  1. 555. That includes one or two nights Nana?, one for fun, one to recover is enough! Otherwise not fit to fly.
  2. Quite. Isn't that a matter entirely for the Thais to decide ? Their country, they make the rules....often locally in country 555. UK it's 6 months from the get go, Europe Schengen zone countries ( any and all) it's 90 days, both maximum stay with no return for 6 months UK, 90 days Schengen zone
  3. Wow! Yes a conservative risk averse % return pre 2008. Indeed a return on which I, self employed nearly all my working life, had based funding for my retirement which would with the meagre UK state pension have provided a comfortable but not excessive life style without eating too much capital. Since the global financial crash of 2008 returns on " safe" investments have been more like one big fat zero and in to the negative once fees are taken. Only those lucky enough to have a corporate terminal pay based pension can say they are quids in.
  4. Anonymous tip off. I loathe these. Anyone with a grudge can do this with absolutely no come back if proved wrong yet having brought down a shedload of worry and hassle, perhaps expense, on their hapless victim and family. The Stasi of Communist East Germany thrived on these anonymous tip offs. If someone is going to do this and the police decide to act in it they should be required to identify themselves to the victim, the police and the media and be prepared to face the consequences of being wrong, especially maliciously wrong.
  5. They want our money, oh yes, and have finessed how to relieve us of it down to a fine art. But it seems they don't want us so much.
  6. But I think most of the nationalities you mention speak at least some English as I guess do serious Thai tour guides along with some other languages, not so much the boat and minivan ones. Certainly the proper guides I've met here in the past Then as a tourist spoke English well. Then there are those prerecorded portable machine guides programmed in many languages with headphones for the user. Common in Europe. Not seen those here....but I haven't been looking!
  7. He's German. A nation notorious for going naked especially the older ones male and female on a beach or even in a communal garden. Back to nature they say and not a pretty sight all that low hanging fruit! Treen beach in Cornwall UK. Not a nudist beach but difficult to get to and covered at high tide was very popular with them back in the day when I holidayed there with young children in tow. " Ooh Daddy look at them tackle out, can we?" And decades ago now whilst staying with some German friends in Nuremberg I was invited to take and took a naked sauna in their private sauna built in the basement followed by a naked roll in the snow and beating each other with willow sticks in the communal back garden overlooked on all sides. Peculiar? Crazy? As a Brit I certainly thought so but I also thought you only live once mate. It was fun and funny, and just to make things quite clear the girlfriends were watching from a balcony above us.
  8. Oh boy! That's back to what I and wife were told when this very suddenly became an immigration "thing". Couldn't go anywhere for even in theory 1 night out and a room so as not to drink and drive without triggering the need for a TM 30. At that time our office was a 2.5 hr drive each way so wife refused to do them. End of. Surprisingly as far as I am aware there were no consequences at extension time. I certainly did not pay any fine.
  9. He's got a personal political war going against Anutin. When he first started up it was not about weed, but corruption in low and high places. Frankly I'm weary of both of them now. And wasn't he in a previous life heavily involved in the " entertainment" industry? Go go go bars and such?
  10. I entirely agree. And that's the problem looking at this from our side of the fence. No consistency. Certainly not with the actual rules as I understand them. It seems to me my recent experience is logical. Others experience at the mercy of either an individual IO or local office "policy" is not at all, other than sadism and the income from levying ( illegal) fines. That said, it happens in other countries too. Post brexit Brits in France are finding some local immigration offices (prefectures) and staff are levying fees when they shouldn't be.
  11. Investigation after investigation after investigation. If it not the RT cops it's the IB cops and it seems the investigations are by either cops ...or cops by any other name. Systemic problems that will never go away. Best ignored then. Just keep calm and carry on. Not unlike, it's reported after a damning investigation and report released there, the Met in London. Systemic there too. It seems things haven't changed since the gritty but fictional series The Sweeney. I haven't heard of mysogynistic cops here. Abusing, murdering cops ( plastic bags and other forms of torture leading to alleged miscreant's death). Anyone point me to systemic mysogynism in the cops here too?
  12. Totally agree. My Facebook feed has many coy "come ons" with no prices for service or accommodation being offered. Usually these are Thai businesses, the ads in Thai. Foreign run ones using English in their ads are far more likely to quote a price or a link to their price list. Even a local and very new resort doesn't show prices. Those who ask in a comment are invited to phone. That may be because they want to remain flexible and/ or ready to barter down on the phone, it may also be because they will offer a Thai a lower price than a foreigner.
