  1. I got "Farmer" off the top of my head...
  2. But perhaps not significant to the individual claiming it was not their problem, which is what we were talking about. The "costs" you mention disproportionally hurt the poor, but do not significantly impact the rich.
  3. Do not be fooled. Anyone concerned about fairness would never consider loan forgiveness fair, except perhaps in extraordinary circumstances.
  4. Do you have any facts that support your claim about the 1.9 - 2.3 trillion dollar tax cut that disproportionately went to the wealthiest Americans and corporations? I understand how complex this must sound, but tax cuts by definition disproportionately benefit taxpayers. Tax recipients, such as welfare recipients and people reneging/wanting to renege on their student loans generally do not benefit from tax cuts. To be clear, tax cuts only let the people that actually fund welfare and the student loan keep a little more of their money.
  5. I can make Swift transfers online from my US bank, and they have a page in the process when you have to select a reason. Banks have always been good to me and if I have to answer a few questions or fill out a form now and then to make think more secure or to help fight crime so be it.
  6. I'm getting ~3% at my US (Chase) bank now, while only about 1% in Thailand. A few years ago it was about 2% in Thailand and 0.01% at the US bank,
  7. A lot of people here would agree with you. The OP is asking about transferring US$127,000 plus, so in comparison, US$10,000 is a "small amount". What I said was that for transfers under about US$10K, Wise was the better value, because the bank typically charges a flat rate (US$45 at my bank) for a swift transfer, while Wise makes it from the rate. Your numbers actually bear that out, as at US$10K, there is only a US$5 difference, and the Swift transfer fee was much more than that. In my opinion, Wise is great for making monthly transfers to satisfy immigration or whatnot, but not great for transferring US$127,000. It's not really that hard to figure out the break-even point between Wise and Swift by comparing them in a spreadsheet and increasing the transfer amount until they meet. Above that amount, Swift will be the better value.
  8. I like Dr. Pornthep Mingmalairuks at Sikarin Hospital Samut Prakarn who I've been seeing since I had a TIA several years ago.
  9. No, I do not have a dollar account. And they also reconfirm it is for a real-estate purchase when they call. .
  10. The receiving/Thai banks, both Kasikorn and Krungsri. The sending/US bank has nothing to do with the conversion, as they charge a flat rate for the transfer, and they transfer dollars.
  11. Assuming it the works the same as from the US, transfer GBP, and have the bank do the exchange to THB here. In the US my bank charges a $45 fee, which makes Swift a better value than Wise and whatnot for transfers over about $10K. Small transfers Wise or some-such is often better. I always say it's for real-estate purchase, regardless of what it's for. On larger transfers, the bank always calls me, lets me know what the rate is, asks if it's okay of if I want to wait.
  12. The painted tubs I have seen in the US do not look very good and do not hold up well. If it's fiberglass, spreying it with a coat of epoxy wil work as good as anything. but the prep-work is critical. Assuming the tub is fiberglass, the color could come back with a good rub/buff-out. HomePro does decent installations at reasonable cost. Upgrade to a jacuzzi...
  13. Yeah, this is hideous: Why does it have to be cooled with AC?
  14. I'd build an enclosure over the pool with solar panels.
  15. Any like you leave on over eight hours a day will pay for itself pretty quick. If you only use it for an hour a day it will not. Replace the high use and save the take-out to spare the low-use.
  16. I would try it, and if I liked it, and it were cheaper, I would buy it.
  17. If you're worried about whether you should have a drink, it's time to quit.
  18. Why would a rich parent pay for tuition if their poor child can borrow the money and not pay it back? Unless you have piles of cash hidden in your basement, whether you borrow money to pay for something, or pay for it directly, you are still effectively paying interest. If one pays cash for something, they lose the growth they would otherwise have earned from the investment, yes? It's called the time value of money. Surly you've heard of this. Would it not make more sense to end the educational tax deductions the greedy rich benefit from? I would support 100 "free" university education for everyone if entrance was based purely on academic meritocracy, you? Assuming you show up most of the time, I do not believe there are exams you have to pass to graduate from the typical US public high school. Of course, if you show up most of the time you will likely have to take some tests and what not, but because the tests are all racist I think they have been largely eliminated.
  19. Only a tiny fraction of high school graduates and others that apply for student loans are rich. Not true, many universities do not require you take a test to get in, including but not limited to Harvard University, Stanford University and Columbia University. Indeed.
  20. Rich people will take out loans when the government starts forgiving loans, and once it's "free", it will be free for them as well. Do you think that everyone that wants to go to university should be allowed to go for free, or do you think they should have to score a minimum on a test of some kind?
  21. Do you think the people that do not need the private tutor should have to pay for the private tutor the people that need private tutoring use?
