  1. That's good to know...., I guess I'll be saving that 600b a year when I turn 60 then...! ????
  2. It must be new if Big Wings are selling and servicing Forza and/ADV, I was in Phuket and never seen that until early this year when I was there...! The main Phuket honda dealer, small bikes , opposite Big Wing , always sell and service Forza. And until early this year had an ADV360 up front for test drive, but that was just to ride in the parking lot, not going out - she wanted me to fill up a form and sign etc. , for even the parking lot test, so I passed... Honda charges a lot more for parts and labour of Forza, comparing to, say PCX, of course some parts are s bit bigger and more expensive, but I have compared things like clutch shoes, brake pads, rollers etc , they are not much different (part, labour), well, should not be, but the total is almost double....!? So small bike shop charges big bike prices....! ???? I now buy online and get corner shops do the work..., while I watch them like s hawk....(lol), they are expert in small scooters, and Forza and Xmax are the same mechanics, just a bit bigger...???? I have seen Honda and Yamaha bikes also fail sometimes, it's not as they say, bulletproof, nothing is, they are relatively of course better than others..., and I have seen and read dealers from both being good and bad, sometimes rip off people...., so no garauntee with any of these...., they both the same... I'm told by a friend, you can buy new model Xmax now in the shop in Phuket for 189k cash, if it was me, I wouldn't wait 3 or 7 months for Honda to mess me about, I would buy the Xmax and enjoy it, Xmax keeps it's value amazingly well, can sell later and change, no problem...., Good Luck ..????
  3. From what I remember Forza 350 and ADV 350 are sold and serviced in the small bike Honda dealers, not the Big Wing shops - but don't worry they charge you the same Big Wing prices...!!! lol ???? (I have old model Forza and have a lot of experience with them...!).
  4. Nice feedback about ADV350, as some like the wide handlebar, as it mentioned on that video too, some don't..., I think the leg position is also a bit different than Forza.... Have you tried Xmax and given that a thought....!? I'm not sure what is the waiting time on those, but it's as nippy and reliable as Forza 350, and hold it's value very well...., It has its own hardcore fans in Thailand, not as popular as Forza, but it's very similar in spec and ride....
  5. Yes, I don't think those are 1st class, but how much injury coverage do you get with yours, should be 1 mil or more.... ? That's what I'm interested in... My Forza 2016 (and yours I guess) not worth 50k (that was last year, I was quoted..., probably less now )..., not much...
  6. While all insurance experts are on this thread, I can ask about those agents selling insurance at/outside DLT office (I use Phuket office), I have usually bought the compulsory one, but they also sell a couple of more expensive options , around 1.5k to 2.5k baht , from last year I remember.... Now I don't care about my bike, it's old, but do these options cover any hospital fees for insured and other party, if found guilty...!? And by how much, does it go up to like a 0.5 or 1 mill or so baht ...? I am also always charged like 600b a year with my Bangkok Bank debit card , and they say that is accident insurance, not much , maybe 30k or 50k, but does that cover motorbike accident, has anyone ever used it ...?
  7. RISTO PIZZERIA PIT STOP https://maps.app.goo.gl/hMF1K4TrXAuGyzyv7 The guy who makes the pizza was from Myanmar last year, but he told me learned it from an Italian... ! ????
  8. For long trips out of town, and if you like cruiser style bike, Phantom will be fine, they are old but still going strong....! First test drive, make sure the clutch is not too clunky, I have test driven a few of these, and there is a world of difference depending on what condition it is in..., you need to try a few to know it..., change the oil more frequently on these...., 30k km mileage that would be really good, more like 130k km they are ... ! ? lol As mentioned driving license is not needed for registration, you need all paperwork signed by owner, make sure he also signs a power of attorney form, all in DLT office... You can do all at your province, they first change the number plate to province, then transfer it to your name..., I have done it once by myself, with correct paperwork it is easy...
  9. OP, forget about geared bike, at older age it's just waste of time and energy that we don't have a lot to waste....! I recommend just buying the standard Forza or Xmax, then ride it for a few months and see if you need a shock upgrade - very easy to do. Most people don't need it, and expensive shocks do little about street pot holes on a small wheel scooter... The rest of those extras are just cosmetics, design to extract your hard earn cash...., good luck.
  10. An old Honda CB300 if find one you can afford, will be better than any of those, otherwise the GPX twin I guess... The main problem with those bikes is vibration , going hundreds of kilometers a day, your hands go numb from it ...(been there done that) ! So twin might just be a bit better... But who knows, never buy these kind of second hand bikes unless you test drive them first , and for your purpose of long trips, make sure to take it to at least 90 or 100kph - if your tooth fillings are still intact after that, it's good to go.... Lol ???? Now as a Forza owner, I am biased, but if find an old one for say 50k baht, is possible..., it can easily take your 120kg weight to the end of the world, and back, while you feel like sitting on a sofa all the way...! ????, no vibration, no tiredness, with taller screen, not much wind, and plenty underseat room for a long trip... - and I get 330km on a tank full...!
