  1. Found the precise HTML code. <IMG SRC="URL of first pic" onmouseover="this.src='URL of second pic';" onmouseout="this.src='URL of first pic again';"> Absolutely change only text in 'red'. Didn't remember it quite like this 25 years ago; but it's all good now.
  2. Thanks for that Sterling. HTML is not new to me. About 25 odd years ago I was creating web-sites out of a shop in Wembley, London. At that time there was only two real options; write direct in HTML or use Dreamweaver. I can recall creating four sites in one day. At that time I used 'frames'; big time! I had a very good skeleton and simply filled the specifics in, that the customer wanted. Alas, those days are well gone. Much of the coding I used then is not now supported. Web sites of today are far more intricate and dynamic than in the early days. Regarding 'onmouseover' and 'onmouseout'. I have incorporated those elements for 'tables', but what I need is to change images when the mouse hovers over. Modern internet scripting and coding is like 'double-dutch' for me at the moment. Although Mildred gave me 9 out of 10 for what I've done so far. The other thing that I'm stuck on, is centering a 'for content only'. 'text box'; not for interactivity. To get around this, I'm using a 'table' (with a very light background colour), and simply writing the text in. That is really time consuming, considering I already have the text as I want it elsewhere on the computer. The biggest problem there is eliminating 'white space'. Have nine pages completed though. So it's not too shabby an effort. When it's fully operational I'll put a link on here.
  3. Before putting it in a grow-bag, or pot, check on the plant's roots. A small root will thrive just in water but once it goes into the soil it will probably not fare so well. If I could suggest some soil. Don't have to be spot on but:40% worm casts, 40% potting mix. 20% washed soft sand. Just mix it all up. Perfect. Once potted; must drench it with water until it's over half metre high. Good luck. Keep us posted.
  4. Owl log - 24-10-2021 - Sunday afternoon A long wait for the big rain. 22nd of October was the day. Better late than never. The water was not draining from the yard when I got up, so I thought it could be a good one. Some pics. I spent the afternoon of the 22nd working with our handy-man on water related stuff. First thing was to put the caps on the overflow pipes. Didn't want the water running out. Waited so long to see them filled. That done it was putting into place the water equalling pipes. Put both into pond two and tree. That took a bit longer than expected. But we got there in the end. Be interesting to see if the two ponds are level this afternoon. Be going in about 30 minutes. Straight after finishing the Owl Log. As soon as that was finished we filled up the two water bowls in the loo. Took about 30 bucket fulls to fill them. The chickens were locked away on Friday afternoon. I had a lot of rice for them so I went over to their compound. He lets them all out if he is there. And calls them in with food when he wants to go back to the village. The house on the big road - Nan's old place - is doing business fixing up; well anything that moves. Although it was closed when we were there. I didn't go around the back to look, but the side still needs attention. Mrs Owl's garden is doing well. Mildred spotted a couple of fruits. It's all looking good for the moment. Rain, fruit and the lillies have blossomed in number seven. I've been so busy of late, that my water project has been put on hold. There was an air leak. I have fixed that, but I'm not sure if the mastic will air-proof it. Have to see next week. Also added some more two inch pipe at the bottom. For more water weight. It's gonna work great. After this I'll start thinking about drawing water up for 6 metres down. Although after the rain it might be a bit less. The headset arrived from LAZADA. This morning the Mrs sat on them. So that's another fix. The rice looks to be about two weeks away from harvest. Lastly a short vid of Mildred feeding the fish. video_25641012_173524.mp4 So there we have it. Had to wait until the start of the dry season to get a decent downpour. Plenty of goals in the footy. Good to see. What about the Hornets? Let in five at home last week and scored five away yesterday. Can the Irons hit Spurs for six today. Of course. Kadilo will be happy tonight. Bought a web-site on Easyspace. Been trying to remember all the coding from years ago. Much of it is not supported now. Anyone out there that can help me with 'onmouseover' and 'onmouseout' html coding? That's if for now. Mildred had her twelfth birthday last week. Had a slap-up, no expense spared meal for three in Ban Dung Kentucky on Tuesday. Back to roots and fruit since then. Off to the farm shortly. Only one thing left to say; bye y'all.
