  1. RIP Swedish guy, hope you had a nice life. One can only hope (with that type of damage on the car) death was instantaneous, no suffering involved.
  2. Parafareno, UbonJoe is the undisputed ultimate source of knowledge on all things to do with Thai Visas, etc. If he says it will work, it will. And I surely concur. What he is suggesting is exactly what the law allows, so please don't bother with the e-visa (if it is a bother to you) and just waltz in to Thailand and get stamped with your 45 days visa exempt anytime after October 1st.
  3. I think his "immediate" transfer may have been based on the fact that the lady did make a complaint about some chinese mafia or something being after her, and then shortly after, she wound up dead. I presume the cops did no investigation into who was after her, nor provided any type of protection or help?
  4. Now, you're just being silly, saakura, it is a measure of progress FOR THAILAND, a country where the majority of people are poor, and where unfortunately the few people in power are extremely rich, by skimming off whatever funds come in from whichever channels. Secondly, IF Canada or any other "first" world country opens up visa exempt even for 1 single day, let alone 45 days, you know very well that 99.9 percent of visitors from Thailand or any other "poor" country would NEVER return.
  5. Oh I get it, you are referring to my missing the fact that 45 days exempt will be available at airports and also land ports. When they were first discussing the issue a couple months back, I seem to remember reading that the Gov't was considering the 45 days only at airports, in the news. Sorry, been so long, I can not point you to the exact news article, but anyway, my bad, I was wrong!
  6. Red, what am I missing, please? My experience tells me that the powers in Thailand are a little like school children, they keep trying new things, and generally keep the things that work, and dump the things that don't. I am sure that many visitors will be glad to get the 45 days worry free, instead of running to immigration and waste a day to extend after 30. I am fairly sure that this policy of 45 days will be extended. Let's see.
  7. Laguna 2, security almost non-existant. Similarly, common areas cleaning not up to par. And maybe my bad luck, but the 2 condos that I looked at were in bad shape, meaning damaged furniture, dirt/fungus in bathroom floor corners. My point is, that unless you are getting an amazing deal, the condo next door, Dusit Grand Park is worlds apart, in terms of not only facilities, but staff, cleanliness, etc., and I believe, is in the same price range as Laguna 2. Best of luck, whatever you decide.
  8. A friend of mine in Pattaya is having trouble getting his tourist visa changed to any other type of visa, because of a one day overstay (not his fault, but because immigration not accepting his application on due date, but telling him to come next day). Can anybody suggest a reliable visa agent in Pattaya to help him with this issue, because I think it will entail a lot of visa related stuff like perhaps a border run, another Thai visa for entry, and then also perhaps a conversion to retirement (he is 61 years old). Thank you all!
