Trump on Immigration: "We need a lot of people coming in."
John Drake replied to John Drake's topic in Political Soapbox
I replied to this quote of yours: Yes, I think illegals are farm workers, and the percentage of farm workers who are illegals is approximately 42 percent, according to the USDA in the link I provided. That shouldn't be too difficult to understand. -

Bank of Thailand Boosts Mobile Security with New Transfer Limits
John Drake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The elderly are the most likely to go to hospitals, physicians, and pharmacies, where amounts quickly go over 50,000. Sorry, can't stop the bleeding because your daily transfer limit would exceed 50,000?????? -

You got him elected. You should be happy. I know the Indian H1Bs are. What you want to bet, now, you'll never hear anything about the Kennedy files, the Epstein list, and all the other stuff you were promised. Oh, yea, you got Mike Johnson officially endorsed by Trump, too. I think you're going to really get tired of winning, if this keeps up. -

Yep. Without a doubt replacing American workers with Indian H1Bs must have improved quality assurance. Just like it did for Boeing. -

I guess this is what it looks like when you've successfully pulled the wool over Maga's eyes and used them to vote for you so you don't go to prison. -

Seems these people in Austin were qualified enough to be working for Tesla, until Elon fired them all and replaced them with H1Bs. https://electrek.co/2024/12/30/tesla-replaced-laid-off-us-workers-with-foreign-workers-using-h-1b-visas-that-musk-want-to-increase/ -

Well, then you'll not object to an immigration amnesty then, because that makes it all leeegal, right? -

Trump on Immigration: "We need a lot of people coming in."

I've provided the list, and it's a long one, of all his lies, reversals, denials for years. It's what Trump does. But his supporters don't want to come to terms with the fact that the Trump they invent in their mind is not what they get in reality.- 281 replies

Interesting to see how Vivek has disappeared on this subject and tried to change tactics and subjects. Now, he's out criticizing federal regulations as the real war on the working man. Don't know about that. 40 hour work weeks and no child labor sound pretty good to me. So does a minimum wage and the right to time and a half for overtime pay. What hurts working people are 1) outsourcing jobs to cheap labor 2) importing cheap labor from India (95 percent of H1Bs come from India), and 3) allowing mushrooming immigration numbers to double and triple the costs of houses. This guy has really revealed himself. The pharma stock scam he pulled has really soured me on him. I had heard indirect references. But only with the backlash to his "lazy Americans" comments did I hear the full extent of what he pulled. Vivek should be in jail. I think he has forever marginalized himself, because of the stock scam and his criticism of American culture and Americans.

As I posted, I was an early Carter supporter and a Carter delegate to my state Democratic convention. But his performance in office turned out to be disastrous. And the one thing I see omitted from the discussion is Carter's support for the Khmer Rouge. Yes, while he was undercutting the Shah of Iran, he was supporting Pol Pot. In later years he also had good things to say about Hamas. Carter seems to have had a weakness for Islamism. ("One surprise was his support for the Khmer Rouge forces in Cambodia fighting against Vietnam's invasion, despite its terrible human rights record.[80]"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_policy_of_the_Jimmy_Carter_administration

Especially the public wifi financial use issue. I was/have been always more comfortable using my desktop for everything that involves financial payments. Can't do that now, as we're increasingly being frogmarched into using phone apps everywhere for everything. SCB in particular removed the online banking site, lots of ATMS, and at least three branch offices that used to be near me. Today, I mostly use Bangkok Bank for those reasons--has online banking, lots of ATMS, and many nearby branch locations. The point of all this being that the banks and financial outlets are forcing customers to use riskier and more vulnerable services while out and about. -
He campaigned on DACA repeatedly right until the day he reversed under the political genius and enlightened wisdom of Ivanka Trump. He did the same on opposing QE, until he got in office and started demanding the Fed goose the economy with more funny money. Then there was the "Wall," which went nowhere for more than three years until it was time to run for re-election. There was the tariff deal with China, where all Trump got was a promise form the Chinese to buy more soybeans (which they didn't do). And just recently we had Trump petitioning the Supreme Court to delay implementation of the Tik Tok ban. The ban was Trump's own idea in his first term. And now he wants to reverse it. He campaigned against H1Bs and then yesterday a report revealed he had fipflopped on it. Why does anybody trust this man?

I am and have been critical of Trump because his mind is easily changed. Don't forget the frist term, when he campaigned on cancelling the Dream Act on his first day. Instead, on his first day, I remember him going to a camera and saying no he wasn't. He lectured the press and said, "It's called DACA." And he actually proposed increasing it. Why? His daughter told him to. He holds no sincere beliefs or positions. Everything is "negotiable." And it's widely known that when a divisive issue comes under discussion that Trump usually ends up agreeing with the last person in the room. Guess who the last person in the room on the H1B debate was? Musk. Let's see what happens with GB's Lammy and the newly appointed British ambassador to Washington, both of whom insulted Trump repeatedly. I'll bet it's completely forgotten now that he's pursuing another royal state visit. There are many of Trump's positions I support. I just don't trust Trump to deliver on them.

This is the sort of thing that made Trump so eager for the presidency. He doesn't really care about doing the work of being president. He just wants the decoration, praise, and costume balls. I suspect Modi also has something in the works to invite him back to India as well. I remember when Trump turned around on his H1B opposition the first time came after Modi gave him that mass reception is some Indian sports stadium. Trump craves adulation from the Saudis as well. Any country wanting to avoid his tariffs should she give him a state visit with cheering crowds on the street.

Carter was a micromanager. It often caused him problems. I was a Carter delegate at the 1976 Texas state Democratic convention, and Carter continually involved himself in selections for things such as the state executive committee that took up hours and created division whereas had he just let the politics decide itself he wouldn't have created enemies. John Pouland was a very young unknown who came out of the blue to run Carter's primary campaign. By the time of the state convention, Dolph Briscoe and the establishment Democrats, who had all backed Lloyd Bentsen for president, were pushing out most of Carter's campaign staff who had won him the primary in Texas. JC should simply remained out of the conflict. I think it foreshadowed problems to come with his presidency.
