  1. As per the thread title can spouse of foreign retiree (already on 12 month extension of stay) and who is in Thailand on tourist visa convert to Non Imm O in country with a view to also getting 1 year extension of stay based on dependence.  Or do they have to leave and get a non O outside and then return to do the extension.

    Thanks

At which office would you be applying for a extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon retirement?

For Phuket there is a topic on the Phuket forum with a list.

Basic list is a completed TM7 form with a 4 X 6 cm photo attached. Copies of your passport photo page, visa, entry stamp, previous extension stamp (if any) and TM6 departure card.

After that it depends upon what financial proof you are using.

Ubonjoe, do you have the doc requirements checklist for Pattaya assuming the 800 k method...thanks!

So do you think TV is a legal service?

There are TV members who are quite knowledgable about such subjects, however would they know a specific and totally correct answer to '5 years ago'?

I also suggest to you beware of the armchair lawyer brigade who give answers which are their opinions and not necessarily a legally binding answer.

I notice nobody else has answered your post.

Thanks, I'll pass your helpful advice on!

  4. It's all to do with the mosquito's flapping their wings.....the more they bite and consume blood, the heavier they get, generating even more heat through additional wings flapping......then there is the Mosquito effect, a variant of the Butterfly Effect, but better to save that for another thread.

If you're alone for the day trip, take the bus from Jomtien to the airport.

With 2 it may be worthwile to use the airport parking (250 baht per day)

Otherwise follow the advise from the other posters

No I specifically mentioned driving, as I need the car.  If I wanted the bus, I would have mentioned. But thanks anyway.

  6. A bit of a tricky one here.  If the 800k THB equivalent is held in a Thai bank in foreign currency over 60 days, do they only use the exchange rate on the day of the 1 year extension to calculate the THB equivalent.

Or, do they check that the THB equivalent is above 800K for every one of the 60 days seasoning period or do they use an average.

For example on Day 1 of seasoning, THB equivalent of Euro deposit is 810k THB, but during the 60 day seasoning period the THB goes up and down.  On day 20 it drops below 800k equivalent but is topped up and then by day 60 the balance is back over 800K.

In other words, do they look at the balance every single day?

I wrote it the way I did since the OP is already on an extensions.

It is possible to get a single entry non-o visa without the spouse already being on the extension. But those are normally done same time the one that is going apply for the extension applies for their non-o visa.

I suggest your spouse contact the embassy or consulate where they would be applying to find out if they would do it with you on a non-o visa.

They would need your marriage certificate and copies of your passport photo page, visa and entry stamp.

    Ok, thank you

He will need a non-o visa entry to apply for an extension as your dependent. He would  need to get it a nearby embassy or consulate.

He will need his birth certificate plus a copy, copies of your passport photo page and extension of stay stamp to apply for a single entry non-o visa.

To apply for the dependent extension his birth certificate will need to be legalized by the NZ embassy or the NZ government. That and copy plus copies of your passport would be needed.

They should give a full one year extension since the age limit is only to apply for the extension.

UJ,  just to clarify, could a dependent spouse currently overseas apply for their 90 day visa during the initial 90 day non-O visa for a retired spouse who is already in Thailand (but before the 1 year extension of stay has been acquired).  For example, if a retiree has a non-O, and after 30 days of being on this visa in Thailand, could the spouse apply for their 90 day non-imm O dependent, or do they have to wait until the extension has been granted to the retired spouse already in Thailand(a bit confused from your wording above which seems to imply after the extension of stay phase only?)  If the dependent spouse can indeed apply, then the 90 day expiry dates would not match up, so how would the respective extensions be handled?

Thanks and sorry for the detailed question.

    Nothing more is needed.

    Hello,

Does the income letter from the embassy have to state a monthly or annualized amount?  If not a pension amount, how should the income be described...as "general income"? Is a plane ticket out of Thailand required to get the visa and to enter at Don Mueang?  Is it required to carry 20k baht into country when arriving?

    Sorry for the extra questions!

I think it was 50 ringit to take care of "hotel booking", and another 50 for "flight out of Thailand". Cant remember total cost though (would need to add visa cost + small "processing fee"). Yes, got the visa eventhough i had nothing with me. Jim always delivers. Its the hassle free way of getting a SETV in Thailand right now.

I agree regarding Vientiane. Been there 4 times already..seen everything. Penang def better, nice also to be able to fly directly to destination with no visa required. Fast and easy. Air asia flight, drop your passport the evening of arrival (Jim is open til really late), you get your passport back 2 days after at 2 pm.

Do you have Jim contact info...thanks

You will need proof of 800k baht in the bank or proof of 65k baht income or both totaling 800k baht.

If using the money in bank option you will need proof you are retired. A income letter from you embassy showing any proof of income will be accepted for that.

You will need a copy of your passport photo page and a completed application form (download http://www.thaiembassy.org/penang/contents/files/services-20161027-173245-315830.pdf ).

The fee for the visa will be 300 MYR.

You apply for the visa the morning of one day by 11:30 and pickup the next afternoon between 2 and 4 pm.

The big advantage of using an agent is that you do not need to make trips to the consulate.

Where will you be flying from? Selection of flights would be based upon arriving and departing to be able to apply and pickup your passport.

Others will be able to help with hotel suggestions.

UJ, is there any need to show rental agreements or any other docs...would hate to get there and be missing something!

    Thanks
