y'all.

President Joe Biden on Thursday gave his sharpest criticism yet of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military campaign, which has killed more than 27,000 Palestinians, according to health officials in Gaza.
“I’m of the view, as you know, that the conduct of the response in Gaza, in the Gaza Strip, has been over the top,” Biden said in response to a reporter’s question at the White House.
Biden said he has been “pushing very hard” for a temporary cease-fire in exchange for the release of hostages held by Hamas and freeing of Palestinians in Israeli jails.
Although the two are joined at the hip, they are both seeking different agendas. Netenyahu's aim it to is multi-faceted. Firstly; he would like to see a broader Middle East war, with the US and UK involved naturally. He wants to chuck out all Palestinians from their homeland. He - and his Zionist psychopathic team - are trying desperately to keep him out the nick.
Biden on the other hand is looking forward to election time. He is way behind in the opinions and has to temper his hung-ho statements. American sentiment has changed.

You are just looking at the situation from afar three months later and thinking "How can we blame Israel" and joining the pieces together and subtracting some facts and adding other so called facts so Israel is to blame for everything .
The tunnels didn't go right to the border fence and the terrorists who flew over in hand gliders didn't use any tunnels .
*How can we blame Israel for this*
I think it important to look at intent. Evidence at the recent genocide trial, where top people in Israel said they wanted to clear the Palestinians from ; well Palestine. Opportunity beckoned!
"How can we blame Israel?" I am not blaming Israel alone. The US, UK and Germany sat back and watched this catastrophe unfold for decades. And all three actively encouraged the killings.

You mean the Hamas terror tunnels?
Iran's active support for forces dedicated to defeat both the USA and Israel?
There's a lot happening in the middle east so you need to be more specific.
Ok! Let's be specific shall we.
You think the Israeli intelligence didn't know about boring hundreds of metres of tunnels? This was a surveillance system that would know if a porcupine got anywhere near the prison fence.
The deliberate 6/7 hour delay in dealing with the prison breakout and the tunnels, all point - for anyone paying attention - to this all being long planned. It was what the IDF, and those pulling the strings, wanted all along. An excure to begin the complete removal of non-Jews from Gaza and - IMO - the whole of Palestine. The specific break-out incident was the trigger to unleash the genocide. Backed up fully by the US, UK and Germany.

I have 4 avocados trees grown from seed. I'll put a pic up later.
When I'm at the farm, I look around at the sheer beauty of nature. I see lizards, birds, butterflies and many other nature wonders. Love the fish. Love nature. Love life.
It's not all honey and cheese though. But overall, Isaan is probably the best place to be in the world. Perhaps maybe second to Dagenham; behind the power station, near the dock. Where one can pass away hours throwing stones at the bottles bobbing up and down in the Thames.

Do you know the figure ?
How many Israelis come from the Middle East ?
How many USA citizens come from America .
Some Europeans went to Israel to live and some Europeans went to the USA to live .
Do you have American Indian heritage ?
Original roots in the Middle East! According to Chris Hedges - and others - reckon it's well below 10%. Most Israelis have their roots in Europe, although a few come from the US.
The English, Spanish and others went across the Atlantic to take over the Americas. Mascaraing the locals as they went. Old habits die hard.

True; I'm not a supporter of Israel, its leaders, policies or its present massacre of mostly women and children Gazsaians.
But as far as religion goes; I don't like or dis-like Jews any more than I do Christians. They all have their bad parts. Some have done good stuff.
I'm not at all happy with the western countries that have allowed Israel to gradually grow into the monster it is. But, I reckon the end is in sight for the whole Zionist cults; whatever religion they hide behind. Bitten off more than they can chew.

If you think that likely you really are anti Zionist. Your right but I oppose that.
Zionism was/is a cult. The people involved, since the late 1800s (when this all started), were/are not religious; at least not in the true sense. If a Jew is not religious that he is not a Jew. Not in my book. Could a Christian who don't believe be a Christian? Of course not! Same thing.
Talking about thousands of years of Jewish history in simply 'humbug'. The area that is now being fought over - in fact the whole area that is oil-rich - was once lush forests. People then, were not Jews or Christians or anything else. They probably were more like the original Nth Americans. They believed in what they saw; day to day.
Antisemitism is a nonsense IMO. What actually does it refer to? How can it be defined? The true Semites are the Palestinians. Only a handful of Israelis come from the area. Remember that after WW11, the gangs that terrorised the area clearing people off their land, were anti-English, and some were prepared to aline themselves to all sorts. Remember also, that these Zionist terrorists were later to be the leaders of Israel's military and government.
You can't tell me that the driver of the Gaza debacle (BN) is religious. There won't be a welcome for him at the gates of heaven for sure. More like down below for that psychopath..
IMO, the last American pres', to put his country before Israel, was JFK. Recall what happen to him? The current leaders are simply paid off or compromised. They cannot be seen to go against Israel, or the Israel lobby. That's how powerful this cult is. They have infiltrated everything that has influence. Hollywood, MSM, Tech etc.
The ultimate goal of the Zionists is the complete take over of Palestine; without any non-Jews being there. And - US, Germany and UK permitting - will broaden their horizons.

Zionism evolved as a POLITICAL liberation movement with the goal of self determination in a national homeland for Jewish PEOPLE religious and non religious. Why?
Because of thousands of years of persecution in the diaspora.
The diaspora from the indigenous homeland of the Jewish people. Israel.
Not the same as Hamas which is an extremist Islamist movement.
In my view saying Zionism is a cancer is hate speech.
It's like being against the right of Thaus to have political self determination in their state.
What utter nonsense.

The fb auto translate often doesn’t work on this page, I suspect they may be writing in Lao language ?Mr Owl had mentioned a fishing park, which conjured images of hoards of Thai and Farang with bait casters, fly rods and maybe hand lines not this rabble with Thai nets !
It looks like a total circus down there ! 🤣
Does look a bit hectic. The water is very shallow. The fishes must be scared. Let's hope they were OK.
