Iridium plugs are usually in 700b+ range each, even NGK original is like 300b, I think 100b plug is fake, watch out for those on Lazada, I had 3 months of headache probably due to a bad plug...

How to deal with old rusty motorbike?
Agusts replied to drsapparot's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Be careful selling or giving away bikes or cars, not here but any country, make sure you get a signed sale contract with buyer and a witness to sign and get the buyer's copy of ID.. What happen is some time down the road this bike/car could be involved in an accident, maybe involved in a theft or a drug dealing, or worse run over and injure or kill someone. The cctv got the number and in the computer the vehicle is in your name, get a knock on the door from BIBs...! Imagine the hassle of trying to convince them you gave it away or sold it without any proof...!? As a (rich) farang will be targeted for serious compensation... 🥴 -
Lucky for you not too pricey..., I totally forgot to mention that a few years ago I had about 3 months of idling problem that nobody could diagnose. Honda put it on computer and just about every other mechanic checked every thing, including spark plugs, battery, water in fuel, and fuel injector etc., electric etc. without any luck. Then as problem started after a service when I changed spark plug, I suspected it, and just bought another plug and after 3 months the bike idled normally again...!?!? I put it down as either the plug was faulty or they tightened it too much - the last change I specifically asked them not put all their weight on it, as Thais do...! 🙄

Don't worry, this is not Europe, nobody touch your bike here... 😊

Question on full faced helmets for women
Agusts replied to WingNut's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Try LS2 Advent X, it's a solid built modular helmet with 180° flip all the way back. It's approved to ride like open face or full face. I had it for a couple of months and it's okay for me so far... (HJC and Shark also have their own models like this, but I tried and didn't like them. HJC heavy, and Shark flimsy toy like mechanism) I has a MT Atom normal flip up before, but only flip half up, so not able to ride like that. Once down in full face mode it was okay, but it was making a howling wind noise on the left hand side where sunviser mechanism was, terrible noise at 100kph, even with earplugs....., Fortunately I mange to sell it at lower price after a few months... For me the number one issue with helmets now is noise level at 100kph, if too loud on 5 or 6 hours tour, it's only good for the bin really because nobody can bear it...! Earplugs can only do so much..., I wish we could test drive the helmets... 🙄 I don't like large windshield much, don't feel comfortable seeing through them. I have a Forza 350 now that has electric windshield, it's not bad to put it up sometimes, but prefer it down... -
Also check battery voltage, see if it changes when idling is not stable. Someone mentioned it to me when I asked about this... I'm guessing the voltage is shown on CB650 dash display......? On my Forza 350 when idling the rpm needle just very slightly (maybe 100rpm) moves up and down - at all times, cold or hot, and the battery voltage disolayed also changes about 0.1v to 0.2v. I am told the battery is weak...! I don't have other symptoms and the bike starts okay, so not tackled the issue yet..., I personally think it might be other issues too.... Never seen weak battery does this on other bikes over the years...!?

Whining/whistling sound with Honda scooter
Agusts replied to Kenchamp's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Bearing noise you might be able to hear if put it on center stand and turn the rear wheel hard enough by hand..., but not always. If noise only at high speed then not easy this way... Can ask one of the corner shops to open CVT cover, then rev it on center stand, and try to see if it's from the belt or clutch or somewhere else..., Scoopy repair and parts are so cheap though, it can't cost much ..., unless going to Honda shop...!!! 😉 -
I don't know, I would have thought losing 1 or 1.5 psi a day should generate some bubbles...!? My valves are Honda OEM still factory installed on Forza 350 Dec. 2020 (only 9000 km), although that doesn't say much, I don't rate high the Forza that Honda makes in Thailand as others call bultproof blah blah..., had terrible experience with gen 1 300 that I had for 5 years, let's see how this one pans out...! When they brought these digital air pumps a few years back I couldn't believe it, Thailand had finally moved to 21 century, made life a whole lot easier... 😅
-
I tried to find that small leak on my tubeless tyre, it needs a refill every week. I tried soapy water spray, but found nothing, checked rims, valve tyre side and body everywhere...! I think it needs one of those large water bath and a patient Thai mechanic, both very rare items here... 🙄

