  1. This is not new news but I recently send and email to Manila and included my bio and last four digits of SSN and told them I had not received a form 7162 yet. What to do?

They got back to me and said the forms are not going to be sent out this year because of Covid. stati

So until I hear otherwise, I am going to sit tight. Last year I printed  a form 7162 and sent it to the USA with an attached explanation stating that I had not received  a 7162 form. Never heard from them

  2. I have been waiting for a notification from Expatvac as well. I registered a few weeks ago. I cancelled my Medpark Hospital registration which was due yesterday. I didn't think it is was a good idea to drive  into Bangkok, which is a dark red zone, from Issarn for a vaccination. Coming back from Bangkok I might have had to quarantine for 2 weeks. But I am wondering when Expactvac might get in touch and confirm a time and place for a vaccination. I am starting to get a bit impatient.

  3. After renewing my visa at the Buriram Immigration Office next to the stadium, I walked over to the stadium hoping I might be able to get a vaccine or some information about making an appointment to get vaccinated but it was very chaotic with  hundreds and hundreds of people mulling about. This was a few weeks ago. I was thinking that by now the numbers of people waiting for a vaccination should be far less than when I first went a few weeks back. Has anyone gotten vaccinated at the stadium and, if so, what was your experience like. Are they still providing vaccinations at the stadium? Can you just walk in and register?

  4. MedPark Hospital on Rama 4 Road in Bangkok is giving  free AstraZeneca vaccinations in early August. I have completed the online application and received confirmation from the hospital. I don't have the link so I would imagine a google search will provide you with one.  You can sign up and reserve a time on their website. Passport is the only ID required. I have reserved  date and  time in early August.

  5. Is it possible to get any trustworthy information about the availability of vaccines at the Stadium in the amphur murang in Buriram? Are the vaccines being given on the weekends or just Mon.-Fri. What time are the vaccines being given and when is the best time to get to the stadium? What vaccines are available?

"The 400k baht only has to be in the bank for months before you apply and until your return at the end of the under consideration stamp at many offices and they want a copy of your updated bank book"

Hi Ubon Joe. In your reply to my post did you mean "for 2 months"? Sorry, I just read the the marriage extension requirements that you were good enough to send me and it states "Proof of 400K in the bank for 2  months." So I have just answered my own question. Thanks.

  7. I applied for and goet a marriage visa last year and it will expire in about three months. It was my first and I had the 400,000 Baht in the bank two months in advance. I had the bank print out the 400,000 Baht document, took it to immigration along with with my bankbook, wife's house registration, ID card and my wife.  I can't remember exactly what I else I needed but I must have had all the correct papers. Soon after, the immigration officer came to our house, took pictures, interviewed our two selected neighbors, and checked the house. The immigration official, very polite, consumed huge quantities of our carefully prepared Thai cuisine not to mention lots of my very expensive single malt scotch. All good though.

When I go to apply for another one-year extension I am wondering what I need to take. I know I will definitely need proof of the 400,00Baht in the bank two month in advance and my bankbook. No problem. Does the 400,000 Baht proof document have to be updated the day a actually apply for the visa? Would my wife have to come with me again? What other documents might they need? Is it advisable to apply for the extension a few weeks before my present visa expires? And after I get the visa, I have to keep the 400,000Baht in the bank for two more months. I am curious if they actually check that I have not touched  that 400,000 Baht.

    Thanks for your time.

  8. I retired about seven years ago after working for a Thai company. I went to the social security office in Sri Racha, as directed by a company secretary, got a bunch of money back and they then asked me if I wanted to keep my health insurance. I said yes, of course,  and they asked for a bank account that they could deduct the monthly fee from. They informed me that the heath insurance will last up to my death. I used to have an insurance card with my name, a number and my telephone number on it and it expired  a few years ago. I went to the local office to renew it but they told me they no longer issue cards. I was told that, should you need to use the insurance, you give the hospital reception your passport number and you good to go. Fortunately, I haven't had to use the insurance yet. And you are only covered by the hospitals in your province unless it is an emergency. That's what I was told anyway. Good idea to let them know your new passport number when you get one. I went to visit a Thai friend on my mine in a hospital and I asked the reception to check my name and passport number and they said I'm good and covered.