  5. Why do the United knockers still keep at it? Just a blip in a long season. They won at the Iron's gaff a few weeks back didn't they? Spurs had their dodgy spell; let in three goals for three matches running. Now they are right back up there. The Gunners also started poorly too. Liverpool only took two points from six recently. Don't hear their fans shouting for a change in leadership. The one criticism I've got with United is that too many of their players seem to be simply going through the motions. Can't win every game; but can always gIve 100%
  6. Thanks for that FJ. I've watched a few of these. I'm concentrating on my little one as the first part of a learning curve. This afternoon we had it running for quarter of an hour. Not too much flow; about 7 seconds to discharge a litre. But things were not going to plan! Took off the stop valve and tested it. It was leaking. Decided to discard it. Put an extra length of 1/2 inch pipe on. Filled the tank up once again while Mildred held her hand over the inflow pipe. Turned on the outflow valve half way, Mildred took her hand away, and it was running. But a leak developed where the top pipe went into the tank. That was small but significant. We were gradually losing vacuum pull. After a while, I turned the bottom valve on full to see what would happen; and the tank started to buckle. There are certain criteria that have to be met for these projects. I'm taking note and I'm quite confident that I will have success. As for dragging water up vertically from 6 metres down; well that's for the future. I might have to do a double tank for that. Watch this space! Thanks to everyone for your interest.
  7. I did cover all this Bernoulli and pressure-in-pipes stuff at Uni. Fortunately I have forgotten what I once taught. Remember the Wright Bros? They didn't get it spot on first try. Or the gun. Plenty of problems with that until John Wayne came along. I did an experiment a few years back, where I capitulated an expensive water tank. Similar sort of thing; but then I relied on science. What I need to do is work out how much pulling power the vacuum has, and I can then work everything out. Or, forget the physics and maths and just suck it and see. Trial and error! We did get it going for a while today; honest!!!! Being an Irons - and Orient - supporter I'm the eternal optimist. No leccy at the farm yet. Perhaps next year.
  8. Oh ye of so little faith. I'll have it fully operational by next Owl Log. With a video too. Just have to work out the pulling power of the vacuum. Watch this space guys!!!!!!
  9. Good news about or energy-free water contraption. We got it to work for short while this evening. Have to increase the weight of the water in the outflow below the holder. Also a beefier main holder. The one in use caved in a bit. Pics and an full update next Owl Log. Tomorrow is another day of learning.
  10. Fantastic. I've also tried this. But not with 100% success like your Mrs, Gary. The one at the farm - planted from stone - should be giving fruit next year. How much? Who knows?! I'll settle for half a dozen to start with.
  11. Thought I would have two originally. One where it is now, and another at the underside of the tank. Think the valve was a little too much for the system to open. When Mildred held the valve open. it worked fine for a while, but as soon as the first air bubble went up from the outlet, there was no more draw. I screwed off the valve and adjusted the spring. Then I thought there was an air leak directly under the tank. By then it was getting dark and we adjourned for the day. Quite happy with what we learned though. Also, couldn't get all the air out at the start; due to the shape of the holder. Thinking of drilling a hole in the top of the holder to completely fill it, then block it off before letting it run. But maybe just a little air wouldn't matter. Try again tomorrow.
  12. I need a little upward bit of PVC. I thought I could get away with it on the first model. But once the bubbles started coming they stopped the in flow. On the main one I have a big 3 incher, one metre high.
  13. Owl Log - 14-10-2021 - Thursday evening The big storm is with us. Enough rain to stop a game of cricket for sure. But not so much that I had to put on jacket when I went out. Had a look at Bella's farm leccy set up. All told over 75k Baht for the lot. Four six by three solar panels. And inside. The guys were drinking on the roof. Bella and her mate were fishing in our pond. Only caught four little ones. I started building the water lift system today. A small one to start. If this works we will scale it up tenfold, and lift water from six metres down. I've worked out - according to the Bernoulli pressure chart - the water in the outflow will have to be about 500 kg. So that's a challenge to look forward to. Set the tank in place and started filling it with water. The basic idea is to use the weight in the two inch pipe to lift the water from lower down in the smaller pipe. No problems. Nearly there. Just have to shut off the top valve and open the lower one. And Bob's yer uncle. Water continually going round the system. We can let it run for a month or two; non stop. Drove past Gong's euca farm yesterday. Needs attention. Have to keep everything ticky-boo for the first couple of years. The two biggest mini-marts are closed. Last week a person had a covid test in Udon. It proved positive. Her boyfriend had been in the village and it was thought that he went into both shops. So that was that. Closed for a week or 10 days. Warachip is still doing some business. The shop next to us is unaffected, and quite busy. Mildred cut loose with the camera. Jack does like a stroke. No sign of Beauty. The school on the main road has had its trees topped. Very slow work for the water drillers. We have four wells still active and one that caved in, with the pump lost. Went past the twin's house in the week. Growing into beautiful young girls. Grandpa Younge takes good care of them; while mum and dad are away. Mildred feeding the fish. video_25641012_173524.mp4 Footy back this weekend. Just can't seen to raise enthusiasm for the Internationals. Ronaldo got his 58th hat-trick career lest Tuesday. Fantastic player he is. Mildred's season of school home-teach has finished. A month off now. Chance to do some Art, English and Maths. And have a game or two of chess. Still waiting for Mrs Owl's ear phones to arrive from Japan. Top of the range. Ordered them on 20th September. LAZADA says they are at customs in Thailand. Also ordered a length of LED strip lighting. The light in the bathroom has gone, and I'm replacing it with a foot or so of the new one when it arrives. It says you can cut it. I'll confer with Golden Triangle if I'm not sure. only one thing left to say; bye y'all.
