  1. Me too. But my kids grew up in Australia, where, mostly, swimming is taught at school. But also by Dad in our home pool (fenced and locked) when they were very young. They weren't perfect swimmers as tiny youngsters, but could get to the edge of the pool and hold on. But always supervised until later when they were strong swimmers. You can sit and enjoy a glass of wine poolside as easily as inside. Very sad, and avoidable loss
  2. I certainly would not think that either of these is a "Digital Passport ". A total misnomer. One just says "vaccinated" and the other just a copy of the Certificate of Vaccination. I don't think that traveling to many destinations (overseas ) the former would count for anything, the latter (certificate with all the details ) might ???
  3. Yes I agree. Have screenshots of all, but the Green "Vaccinated" page only says that...the vaccines and the dates, but NOT your name (or passport number), That one could be produced by anyone....it's not identifying ! The Vaccination Certificate is identical to what Medpark gave me when I left. Full details.
  4. Same in my part of Pathum Thani, which I think is still classified dark red.
  5. Just love your "Singapore lite" description. Have lived in both for years (now Thailand ). Remember my Malaysian work friends saying that "at least in Malaysia you can walk on the grass without being fined"????????
  6. Oh page 11. Nobody will read this, but just by comparison, I went and worked in Hong Kong for a government department for 20 yrs. On arrival, a "working Visa " but no expiry date. Brought Thai GF over many times until immigration finally told me " sorry Sir but we don't have a gf visa, you'll have to marry her if you want her to stay. Also very polite and respectful IO there compared to here. So did. And for both of us after 7yrs living there applied for and both got permanent HKID cards......forever. (Think I have to return every 3 yrs, even for a touch and go). NO immigration visits, no 90 days, no photos etc,etc....like here. Can work and own property.....no problems. Cheap travel, reasonable food costs, booze etc. Nice beaches on the many outlying islands. Yes the CCP have made it hard for protesters, but life goes on pretty much normally. Point is, after 7 years, a few declarations on a 2hr visit and you're in. Don't have to read or speak Chinese. Btw, I'm living here in Bangkok since full Retirement (marriage extension ) but can go back to HK anytime (with quarantine of course as Thailand is classified Dangerous )
  7. My wife's double Pfizer vaccination certificate....done in Hong Kong...is in both Chinese and English. The English being quite clear and specific as to her identity, dates of vaccination and vaccine used. Should work ok
  8. Every airline has SOPs for their flight crews, but these can vary quite a bit from airline to airline. To (try to) apply the same SOPs here to every province will be interesting.
  9. When the final "Certificate" I said to them I can put this on Mor Phrom (which I had installed already and it showed the first vaccination. She was about to direct me to a dedicated desk where people could download and fill in the data. But I said thanks but already have it. But at least they were set up to assist anyone who didn't know what to do. That evening I opened the app and sure enough, all the records and downloadable Green electronic certificate. Great job.
  10. No problems or mistakes on mine. Everything recorded accurately. They made me check it before I left.
  11. Yes. Full certificate printed out on A4 but will try the Mor Phom app tomorrow (already registered) and see if I can get the electronic version.
  12. Went for my second Pfizer vaccine today. (70yrs old) Medpark almost empty. About a dozen or less getting vaccinated. Was in and out in about an hour. As usual, very efficient and polite. Many thanks to the sponsors /donating countries (USA?) for this opportunity.
  13. No idea of course what they did. Small local veterinary clinic (now closed I think). She doesn't really display full on "heat " behavior, just once every 2 or 3 weeks goes off with the boys for a night or 2. No big deal. And unlike the originator of this thread, the odd male calling by every few weeks doesn't bother me. No cat screaming or wild fights, just nosing around like a farang in Soi Cowboy.
  14. Could be, or maybe some remnant ovary left behind inside. Was surprised when she started attracting a make or 2 after this operation. I found her as a tiny, abandoned alley cat kitten, but the only one of 5 displaying the colorings of a "pure" siamese (phenotype ?) in the litter. Maybe it's a case of you can take the cat out of the alley, but not the alley out of the cat ????
  15. Well I took her home from the vet and she was totally knocked out and a few stitches in the right location. So maybe the term spayed is incorrect. But in 6 yrs,and many "boyfriends later, she hasn't got pregnant.....unusual for Thai females I admit !!
  16. Thanks for the update. I'm going for 2nd jab next Monday 13th......lucky 13th. As I have a car and driver taking me there, waiting and taking me home again, it might be a pain if it's anything like your experience. But we're used to waiting at immigration, banks, amphurs etc so I'll take a book just in case ????
  17. To quote Winston Churchill (who loved his pigs) "Dogs look up to you, cats look down on you and pigs stare you straight in the eye" My seal point Siamese cat has been spayed so she can't have kittens, but still comes on heat ,so the horny males (just a couple here) come around still.
  18. Typical ! You never can tell. i was once asked for my birth certificate ! Luckily I carried a copy in the huge satchel of Extension junk which I take along to every annual extension. The takeaway.....take everything you can think of, plus copies!!
  19. I sat behind an 11yo nephew to watch an online "lesson" the other morning. I asked him "what is this lesson?"......he didn't understand the question, so his mother piped up "it's an English lesson" Well the teacher was a Male Thai and I couldn't understand a word he was saying! (Albeit cast on a smartphone) Ive lived in SE Asia and East Asia for decades and very used to listening to weird accents speaking English. But this guy was a shocker.
  20. I bought a few good quality, white masks which are quite thick and very tight nose and face fitting. I rotate these by leaving them soaking in a fairly strong beach/water mix overnight. Put out to dry the next day. Pretty sure the bleach kills most any virus or bacteria. The bottle of bleach costs next to nothing. Just an idea.
  21. It's like watching various football games with various umpires. All the game rules are clearly written down, yet individual umpires will rule differently in numerous games, depending on how they "see"it or interpret the rules. Teams can win or lose on one umpire's ruling. No different with IO's here
  22. One person (forget who) was quoted as saying "Regret is the stack of novels that I never got time to read" .....presumably on his death bed !
  23. As I've mentioned in previous threads, my wife works in a Thai restaurant group in Hong Kong...which is pretty strict...but now have abandoned limited in~dining numbers, serve alchohol etc BUT all staff must be fully vaccinated (free). Customers ? No proof of vaccination. And they're packed every day and NO outbreaks of covid. During the quiet, restrictive times months ago, the Gov paid owners 50%of their staff's wages so that they could retain staff and staff could live. Not so generous here!
  24. China of about 1.5 billion people is basically cashless. Alipay etc everywhere, face recognition etc. Nobody pays with cash.
