  1. My real family is my mom, father, brother and sister, who Im still in contact with, and now I have a wife in Thailand. I had a fiancee, and also was married but no kids on my own, so I do not carry any negative feelings to anyone in previous life. Im actually feeling quite blessed, not because I did not struggle in my life because I did struggle, and I crash economically in 1990, 2008 and 2020, where I had to restart. Lucky I had learned something when covid hit, and had more secured business I could jump off without loosing to much. Being able to think positive and restart without negative feeling about past is the most essential quality, no matter who or where you are and to many just another cliche I guess. The question is, why do they not want to acknowledge their father? Complicated for both parts I guess to admit any wrongdoing, or trying to solve the problems especially when the distance between them, is physically great when one part living in Us and the other part in Thailand. We all have some issues with our families at some point in life
  2. Maybe it boils down to what interests you have and where you get most value for your money? Every country have its qualities, and for some Pattaya or Patong was what got them in the first place, and now it is all over. Nothing will be the same again. For me it was the fearless life doing outdoor sports, and now Im done, no interest of diving around dead corrals or overcrowded see full of snorkelers and wannabe divers. Just to give a reference. What Thailand offers on the touring side with motorbike is what kept me here until I settled and got married. So now I have a good reason to stay.
  3. I could not survive in Vietnam or Cambodia, but Philippines and Malaysia I could live if not Thailand. Indonesia I have not been yet or Bali.
  4. Thats also true, after covid and came back home for first time after almost 3 years, I got the same feeling, but it is still the place where my family live, where I was born, where I have alot of good memories, and where I have created my life so I can live here in Thailand.
  5. I believe Thailand is a good place to live, but it will never be like Home, or a place you feel you belong 100% no matter how good wife, family or nice house, farm or apartment you got. We will always be a farang, or the farang.
  6. It takes a bit more than just guys with guns and ammo. Of course they can create hell locally, but without leaders, structure and discipline as well logistics they got nothing no matter how big they would manage to grow. Where to hide in Us? But if a x president would be re-elected, and start changing the system then there will be a problem, but not much resistance. It will happen quicker than you would know, and those right wings would protect and back every move he did. No doubt
  7. Some of those I meet (younger) have like 12-18 days and add flexible days on top of that. Often works 12-16 hours a day or a flat out 48 hour week. Edit note for less money than 200k a year.
  8. And making usd 200k a year, how many leave days a year do you have in average being employed?
  9. Being from Norway, I can say the same, and I have spent a few years in Usa in several states to base my opinion on it, as well 25 or so other countries visited longer than just a holiday. Both for work and sports. As long you are born at the right side in Usa, you got good chances, but in Norway (nordic countries included Iceland), It doesnt matter where you come from, or who your parents is, you have equal chances to be what you want in life, and everyone have social security no matter what you do or what you are. The american way is not for everyone
  10. Sabai sabai life is slow but good, have time for everything!
  11. How? Somehow you find out if he is religous or a republican, and from there a walk in the park. Just let a fellow quite educated american in his 50ies, and they wanted to meet us for a dinner. It took me two minutes and he looked like he never wanted to see me again ever! I said I could not believe people are so idiots and believe in a complete fixed vote, and the pedophile rumors about the democrats politicians. Just a few more minutes with chit chat, and they where off. Most Americans is nice and a pleasure to be around, but when they start get going about politics and q annan tendencies Im off. Not that they are Q annan, but surprisingly many believe in smaller fraction of it.
  12. Why would a drug dealer legalize it, if he was under protection? Especially under the terms we se is practiced at the moment? Free flow
  13. I cant understand how people cope with becoming older at all? Somehow we all find our ways, some do not and are stuck in an endless boring loop, others look at life as they get older in a positive light! I can not explain to you the joy of work, and see your offsprings as well harvest growing in front of you. Fresh food and surrounded by trees. I do not need to work hard, and this is an necessary investment for my wife, and for me a hobby. We both are privileged enough to sit here and being bored right now, just imagine that! Once and awhile every second month we get out of the farm to have some holiday, but after two days we already missing hour favorite dog and the farm. Home better but still a nice reminder
  14. It is more close to Centara and Hilton and the Kite surfing shop? South on the beach more quiet
  15. Always great to have an owner who is interested in his customers and are there for them with advised and local knownledge. Once and awhile he trow a bbq for his guests to. Great food as always
  16. Anyone else gettingmore spam mail on the e-mail used here for log in? These ones I had to redirect with a new web address and come back.
  17. If you get stuck with responsibility's and can not leave, it will be a different feeling. But as long you manage to keep options, it is actually a preferred lifestyle even some continue to bash the Isaan dream ????
  18. Being periodic bored is part of life, and makes life Sweeter on the other side of it. No matter where I go or what I do, at some point I get bored of doing the same and be same place. But truth is, I get less and less bored at the farm where I feel more and more connected with little with work and responsibility's as well care for the animals. It is a good sign when you start missing daily life while travelling to new and exotic places.
  19. Part of making living as an expat here. He covers everything that comes to his mind and probably right on most seen from different perspectives. But I struggle to see more than a minute of him for some reasons.
  20. There is no crowds in Hua Hin, not even during High Season now except a peak on New year and coming Chinese New year. City center is only restaurants, shopping malls between Khao Thakiab and Hua Hin. Best part of beach is south from Centara, and best Hotel is Centara. All depending on your budget and how many people, there is great facilities on beach with family rooms around and between Marked Village and bluport. If you say how many people and budget, with or without Kitchen facilities I can give you a few names. Cicada is a great marked for families.
  21. God bless you and god bless America
  22. Crazy impulsive scientists, entrepreneurs and creators should stay exactly where they are, and do what they are best at, not leading a country with warheads.
  23. And not songood to save the environment especially when there is a whole world out there who want a piece of it! I never understood this big engine thing americans love. Truck pulling, truck race and the bigger and heavier the better! Americans is Always in beast mode even in wrestling. I thought the whole wrestling thing was a joke until I came in to a bar in Zephyrhills Florida 19 years old. Mildly say I got a culture shock. Even saw my first biker babe in leather pants 45 years old with tatto on her tits! But thats another story
  24. Why Hua Hin? Check this out. Owner great guy, best breakfest in town, and close to beach and Cicada marked. Surf & Sand Resort +66 81 995 9053 https://g.co/kgs/skAcg8 Rooms have kitchen facilities and freedge.