  14. When I first heard about Bitcoin it was under $10. I recall chatting to my Farang friend about it, and explaining the merits of an on-line currency. Then I only took notice fleetingly from then on. Getting started seems to be be getting more complicated as I get older. I contacted a company a couple of weeks back when the price was just over $30k. It was the one promoted by Max Keiser at that time. It turned out that it was only for Americans. Since then Bitcoin has jumped up near $20k.
  15. Gonna get the fittings to make my little 'water lift' mechanism today. I've gone over the maths and I'm quite confident that I'm on the right track. The data is as follows: Weight of water in the inflow pipe - 1.2 kg Weight of water in the outflow pipe - 6.25 kg So there we have it.
  16. Max Keiser is still confident that Bitcoin will hit $200,000 by the end of the year. Heard him say it a couple of times recently.
  17. I drew out a detailed plan this afternoon. I'll get some fittings in Ban Dung and have it up and running next week. Will have a prototype sorted for this week though; scaled down to about 20%. I was rich once before. Gave it all away. Not interested in being wealthy.
  18. No GT! No leccy! I hope to do it without power of any description. If all works well, it will come in at under 2k baht. Me and Mildred are gonna make a scaled down version first. I've just drawn out a detailed plan. It works on gravity differentials. Mrs Owl has just gone to Ban Dung on her own. When she gets back with the pick-up, I'll go to the farm and get started.
  19. Interesting thoughts of late. Could I harness the effects of gravity to bring water out of a well 6 metres down? Without using leccy; either from the grid or solar cell. In fact with no power of any description. A bit like how a hand pump works, or one of those nodding oil donkeys, that are all over parts of the US; but without the human energy involved. This line of thinking is not new to me. I've spent many hours thinking about it in the past. Hours constructing systems. And spent lots of money, that was ultimately wasted, buying stuff that was thrown away in the end. I've also ruined some quite expensive water holders. Last night laying in bed, I had one of those 'light bulb' moments. It all suddenly became crystal clear. I showed Mildred this morning, and although she said she kinda understood my drawings, I'm sure she couldn't grasp the principles. It all works on the principle on gravity creating a vacuum. Gonna see what bits and bobs I have stashed away at the farm and get to it. Watch this space!!
  20. On the whole I agree with you Bannork. I have a few more. Eating a Big Mac with a knife and fork. Preparing an avocado with a potato peeler. Ladyboys that put one hand on their hip when they walk. Men who dye their chest hair. OTT matching clothes; purple socks, purple shorts, purple shirt and a purple hat; for example. Nike trainers with pink socks. Loud music playing in cars with the windows open. Cricketers in the outfield, laying down between overs. Men who use immac for their nose hair (I use pliers). Cups - men drink from mugs.
  21. Of course not CL. Some might think I'm of neanderthal, or cave man, mentality. But no! I've been there with that 'in touch with his feminine side', and it didn't work for me. No! In fact I was unhappy about it. But I expect a lady to be tough too. I'll show her once, and if they can't do it after that, then too bad. Especially when I took a new bird fishing, and she wanted me to put the maggots on the hook for her. I'll show her the once, but after that; well!! I'm not suggesting that we go out and whack a lady with a club, and drag her off to a cave. But there is a lot to be said for cutting the sarnie across, instead of that corner to corner namby-pamby nonsense. What I don't like is that kissing and hugging by footballers when their team scores a goal. Then tears when they lose. Mrs Owl is calling me. Finish this rant later.
  22. Of course, when one is married, one has to compromise a bit. I usually have a little of a 20 Baht note sticking out of my top pocket. Mrs Owl often comes around to my way of thinking once she notices it. We all have to compromise. It's an acquired art for a married guy; especially in Thailand.
  23. Beckham types! Oh, he is so much in touch with his feminine side. He wears my undies. Air con. Sarnies cut corner to corner. Hair spray. Umbrellas. Creases in trousers. Cups. Hair clips. Shaving armpits. Nivea for men. Using a fork upside down. Soldiers to eat boiled eggs. Wearing knee pads in bed. Footballers jumping on each other's backs. Fox hunting. Sleeping with a dog. Using tissues to blow nose; then throwing them away. Putting plastic flowers in pots in the home. Ducks on the wall. Writing a letter on lined paper. Tattooing eyebrows. The list goes on and on. Where's my club Mrs Owl?
  24. It was yourself that gave me the impetus to order the units. Just 74 Baht each! Been looking at the LEDs on the internet; very interesting too. Sun's out.