Specific questions about transfer of motorbike ownership
Agusts replied to kiwiaussie's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Oh, yes, I remember, when I was at DLT they said I'm missing one witness signature on POA form, I walked out and ask the first guy, Thai, if he could sign, pointing to the place, he happily signed it with a smile... I was grateful and said do you want me to sign anything for you, well, with body language, he laughed and said no need ... , that's as far as witness signature goes...! (will do it myself next time, I'm good at scribbling... 😜). -
Specific questions about transfer of motorbike ownership
Agusts replied to kiwiaussie's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
The power of attorney has a form, it has exact wording for bike transfer, just need to fill it up with bike and buyer/seller details, can get it from any DLT office or maybe online. Someone explained this signing of green book to me in details. In general there is no need for seller to sign it. I did a transfer a month ago and did it without it. However, the owner (or future seller) of any vehicle can always sign the green book (or blue for car I guess). This is like a security feature. At the time of any future transfer the signature of seller on all transfer forms will be compared to this signature on green book, if no match then no go.... However, people stopped signing because then anyone can see the signature and fake it on forms and sell any (stolen) bike with green book and copy of ID ...!? 🤔 So answer to your question, no need, don't bother... (my DLT office is Phuket, others could be different... ). -
Thai lifeguards nab American phone thief at Kata Beach
Agusts replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
The whole story sound a bit odd, drunk American steal phone on the beach, then hang around for the girl to get hold of his short like that....! Then police not press charges...!? I bet there was more to it, I bet it was the expensive phone he bought for her the week before, and before being dumped, so drinking his sorrows saw her and think, dam at least I get my present back...!!! More plausible how she was so familiar with his short...! 😜 -
Thailand has a two way tax agreement with UK, this means nobody pays tax twice, as the Thai tax rate is lower than UK, if anything, it is possible for those who are permanently living in Thailand, to claim the difference from UK tax office. Although this is theoretical, because the hell one has to go through to get any money back from a taxman, in any country, not worth the hassle at all...! 🙄. But in any case, rest assured we always pay more tax than we should, except if you're millionaires, then pay very little..., because the tax systems are always set up by rich people... !? 🤔

British Tourist Dies in Tragic Jet Ski Accident in Phuket
Agusts replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Where is this reported in Phuket News...? If it isn't, why...? Very strange... Most likely scenario is he was hit by a jetski..., otherwise riding these they almost always wear life jacket... I can imagine certain jetski rental gangs would want to suppress this news if the likely scenario above is true...!!!? Out of control water sport in Phuket is the worst thing happening to this island right now..., but too much money involved ...! -
Would that mean surface water go straight into your well now, that won't be much clean...!? (I thought surface water go through a few meters of earth will get cleaned up a bit..., not much, but some. I maybe wrong though...).

