  1. I am not sure I follow despite your fine replies. I might not have explained my self very well. My Non-B( for work) expires  in 2 days. On the last day, the day it expires, I am going to exit Thailand at one of many border crossings. I might stay in Laos or Cambodia for a few days. I then plan to come back to Thailand at a border crossing and, since I am an American, I am assuming I will get a visa stamped upon arrival. I believe you can get 30 days for this visa upon arrival. I am wondering if they will deny me entry if I don't show an ongoing air ticket. Then I thought they might ask me to show that I have 20,000 Baht with me. I thought the 20,000 might be substituted for an air ticket. I don't want to buy an ongoing ticket because I don't know where I am going to next. Thanks for your replies.

  2. I am leaving Thailand for Laos for a few days and hope to return to Thailand on a tourist visa (30-day) at Muktahan border crossing Would Thai Immigration need to see an ongoing air ticket? Would having 20,000 Baht in my wallet be OK instead of a ticket. Actually, I am leaving on the last day of my Non-B visa which will expire the day I leave. But just want  a few weeks to figure out what i want to do.

  3. So if my wife files a TM 30 showing that I am staying at her house, anytime I go to another province for more than 24 hours she will have to take the 70 kilometer trip to the immigration office and give them the TM 30. But I don't have to do any reporting myself because I'll have to leave the country every 90 days in which case I'll be leaving  few days early. So I will not have been here the full 90 days. This all sounds a little bit problematic or fishy. I can't help but think that eventually immigration are going to want to know why I haven't been filing a 90-day report.

  4. I have just completed a contract in Thailand and will be going to Laos to get a Non-O visa based on marriage. I lived near the company I worked for and rented a small house . I did my 90-day reporting in the province where I worked using the address of the house I rented. My Thai wife (we are legally married) would sometimes stay with me but usually stayed in her own house in a nearby province. When I come back into Thailand with my Non-0 based on marriage, I am going to move into my wife's house on a permanent basis. Since it is my wife's house I will be living in, I am wondering if I have up to 90 days before I have to submit my first 90- report and would my wife have to accompany me with her blue book and other ID? Or  would I be required to get to the immigration office as soon as I get back into Thailand with my newly acquired Non-0 . And could I just take signed copies of my wife's ID and blue book as proof of address without her accompanying me?

  5. Our house was built many years ago upcountry. It's quite old now but land value has risen significantly since we built the house 20 years ago. I am semi-retired now and we are both living in the house. She told me no one would bother me if I wanted continue to live there in the event that she passes away before me. I was told (and don't necessarily believe it) that since we are legally married I have a right to live in the house if she should pass before me. But I cannot sell it or leave it to anyone when I die. I am not all that bothered about who gets it when I die. I guess the best thing is to update the will. When I ask my wife who she would like to leave the house to when she dies she seems  totally non committed. ( we have no kids) She said possibly one of her nieces but her relatives all live in other parts of the country and we rarely see them.

  6. In the event of my Thai wife's death (we are legally married) I was wondering what I can do with the house. I know I have a legal right to live in the house after her death but who gets it when I pass. I don't think I am allowed to sell it if I don't want to live there and I have been told I have no right to leave it to anyone.  My wife isn't too eager to leave it to anyone in her family (both parents are dead). We have a will but the house isn't included.

  7. I am moving to a new address tomorrow and have all of my documents ready for Immigration. I returned  from a short trip to the UK a few weeks ago but never submitted a TM 30 form to my Immigration office  when I arrived back. I am wondering if the Immigration office will want a TM 30 from my previous address. And if so what kind of fine might I have to pay for not providing one. They might not even ask but I would like to be prepared for any eventuality.

Is the fine usually one flat rate or a fine for every day you fail to submit the form? Thanks.

  8. When I started my laptop this morning and tried to open my files,  a popup appeared and said "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this task. Please install an app, if one is already installed. create an association in Default Apps Setting page." Video downloads seems to be OK.

Being a fairly computer illiterate baby boomer, I have no idea what this means or why I suddenly find my self unable to ope important files. Any suggestions/ advice. Thanks.

  9. I might be moving to a different condo or possibly a house. The owner of the house I talked to was totally unaware that he had to provide anything to Immigration. I told him I would need  signed copies of his deed, ID card and a rental agreement. I suspect I would have to give him a TM 30 form to fill out as well. Would there be anything else that he needs to provide immigration with and would he have to go there in person (he asked me this)

If I do move, will immigration want any documentation about my previous residence? (Sri Racha Immigration). Thanks

  10. Sorry if this has been already answered but I returned to Thailand after a trip abroad. I was expecting to do my next 90-day report 90 days after I arrived back to Thailand. I did not go to immigration with a completed TM 30 form as soon as I arrived back because I didn't know I had to. As it stands now, I am going to do my next 90-day report, due in September, as I have always done. My guess is that they will ask me for a TM 30 form and then fine me for not having one. I am wondering if I will then be subject to a fine for not having gone to Immgration with the TM 30 form just after I arrived back from my trip. What kind of fines are we talking about. My colleagues said they have never been asked for  a TM 30 form when doing their 90-day report. But this forum is starting to make me a little bit paranoid because of my possible criminal neglect regarding Immigration protocol. (I do my stuff at Sri Racha Immigration)

If you have not been asked for a TM30 report before when you returned from a trip out of the country I would not worry about it. Just because some other offices are now asking for it does not mean your office has changed.

Si Racha don't tell you in advance that you need to file a TM30 on your return from a trip out of the country unless you specifically ask them, but, if you ask they will tell you they do require it.

After asking, when I returned from a month in the UK last year I went to file my TM30 and had no problem, but there were a lot of people, who were there at the same time, being fined for non/late filing.

I know of two other people who have been told/done the same a Si Racha.

So does this mean that if I haven't asked them I don't have to file the TM 30. I think I will wait til my next 90-day report. If they tell me I should have filed the TM 30 when I returned from my holiday, what might the fine be for not complying with the rule. And what if I move to a new apartment/house before the 90-day report is due.

  12. I have recently returned to Thailand after a 3-week holiday in the UK. I have  a Non-B visa for work. I was told that when I return to Thailand, I have 90 days to file my 90-day report. With all this discussion about TM 30 forms, I am wondering if the Sir Racha Immigration office will demand one of these forms when I do my next 90-day report or should I have already gone to the office just after I arrived back and submitted the TM 30 form.

  13. After I was made redundant a year ago I was asked at the local government social services office if I wanted to keep my government health insurance, the one that i was covered under while I was working. I asked what was involved and they said they wanted  a Thai bank account number and they would then deduct about 450 Baht a month for the insurance. I was given a card with my name my name  on it and the expiration date which was one year from that day. They assured me that the insurance covered everything, up until I die. I went to the office to renew the card and they told me the card is no longer used. I can just use my passport. I am wondering if this insurance will satisfy the upcoming "Immigration mandatory insurance for foreigners' should I apply for an AO Visa.
