  1. You can seriously believe that the cost will not go up if medical care is made "free". That's more ridiculous than calling it a "human right".
  2. Yeah, I don't believe that I think the idea is ridiculous. Is food a human right? Housing? Transportaion? Internet?
  3. Unless you like dark colored cars, or sunroofs for that matter.
  4. Why do you assume it's Thailand that does not have it right?
  5. Therein lies the rub. Yes, people should have valid insurance and I driver license, I think we all agree on that. The issue is what's to be done about the irresponsible few?
  6. So when everyone that comes gets free medical do you not see that 0.04% rising significantly?
  7. The problem typically arises when the person renting is irresponsible, putting the onus on them will not pay the hospital bill. So as long as they have a copy of anything they're clear?
  8. I may be wrong, but I think most westerners visiting Thailand do not need a visa, so making insurance a visa requirement will do nothing. I also think it a good bet that most people traveling to Thailand for holiday either have insurance or a little money or both. It's not like the medical bills are astronomical, this guys bills are less than $20K.
  9. How is a small rental operator in a tourist supposed to know if the license they are shown is even real? You can show the most anything. I gave a "license" I got from the Autopia ride at Disneyland to a police officer and he took it. If it's up the operator to check licenses or insurance, they'll be someone down the street selling licenses and insurance. Compelling the rental operators to carry insurance to cover medical would be a better strategy. Let the people renting motorcycles pay for it.
  10. The kind you like to stick your..........in.
  11. That's what I said in a previous post, you must have missed it. And it would be no different in a government or any competent hospital.
  12. As always, the responsible many will be punished for the actions of the irresponsible few.
  13. Is there not an app for that?
  14. They do a great job for us.
  15. I can't speak to this particular hospital, but I've stayed 24/7 with my wife at BNH, BKK Hospital and Bumrungrad, and she's stayed with me 24/7 at Bumrungrad, BKK hospital and Sikarin. You know not of what you speak.
  16. Unless you have someone else making deposits for you. Only chumps pay interest. It's called a secured credit card, or more correctly, a stored value card.
  17. It's all people using air conditioning and has nothing to do with all the new EVs plugging in on Saturday evening?
  18. If you use CW, why not just get the letter the same day downstairs from Immigration? I usually make a small transfer from the B800K account in the morning before I leave. Go to immigration and book the queue. Go to the bank downstairs and ask for the letter (letter takes 10 min) and update the book. Take the book to have copies made. Stop at the bank and pick up the letter. Get a coffee and go back to immigration.
  19. I read the story. It says: "Luckily Liam’s friend has supported him through this but is only able to visit him for an hour a day so we know nothing about the other 23 hours of his time/ treatment." It does not say the hospital is limiting visitation, it only says that the friend is only able to visit him for an hour a day. It has been my experience that Thai hospitals are generally very accommodating with visitors. In any event, if Liam is in the ICU, it makes sense that visitation would be very limited, if allowed at all.
  20. Where does it say the hospital is limiting the visitation?
  21. Why should you not have to pay if you have no insurance? In any evert, in the US you only have to pay if you have money.
  22. Yes, clearly it time that all non-Thais are barred from owning, renting and riding motorcycles in Thailand.
