Covid rampant, but that's OK cos its omicron, but entertainment venues have to open under mindless rules?
Welcome to Thailand folks.

Do you mean pre covid because there is no post covid for the foreseeable future . Whatever they decide I hope the Russians stay away ....

I went to the canary Islands for 4 weeks, in Jan/Feb...booked again to go next week for a fortnight,
I went for a week last autumn and I was bored silly...the most exciting thing I found was a new flavour in the frozen yogurt shop...and I was cold too. I went back to Thailand in November for a month and did the same again last month ... I'm booked again for May.....

Any sane person would get tested before leaving home because it might help you not fall into the trap of being scammed for a quarantine after arrival if testing positive ... richer Thais are not eejits... this is money from heaven ... must be a quota of positive tests per day to keep the money tree in bloom ...

Don't try to be logical about this . The only reason the test on arrival and one night stay at a high price and the chance that if you are positive you go into quarantine at a high cost or a private hospital at a higher cost is because there are influential people classed as Thailand's Elite who have invested in this profitable process ....making huge suns of money from it, including the government .... government meaning individual members of same.

It's getting a name for itself. Becoming well known and famous.
Having a recent killing, now this incident. It's only early days too, the venue opened not too long ago, not a lot of business with covid recent shutdowns.
There is sure to be lots of activities for the tourists when they arrive.
Looking at the set up as I passed several times you need a firm optimistic personality to enter the crowded arena that is TreeTown ...I'd say you would pick up a dose of covid quicker than a lady ... well maybe ...

Payback for the endless robbery of tourists that goes on daily in Phuket.

Your post sounds a bit cruel, but perhaps I am getting the wrong end of the stick.
Why not just leave them be until there is an agreement between Thailand and the Russian Federation as to what should be done?
If they have no access to funds they are not wanted in Thailand .

The usual whining, whinging, variations of negativity by armchair nabobs, again. It never ends here. Just returned from a one month lovely stay Bangkok facilitated by the intelligent design of Thailand Pass. Was very encouraged by the methods employed to monitor Covid infections regards the safety all.. The city showed daily growing signs of recovery of businesses and night life. Vibrant and you want for nothing. God bless the governments of the world, including Thailand, that have grappled with the pandemic, protected their citizenry and others as best they could from Covid infections and it's consequences. And to hell with the foaming at the mouth know nothings spouting their ignorance and simpleton rants, trying to tear them down.
How much were you paid ....lol

Absolutely convinced that it's a money grab for the privileged class ... Worst part is I think they could even be falsifying tests in order to gouge the tourist victims ... insisting on private hospitalisation with the mild symptoms of the current covid strain can only be attributed to a scam... Glad I got home this week before testing positive ... I have had worse colds in my time ...Disgusting bunch of criminals in charge of a beautiful country ... so sad .

Oh dear ! What a piece ! You seem to be under the impression that Asean Now is a real news site rather than a copy and paste reports that invite comedic responses and provide entertainment to bored subscribers. Without the comments ... especially the whining and criticism of all thing Thai...the the whole project would be useless . The comments entertain, annoy, infuriate , and generally amuse the readers and the commentators.
Try to lighten up a wee bit... there's nothing going on here that is going to make a difference to anything Thai. -

The idea that covid-19 positive incoming tourists could contribute anything more than a drop in the bucket compared to local transmissions does not stand up to any logical examination. World Bank said Thailand is in a significant plastic waste crisis
in Thailand News Headlines
Posted
You have to be very quick to stop the 7Elevens adding plastic spoons or knives and forks and straws to your purchases . Free plastic bags are back too... remember how strict they were when the ban was first introduced ...
the rats outside the 7/11 opposite my hotel are busy at night carrying loot from the trash bags, left outside by the staff , to their nests down the drains . 5 huge barrels of mixed waste are collected during the night from outside the hotel ... someone said the bin men sort through them and separate the recycle waste... they do not ... I happened to look out my balcony as they were collecting one night.
There's no real interest in addressing the problem ... same with the cracked and dangerous footpaths ...if there is a footpath ....I saw a blind man trying to negotiate Soi Bukahao in Pattaya ...it was agonising to watch for me , never mind the difficulty for the unsighted man .
