Thailand Extends Visa-Free Visits for Russian Tourists
Kalasin Jo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Probably because EU countries which are members of the Schengen zone plus the UK and the Irish Republic do not offer Thais any form of visa exempt status. So the scumbags as you put it from these countries are lucky to get 30 day visa exempt status here. -
Exactly. Me too. Gets things done without hassle. This was at the old Sakon Nakhon IO before the Kalasin IO opened. At SN " tea money " of small amounts were pretty much obligatory back then. Despite the signs on the wall clearly forbidding the practice. Always done with a smile of course. But this was not overtly one and I genuinely thought it was a fee, 900 baht I think, for the stamp transfer service and I recall he even gave me change for the 1,000 baht note I handed over.

But for me scrambled eggs nearly always come overcooked and rubbery. So I go with the fried whether not done enough or burnt round the edges

Danish danger on Thai island: Illegal firearms arrest on Koh Samui
Kalasin Jo replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Indeed this is so. My wife's father, reported anonymously, had an unregistered revolver, very old, and a few bullets bought " down the pub". He showed it to me saying it was to protect the family from nutters. Well after being reported he was arrested in a dawn raid by 2 local plod and the weapon and bullets confiscated. Much panic as the penalties were read to him. A case file was started and I believe he attended court a couple of times. But then nothing more so I assume he got a rap across the knuckles and a small fine. Quite a few years ago.. Of course he had no idea guns have to be registered in Thailand which from my research at the time seemed quite straightforward to do with only a small fee. -
Dee money slooooow
Kalasin Jo replied to bradiston's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It's all there in their t&c's. A Thai bank wouldn't do any better. I've had them miss their next day commitment without the 4pm and weekend issues getting in the way. They said it was a problem with their fintech partner in the receiving country ( not the final destination which like you was Wise). Offered me my next transfer without fee to compensate. Which they honoured. -
Norwegian man murders his Thai boyfriend in Chiang Mai

From what I hear he and his coalition government are not popular. No surprise there, the Thai voters didn't vote for him. It doesn't matter whether this is achievable or if it is, the complex knock on effects others here have highlighted. At this point what matters is the up front appeal to the disgruntled masses.

TM30 question when taking a holiday
Kalasin Jo replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Nothing is certain when it comes to Thailand, especially Immigration. Each office, even officer will have their own interpretation on everything. Kalasin IO advised me that I can go and stay temporarily anywhere in Thailand, I can leave the country and return as long as I do so with a re entry permit. No TM30 necessary. They said what matters is the visa you came in on, or obtained in country after entering visa exempt, and extensions from it. Those must be continuous to keep the address where you live here registered. If you leave and allow your permission to stay to expire or it is cancelled by leaving without a re entry permit you will be coming in to Thailand with a new visa and then a new TM30 needs to be done. If you move to a new permanent address in Thailand whether in the same province or elsewhere then a new TM 30 must be done. Indeed I have taken holidays elsewhere in Thailand and I have left and returned with re entry permit and still been able to do subsequent 90 day reports online and even online they send me a downloadable confirmation and notice of the next reporting date. To me that seems logical and a surprisingly sensible approach! But it's only one of many IOs. And if the line up there changes so might that approach. I last re entered Thailand in August and have just renewed my extension of stay for another year with accompanying notice that my next 90 day report will be due late in December. We shall see if that report is accepted if I have taken a holiday here or in another country before then. -
Yes. I've done it more than once without problem. Registration with Dee took a bit of back and forth and a day or 3 for approval. They promise next day except week ends and holidays if you set up the transfer before I think midday but they failed twice. They gave me the next transfer free in compensation. I've also used Bangkok Bank's international transfer service, which also requires registration but was approved same day. Again I think money arrived within 24 hours. A different charging structure so you need to consider which is cheaper: that depends on the amount being sent and the exchange rate offered.

It's not a witch hunt if any of this sticks. But one can't help suspecting he has as many enemies in the high ups as he does friends. He was certainly very vocal on Amarin last night and appeared confident and unfazed, almost relishing the media attention. I have no idea what he actually said though
