  1. Yes indeed. Always there are rules but a " get out" for any IO. In the case of requiring a regular TM30 filing when the regulations clearly state that is no longer required unless you have moved permanently to another address in Thailand and are on extensions of permission to stay at the address initially reported so this is just making life a little more difficult for the foreigner for the sake of it. And what gets me is that it is not the foreigner's obligation yet the foreigner won't get any immigration service until it is done and a fine paid. Annual home visits too just make life a little more trying for the sake of it.. And yes I do get that Immigration may need now and then to satisfy themselves one is genuinely living with your spouse where it has been reported you are living. But home visits on a retirement visa???
  2. I got bitten in the sole of my foot by one of these centipedes, Went very red, swollen in a matter of minutes and was excruciatingly painful. Like you the worst of it lasted a couple of hours, the next day almost normal. I steer well clear now if I see one. My Thai family were unmoved by my discomfort but did say no need for nurse or doctor. I will feel better soon. No worries then! Have a nice cold beer and stop moaning.
  3. PEA have their own official app with useful data on historical usage, current bill and payment history as well as an online payment portal. Once I'd downloaded it from Play store ( as with many apps here eg Immigration you need to be using Google Thailand to do that) and set it up it's easy to use even from Europe as long as you are registered with a Thai mobile number with PEA and your Thai bank. The bank will send you a one time password to that number to complete the transaction so that number's SIM needs to be on and have reception.
  4. Ah... illegal gambling, and a gambling addicted wife, is at the root of this sorry saga. Probably in grubby but well organised " casinos" in the sticks, where they abound, even at funeral parties. The plod rarely do anything about them. Why not? (rhetorical question). 1 million baht can be lost in just a few weeks and then the debts to loansharks multiply and go unpaid. He went too far in the heat of their last argument of probably many because he was watching his and her future going rapidly down the drain. Now it certainly has for them both. I feel sorry for him.
  5. My wife was slim. No longer!
  6. Yes you are right OP. It seems to me too that it became ' a thing' around 2017 and is now an essential thing. Without it it seems Immigration won't talk to you let alone issue you an extension. Then if you have succeeded in getting it done they fine you for being late. Previously never an issue. What makes it so tiresome is that we are not the ones responsible for doing it and those who are may be unwilling to do it. So why are we the ones expected to ensure it's done and have to pay any fine?
  7. Why would it be invalidated? That doesn't make sense to me. You have your extension of stay stamp plus a re -entry stamp which is for use when returning not leaving. I can only assume the automatic system does not recognise a re entry stamp and so automatically cancels your permission to stay.
  8. It's sad but it happens in any country, in any hospital, from time to time. Investigation in to whether there was malpractice or a negligent misdiagnosis and follow up can be complex especially with aneurisms. The disabilities are not identified but the lady is lucky to be alive. Even starting with a correct diagnosis and best clinical follow up the outcome for the patient is in the balance.
  9. Indeed. Not all children are innocent angels. In any country. This teacher may or may not be guilty. He may be a predator and should be locked up or he may be a victim . At this stage he has been arrested and may or may not be charged. In the UK teachers so accused are of course suspended, in consequence their lives are made hell, their families lives too. I'm sure it's no different here. If subsequently the charges are dropped or the teacher is acquitted it is too late for them and their families, the damage is done. It's also not unknown for children to gang up and bully and torment their peers with lies on social media with devastating consequences for the tormented one.
  10. Thank you. Very helpful. And as I understood from my own research you confirm the Thailand/UK DTA does not cover the British State Pension so to the extent remitted to Thailand is assessable and should be declared here and in the UK. But these allowances seem to take much of the sting away. Does one simply claim all that are applicable in this example and add up the total, that total figure being where the tax bands with a positive % charge apply?
  11. Me too. What does it mean ? Who is influenced ? I think that these "influencers" on social media make money from what they say, inviting not just comments and emojis but donations too. The influenced duly oblige! Extraordinary.