  9. Has anyone got any reliable information about vaccine availability in Buriram? Are they jabbing the natives yet? Are foreigners eligible. Any first hand info would be appreciated.

  10. I can't seem to get anywhere just trying to locate the site. I clicked onto a recommended link here but nothing about 90-day online reporting comes up. Just requirements for normal 90-day reporting but nothing directing  me to online reporting  where I can do the report online. I googled 'Thai immigration 90-day reporting' and much the same. All kinds of information about visas but nothing about 90-day reporting online. What am I missing here. I am sure there must be a proper link and I am just not seeing it. If possible, could one of you guys post a direct link. I feel really dumb asking this.

Since I will be in a 2-week quarantine when I get back to Buriram it would be really helpful if I could do my upcoming report online. This will have been my second report, my first was an in-person report the end of last January. Thanks.

  11. I am presently in Rayong-Chonburi for a week and at the end of this month will be returning to Buriram  which is where I live and which is my residence with immigration. My next 90-report is due April 29th. When I return to Buriram I will be, by all accounts, in a 2-week quarantine because Chonburi is a 'Red Zone'.  I will probably not be allowed to leave the house and get to immigration for the 90-day report. Apparently, it is too late to do my report by mail and  their online service is down/broken. What are my options.?

What paperwork is needed for the report by mail? Copy of passport, signed. The slip that was attached in my passport by immigration officials showing the date for the next 90-day report. A competed form 47 with photo. Is that about it? If I was able to get the proper documentation to immigration by tomorrow or the day after using an  overnight carrier would it still be too late I wonder?

Best hope is that covid cases drop substantially and the quarantine is lifted and I can get to immigration soon after the 29th of April. .

  12. When an American passes away and the Thai spouse get the death certificate and takes it to the American Embassy in Bangkok a translation into English is necessary. What are the Embassy's requirements for the English translation. Do they accept any translation or only translations from Embassy approved translation agencies. In this case, the translation would have to be notarized  by the embassy in order for the spouse  to claim the assets left her by the American husband in a"Trasnfer on Death" account in the USA.

  13. I did get both stimulus checks in 2020 and I Indicated as much when I  completed my tax form with TurboTax. I had no tax withheld for the 2020 tax year (I haven't had taxes withheld for many years now- I was exempt from having to pay taxes  because I lived and worked overseas). So I was surprised when they claimed I am eligible for the $1800. Probably because my AGI was very low last year- the way TurboTax computed it.  Not really expecting to get it.

    Thanks for you input.

  14. 'If I made that level of income I might see it as a moral dilemma but surely it's not fraud. It's just one of the quirky angles that were discussed as this stimulus package was in its final stages of preparation. It was recognized as a flaw but the IRS stated that they didn't have the authority to penalize taxpayers for exercising their right to wait until the last minute to file. '

I am sorry but what level of income are you referring to? I have worked most my adult life overseas so my Social security check is very small. I have accumulated a small amount of savings that I have put into some conservative mutual funds and ETF's in the USA and am able, in a good year, to use dividends from them to supplement my income.

  15. I just completed my tax returns and filed them (efile). I used TurboTax. Last year I used turboTax but was unable to file my 2019 tax forms  electronically despite having the correct AGI so requested an extension and sent the tax forms to the IRS by registered post at the local Thai post office. This was sometime in mid-September of 2020.  I got the 2 stimulus checks sent to my US bank account, direct deposit.

After having just finished my 2020 tax returns  with TurboTax (efile) they informed me that I would be getting a $1,800 tax refund from the IRS and asked me for my bank account information for the direct deposit. I am not quite sure  why I am entitled to this generous rebate or gift except that my income was very low. ( don't make much money outside of my meager monthly Social Security  check and some dividends from a few US held mutual funds and ETF's.) By the way, I am retired. TurboTax also said I should be getting a stimulus check as early as the end of this month.