Officials in Phuket begin offshore inspection on jet skis and jet cars
Agusts replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Why don't they check the jetskis in Patong beach, they are just out of control, I'm sure not all of these are registered to operate, now hundreds of them. Hard to walk on the beach without bumping to these, or the parachute operators whistling and shouting at you to stop and let them land or take off parachute... There is zero regulation or timetable or location assignment where and how these can operate. Patong beach is basically overrun by these. Big business, if you taught tuk tuk is big underground operation, think again, it's water sport, and now they spread to all other beaches in Phuket, Surin, Kata, etc. (which are not allowed... !) Noise, smell, water and air pollution, terrible for marine life and beach goers, 90% of these jetskis don't pass inspection, if they ever get around to ever do that, why don't they...!? They complain about influx of tourists, but Phuket is destroyed by Thai greed, not visitors...! -
Motorcycle Transfer Forms PDF with English
Agusts replied to ricklev's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
You get all these agents advertising about getting licence for you on Facebook, I chat with two of them and they said 6 months before expiry is okay. I know DLT Phuket for sure accepts, but as in Thailand need to check with your local office... Bear in mind they might give you appointment for a month or two later, so could still miss it..., they told me why bother now, can do it up to 1 year after expiry, so maybe that's a better option...! -
Motorcycle Transfer Forms PDF with English
Agusts replied to ricklev's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
To answer my own question, it's 6 months before expiry that we can renew. The video is also about an hour, can do it easily on laptop or any browser on DLT eLearning website, in English, only asks 4 or 5 easy multiple questions in the middle and end, also asks for confirmation so don't leave the video... I went on DLT Smart app for Phuket it gave 2 months ahead appointment. So I went to the DLT office myself they said come back in month and half, I said I leave before then can I get an early date, no can do....! And this is just for two minutes reaction test and photo taking, we use to do this same day before Covid, now they like these busy-pretence attitude everywhere, there were not many people there at all....!!!? -

Agusts replied to ricklev's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
It says in one of the docs for renewing 5 year license we can go 6 months before expiry....!? I think on another thread I was told 3 months, anyone knows for sure which it is for Phuket office? Also I read we need to sit and watch the video now, do we have to do the 50 multiple choice test too...? I think last time I went from 2 years to 5, I just sat the reaction test - took about 45 seconds to complete...! -
Drunk driver strikes police officer in early morning Patong collision
Agusts replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Where is this Phra Metta road police check point, is that at the south end near the round about...!? -
Lifeguards actually care about swimmers on Phuket beaches...!? 🤔 That should make the news on it's own...

Russian and Israeli Motorbike Riders Arrested for Drunk Driving in Patong
Agusts replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Be honest a lot of these tourists be riding a lot slower and more carefully when drunk than sober...!!! 🤪 Leave them alone... Now car drunk drivers are far more dangerous... 🤬 -
It's nice to hear you're recovering well, and it's so good to have some help..., I doubt any of my ex-gf would even call me in such circumstances...! As for Big C I have never used those parking machines, I always buy something and then take the receipt to the girl sitting next to the machine and get free parking, I should think most people qualify for that...! I noticed mention of a lot of bars and restaurants bought and sold at fairytale prices or even operated with no clients here, this is all to do with money laundering, I've seen it in some other Banana Republic countries, even at 25% loss cleaning of illegal money is big business, cash is used for buying or as daily revenue in legal businesses and then cleaned into legal bank account, very common practice..., don't be surprised...!

Incidentally the main reason I'm upgrading to Chromecast is the use of WiFi 5GHz. But not sure if it's any good, it does not even have an antenna...! Any feedback...? My current MXQ pro box only has 2.4GHz, but even with antenna it has dreadful reception, so I hotpot off my laptop, it works but it's a bit of a pain, hence looking into Chromecast... I see somebody selling it used, but I read they can now flash any android device with built-in malware, even a factory reset won't get rid of it - hard to trust anything these days...! Saying that I haven't noticed anything unsavory on my MXQ pro for last 6 years which is suppose to be full of bad stuff, but I guess we are not supposed to notice these malware...! 🙄, I always use a separate Google account for these though ...
-
I figured all Android Chinese TV boxes are a bit vulnerable to having preloaded with malware, or extra ads bait or extra dodgy traffic behaviour, so best just go with Chromecast - has all I need. Also I don't need 4K, just HD is more than enough for me. Now these HD are reduced to just $20 in USA from $30, but the best I can find here from a reliable seller, like Banana IT is 2490b for this. It's more than 3 times...!!! (well done customs office). A bit cheaper from dodgy Lazada sellers, but I don't trust them unless they are official stores, like above... If you guys know or find any reliable place that sells these closer to their real price, let me know...!?
