Where did you stay and what month did you arrive ?

Arrived 25th October in Phuket ... ( sandbox was still in operation and hotel and tests booked and paid ) after being "released" from Phuket I went to Pattaya for 3 weeks.... same as I have done for years . It was almost sad to walk around at night ... even got food poisoning because lack of customers everywhere meant you could be unlucky... actually thought of shortening the trip but the change of flights was too expensive . Left for home on 23rd November. First time I was ever glad to be home to the cold !
maybe better now but I don't think the old Pattaya is coming back soon.

Social distancing may take a whole new meaning with Omicron. Two people staying in a Hong Kong quarantine hotel in separate rooms contracted the Omicron variant. They never left their room (as per CCTV recordings), nor had in contact at anytime, so they suspect it happened during food deliveries.

    I say let's make it 20 meters! ????

May I order an Omicron Pizza please !

  3. The world is restricting travel and making it more difficult to travel. .Thailand will now do the opposite. Ease entry from US , and for Brits, with their massive daily covid figures ..

i can't criticise them because I don't know the answers to this conundrum. Let them in ? Keep them out ? Damned if they do and damned if they don't .

Ive just returned from a month's holiday in Phuket and Pattaya . Glad to get home to be honest . Nothing like "normal" and I have cancelled my next trip planned for January ...

Yes and the sex industry of course

Quote today from Pattaya News ...."Colonel Maykawit warned that police would be strict over the weekend in ensuring people were not drinking alcohol in public places and that no illegal acts like prostitution were taking place in “family-friendly” Pattaya. TPN media notes that these “roundups” of what is reportedly fairly common behaviors in the area traditionally happen before major festivals and events expected to bring in out-of-town tourists and also often include moving homeless people away from festivals and visible areas."

There are no restrictions at all on individuals' private consumption of alcohol, i.e. you can buy as much as you like and drink as much as you like, whenever you want.

There's a trick to enjoying that... you face a different wall in your room each day when you have a drink to make it more interesting .... God you are naive .....

I've been thinking for a while watching and listening to all this unfold, is that they've got it in for the backpacker masses. Less so the 'middle income' types like me.

I really think it's the backpackers they're targeting.

They have it in for Pattaya too.... will not all the bars to open.... attract the wrong kind .... just been there and it's miserable ....

  7. Just returned after a 4 week holiday . I was a regular 4 weeker 4 times a year before the Covid and had a mad urge to get back.

it was the most depressing experience of recent years and I longed for my departure date from Thailand to get home even to the point of trying to get home early but my fare rules made that too expensive. Every day was like a month I was so bored and going out was even more depressing looking at the empty streets and closed businesses ...Being told to finish up my Big Mac quickly as we are closing at 9 pm left me sitting on the kerbside of a deserted dark Main Street sipping my Coke...

I arrived home last night and really never want to see the place again , the way I feel right now.
Oh , also , so many Thai Smiles, I jest.... don't think I've ever been subjected to as many attempts to rip me off as this time... they must have thought I was a tourist..... lol....