  11. Probably will be hit by an astroid before such a scenario pan out ...! Nothing to worry about...????
  12. www.83bike.com No idea if any good, but they advertise a lot and have lots of bikes...!
  13. From all the feedbacks and reviews I read, it's only worth it if you use the bike a lot with 2 up, or you and your luggage together are on the heavy side.... I don't think you find much difference at say 70 or 80kg weight , the bumps on the road will still be felt, it's due to small tyres, not the shocks..., of course better shocks make it a "bit" better, just need to calculate that "bit"="cost" or use > or < signs to decide...????
  14. How is the supply of new ADV350 in Honda dealers in Phuket now...? Or nationwide for that matter... A friend of mine is going to Phuket and plan to buy a new one this month. I thought there was a 2 months or more waiting list for these a while ago, so not sure if he can find one so quickly...
  15. I never owned this bike, but test driven a few of these, Ninja 650, Z650 and Versys 650..., the only advice I have is don't buy any of these unless you do a good test drive, take it up to 6000 or 7000rpm, and see how it feels.... For some reason some of them are very rough, loud and vibrate like hell, and some are okay. It maybe maintenance not done to the engine on time and ruined it, or I read some front-end panels issue etc., but when you test ride a few you instantly notice it ..., stay well away from vibey ones, hard to get rid of it... Of course some people actually love the loud and vibrating engine, call it "character", but you might have different preferences like me, who knows.... ! ????
  16. You were lucky , I can imagine the damage can a 80kph accident can cause, even if one side is stationary....! I got the bike when it has 750km, almost new..., that blue light on dash LCD is gone, clutch was basically useless after 7k km, replaced with carbon aftermarket, the rear brake pad I think sticking - most Forza have this issue, design flaw probably, need new pads every few thousand km..., just last month both low beam headlight went, while high beam still working ...!!! Ok, these are all small issues, I think a Chinese bike would probably had more major problems..., but I don't like claims that Honda is so and so, every vehicle have issues, some less, since more...., only God is bulletproof...! ????
  17. I did that 5 years ago, he asked for 25b, I was so excited to have my battery back, I gave him 50b... !!! ????, that battery worked for 2 more years I think, until I sold the bike ...
  18. I was going to say, but I see you done it yourself, they just grabbed mine (I have same 2016 Forza) with a towel and twisted it by hand, pushing it up a bit..., you can also order those spanners from Lazada, not expensive... When I got my Forza first (used) , a few years ago, I was doing a bit of kamikaze riding around corners, to see it's limits and excitement of a new bike etc. (!) , scraped the center stand a few times, and generally noticed the heavy back end was very bouncy and unstable around corners. So I change the preload to max , shortest setting, it helped a bit. I understand with heavy luggage or a passenger this setting is also useful.... Don't worry about it effecting center of gravity etc. , generally it's just a small change... One of my back shocks started leaking few years ago, so changed both with the same used ones, going okay so far. Then of course the front forks leaked last year, repaired those too, and a lot of other issues, nowadays it consumes oil, bad news...! , when people say, Honda bulletproof, I laugh out loud ... ???? !
  19. I don't think we will have so many licenced pilots to fly these things, so the future of these flying objects will be autopilots only, sit and pray you get there safely...! ???? If this thing comes as scooter with underseat space, I might consider it for a supermarket run ....????
  20. So that's why they steal so many CBR1000... ????????
  21. There are a lot of NMax about, even all police bikes in Phuket are NMax, no problem with parts and service, you just need to try it and see what you like ... Aerox is also a great bike, has bigger wheels, but for carrying passenger and longer legs NMax maybe better... As for Honda, dealers in Phuket have a cartel, you find out more about this later ...!
  22. I use those small wide angle mirrors attached on both side to side mirrors, takes a bit to get used to them, but it shows the guys sneak on you in traffic.... Papa; I had those mesh covers on my old bike, the girls siting on the back with short pants or skirts cursed me so much, it had to come off..., should have seen the back of their thighs in honey comb red tattoo afterwards...!!! ????
  23. I have the same (2016) and a bit of same dilemma, should I upgrade to a Forza 350 or an Xmax ...! These are a bit better than old model gen 1 Forza, but not a huge difference, similar power and specs ...! And also these days nobody buys gen 1, the price drop is substantial due to new models...! From what you described though (wanting an auto scooter, note other posters ! ) these kind of maxi scooters really suits you best. But bear in mind the new Forza models and Xmax have higher seat and harder for shorter people than gen 1. The ADV 350 has even higher seat than those..., and from your description, you're not going on long trips and off road but shopping, so forget about that... My suggestion is get an Xmax or Forza 350 for a day rental, and then you (and missus) can decide for yourself - that's what I like to do next year when I'm back there...
