3 good news events for a Change
orchidfan replied to orchidfan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well, to apply in person would have meant making an appointment months in advance (as another member has stated here). This was impractical with future travel this year. Also, it was never suggested in emails from Oz Embassy that I needed to come in person or use any "suggested" photo shop. I can't imagine anything nearby to Fort Oz !! Only suggestion was to just email them the jpeg photo file. But I got new photos done...only B100. Can't imagine the Embassy can/could get much cut out of that??? -

Yes "frozen" in a sense that it restricted me to ONLY depositing. Not able to withdraw or transfer out. My Oz pension is paid into this (Westpac) account (they won't pay it into any overseas account ) so I needed to settle this quickly to be able to use WISE As I said, a quick phone call to your bank's tax residency section (their number is usually provided.on the letter you get )should fix it. Worked for me....less than a 5 minute call. -

Good advice. I think doing it at the airport with pre~filled form and photo is by far the easiest ......especially into a new passport as you noted. Ps. Due to the brief PP photos interruption I had getting this new PP, I now have over a dozen pp photos. All perfectly acceptable to Thai Immigration ???? -

My real full Thai address is soooooo long that I use an abbreviated one showing house number, moo baan name and local district (Rangsit, Not Thanyaburi ) . Most (99%) mail gets to my house, plus I tip the EMS delivery guy(s) well. Also, I changed most of my bills to Ebills, received by email. Much easier! -

Yes, the EMS method is quick, cheap (B45 I recall) and by tracking number you Know it has been delivered (Thai Post App on your phone) . Ozy banks.....yes I went through the "Proof of Identity " and "are you a tax resident of another country " crap a little while ago. Needed a notorised copy of my passport done by the Embassy in Bangkok (B1700) and sent EMS to them. All finally accepted and my account "unfrozen" The "Tax residency " query answered in a quick phone call to their Overseas Tax team. Asked "are you a tax resident of a country outside of Australia ?" Answer NO. Thank you sir, that's all we need to know!!! -

I filled in the printed off application and attached the 2 OP photos and sent it be EMS the the Oz Embassy (Includind a self addressed big envelope ). From memory, this is the preferred (and only???) method at the Oz Embassy. My new passport came back home to me by EMS also. So has to stay around waiting for the EMS posture to arrive.....who luckily called me on my mobile to say " I am EMS postman, come your house now". I gave him a nice tip for his efforts. -

I need one too for travel next month but will use the new PP and get it at Swampy prior to Immigration. There was an American guy just ahead of me at IO submitting papers for a reentry permit and he was still waiting outside when I left Earlier and quicker at the airport ! -

I did mark "Very Satisfied" on the TM47 post submission survey.... maybe that helps???? -
Living Pathum Thani : 1. New Oz Passport Despite numerous warnings of LONG delays (given by the Embassy in good faith), from the initial submission for a new Passport and 2 photo rejections ( By Passport Office Aus ?), the new passport arrived at my house in under 3 weeks. Much assistance and help provided QUICKLY (email) by the "Consular Team" at Aus Embassy Bangkok! 2. 90 Day Report: I did my last one online last Saturday and, despite there being a public holiday on the Monday, "Approved" email arrived on Tuesday afternoon. Well done PT Immigration. 3. Transfer of stamps from old to new PP I went to PT Imm office (arriving 1330hrs) and submitted ( at the triage station !!)the 2 passports and documents as listed on the back of the "Request for transfer of stamps" form. She took them, checked them and left her booth for 5 - 10 minutes (Queue forming behind me not impressed!!). She returned with photocopies of numerous other "stamped" pages from my old PP. No explanation. Waited outside ( as directed) for about 35 minutes and another staff lady came out, found me and returned both passports. " all done Sir"..................NO charge!! Well Done all three????

His is the only weird thing I have come acrour there in many years. Naturally I have a "registered" TM30 (screenshot) and take that to extension applications . Even get a nice little blue receipt stating that I have notified my (change) of address. Haven't moved since we built in 2008!
-
Me too. Only a week or two prior to extension expiry date. As I've stated elsewhere, never had any "surprises" except their "new" system of having to fill out a TM28, despite no change of address ! Their idea of updating TM30 data.

No. The predicted track after Luzon was north east brushing past Taiwan and, more correctly, towards Japan and the island string SW of Japan -
Thailand Braces for Increased Rainfall as Typhoon Mawar Approaches

According to the Hong Kong BOM#, MAWAR is tracking east of the Philippines before bending NE towards Taiwan Doubt that Thailand will get much rain from it. !! #their tracking and forecasting of typhoons is excellent......20 years living/working in HK has taught me. -

Marriage extension...Immigration Home Visit
orchidfan replied to wondra's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As I said, the post was specifically titled "Marriage Extension....home visits". Absolutely nothing to do with Retirement extensions......or agents. If the OP wants to change to a Retirement extension then that's up to him. I reiterate my earlier comment that "agents" are worthless for Marriage extensions. By the way I have never had, in over dozen marriage extensions, an significant "running around" by Immigration and do get a house visit every year. No big deal! -
Marriage extension...Immigration Home Visit

It's an extension based on marriage Don't think "agents" are if any use in this situation !!! -
Problem with issuing of Marriage Visa
orchidfan replied to Southy65's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Pathum Thani IO, in my case, ALWAYS say to call them before coming to the office. They staple their phone number beneath the "under consideration" stamp. And when I call on or about the stamped date, they respond with "your application is/is not yet approved. Call again tomorrow " -
Here is a strange twist to this thread. My one and only TM30 submitted was submitted by me online years ago using our house address and me as "occupier". All I have is a screenshot photo from my PC, printed out. BUT, for the last 2 or 3 annual extensions, Immigration (Pathum Thani) have made me fill out a TM28 "Change of address " form. The first time I queried "why"?? Same address since 2008! Answer: "New procedure " So each time now I'm issued with an official receipt (mostly in Thai) stating that I have notified them of my "change of address" They never ask for or look at my old TM30 screenshot ! I think it is their weird way of "updating" that my address has not changed. 90 day online reports seem to go through ok....although often taking a few days to get the magic reply. So, as has been stated hundreds of times, every office has their own quirky ways

British tourist smashes up Bangkok 7-Eleven (video)
orchidfan replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Their tills automatically shut down for alcohol drinks exactly at 2pm. A screen appears on the till monitor reinforcing that its 2pm and NO alcohol sales. The staff have nothing to do with it or control over it. Glad you didn't have a fit !!! -
Thai Central Bank tightens up measures to protect bank customers
orchidfan replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There is not a single Thai that I know, including wife of 20yrs, all her family, friends and neighbors who have ANY idea what April Fools day means....to we westerners/foreigners. I doubt the Governor of the BOT does. And for those who commented about "most banks ", BBL refunded ALL of the B18000+ illegally deducted from my account a few years ago (that time when thousands of local customers got hit). No complaints. -

Or the "Live chat" you can have on a bank or airline website which NEVER provides anything other than standard one or 2 line autogenerated "answers" to the most regularly (moronic) asked questions But 99% never anything exactly related to.your query ! Pathetic !