  12. True but have you seen the depth below the waterline of the vast cruise ships? Not much against the staggering number of decks above.
  13. That is the Pattaya Beer Garden. It's on Google Maps. Tucked away down a walkway where Beach Road ends with beer bars that used to be boxing rings one side, beach the other. It is huge but I find the ambience good. Excellent food at a fair but not cheap price every time I've been. I think it is expected that you order some food. Has wine by the glass as well as in bottle. Good table service. Huge long bar singles can sit at in the centre. Most tables on the waterfront have great views right along the bay. Lighting is low at these after dark so they bring a little lamp to see menu and your food. Open fronted kitchen so you watch the chefs at work. Toilets somewhat basic. Music videos are constant, mostly rock, on video screens & sound system in the central area but you can have a conversation without shouting. Sorry I think I just wrote a review!
  14. Binary computer coding 'in it😆
  15. Congratulations on reaching a magnificent 90 years. Best of luck with the dentures. I have no idea yet,I'm only 70 and stool have most if my teeth. A few are crowns
  16. Very nice thought but don't give rice. The one thing probably not short of.Something they can use is best. And make sure to do so publicly. Otherwise who knows whether it will end up where it should, with the children.
  17. There's an app with the sound of the fire crackling and burning. Sounds a bit alarming in surround sound😂 Is that what you have?
  18. Cosy fre....and a fan! Love it Up here in Isaan it's freezing, well not quite but cold. Bobble hats and puffer jacket for mother in law. Even I have socks and slippers on❄️
  19. On departure airside, yes. Done it many times both at Suvarnabhumi and Paris CDG. I particularly like the Air France ones for the ambiance, food and drink, also used by KLM, at both airports. Etihad is good. Thai not so good. Way back I used to fly EgyptAir business because it was cheap. Awful, well it was cheap! but still way better than economy with any airline. I don't think they are still operating the route though. Same with Royal Jordanian with whom I flew once, again because the deal was sweet. They have a vast business class lounge but the food and drink is not up to much and the transit time too long. I think only Air France and Thai offer direct flights to and from Paris. With KLM you would have to fly to Schiphol, Amsterdam and transit there to Paris. Their business class lounge at Schiphol is huge and very pleasant, the cuisine Dutch of course. On arrival most airlines don't want to know as soon as you leave the aircraft and so don't offer any such thing unless you are in transit. Etihad do offer a lounge for final destination business ticket arrivals at Abu Dhabi, with showers. Never tried it, always just a transit never a stop over.
  20. I think you worry too much. Navigating UK Immigration is becoming ever more challenging and expensive but once a visa is granted and successfully used at the UK border I seriously doubt there would be any follow up except for any overstay noted at exit when she might be fined and blacklisted. Then your card might be marked as an unsuitable sponsor in the future. Otherwise they are too busy trying to catch and immediately deport illegals coming over The Channel in boats aren't they from what I read ?
  21. Yes, but sticking my neck out here, 20% of the anticipated 10 case purchase is 2 cases. A massive drop in sales if repeated all the way down to the consumer. I wonder how it will be for Songkran?
  22. Weird isn't it? Brown skinned leaders with immigrant antecedents baying to stop immigration in to the UK. Leaving the EU and it's freedom of movement didn't stop that, the numbers from the rest if the world previously about half the total now fill that gap+++ Why?
  23. Yes I agree. An essential not just with the Christmas turkey but with roast chicken too. My paternal grandmother used to do excellent Sunday lunch with roast chicken. Always bread sauce. Fell in love with it then, probably aged about 4. She also did lovely teas with the star being a wonderful Victoria sandwich cake filled with strawberry jam and whipped cream, the proper stuff not the aerosol kind. I don't think that was even available back then. Crossy's competing post here with another AI list does have bread sauce at no.8
  24. I think so too. Nd vice versa. Seem to remember signage at departure point at Suvarnabhumi stating the need to show a valid ticket