  13. Having recently installed then used the Immigration Bureau app for doing online 90 day reports and doing a report for the first time in 10 years of coming and going here it seems to be a very simple thing of itself and to use. I got the impression that probably all it does is use the information you are asked to input to auto fill the form, sending a copy to you by email and a copy to presumably the Immigration Bureau local to your registered address. A few days later I received another email telling me I had successfully reported with a downloadable confirmation and next due date which looks exactly the same as the one stapled in to passport if you do this in person or when applying for a year's extension. I wonder if I will get an email reminder near the next due date. Some say yes. Some say none received. Is the app. just a postbox?
  14. Not even a trip out of Thailand I was told last July at Kalasin IB when wife and I attended to do the TM30 as coming in on a new visa. Provided you are returning on a re entry permit and still have time to run in your permission to stay. The permit wouldn't be valid if you didn't. Whilst without it any permission to stay is cancelled on exit. So I got the re entry permit from them. Left Thailand for UK coincidentally just before the 90 day reporting window closed. Came back 3 weeks later and was stamped in until expiry of current permission to stay. Applied to register for 90 day online report. Accepted. Did the online 90 day report as soon as I could. Details accepted and completed application form emailed to me. 3 days later another email with confirmation of 90 day report and a downloadable notice of this with due date for next one. Would I have had that if my departure and return triggered the need for a fresh TM 30?
  15. Waiting on a very small cashback right now. According to my Agoda account that is
  16. I believe the number does not/ cannot be changed. The card does have to be renewed. There is an expiry date on it.My dear wife has lost hers more times than I can count, requiring a visit to our amphur to get a new one, with new photo. Number stays the same. So if you or the authorities are looking for someone the ID number is a good start as to current location!
  17. There was a covered ground level car park just before the Thai border. I can't remember the charge but it was per 24 hrs paid in advance. This was in 2019. No Kor Ror 2 needed then. This also was not required for an in Thailand application but now is: understandable as it is proof that the marriage still continues or it wouldn't be issued. An "invitation " letter, signed and dated by my wife saying in Thai that she is asking me to visit as soon as possible at - address of place of stay ( our home here) - and requesting I be issued with a visa, addressed to the Ambassador was required. Did the OP mention this? My wife hand wrote this. It was accepted.
  18. I didn't either for many years, coming and going, living in different places, different rentals. Non O retirement plus extensions, then non O marriage based. No issues. Suddenly announced it needs doing within 24 hrs of arrival or a fine( perhaps the fine income stream needed? who knows why ). Then utter confusion as to the circumstances that trigger the requirement. Every time you leave your habitual address, even for 1 night "down the road" and return? Only if you go to and return from a different Province? Only if you leave Thailand and return? Only for foreign tourists staying in hotels, condos, as your guest, for a holiday ( more reasonable)? It's still not clear because different Immigration offices, even officers in the same office, will tell you different things about this obligation. Currently mine tell me: 1. if you have a private address in Thailand as a foreigner the person named as housemaster in the Blue property registration book for the house/condo/room where you live must do it, and yes within 24 hours of your arrival there, or face possibility of a fine. But this is only required the first time you take up occupation there not for temporary trips away anywhere within Thailand not even if you leave and return to Thailand, definitely not for a night out in your local town with an overnight in a hotel. 2. It must also be done if you leave Thailand and re- enter on a new visa or visa exempt as this breaks the continuity of your previous permission to stay. Seems to work as I've been away for a night, for a week or longer in Thailand and exited and re - entered on a re entry permit, then done an online 90 day report with this address without my wife doing another TM 30.
  19. Ah you mean because it's Ramadan? A very tough call that one.
  20. Yes, 150 baht for each 24 hrs from time of ticket issue. So even if you entered at 9.40 am Sunday and returned at 9.50 Monday that would be 300 baht. Having gone in to a second 24 hr period you could have stayed until 9.40 Tuesday
  21. A number of American literary classics. Not just books but recognised classical art. A school head teacher in Tennessee was forced to resign or be sacked because she put up a photo of Michael Angelo's sculpture of David in an art class for 12 & 13 year olds. It famously is nude with detail of David's genitalia and buttocks. Some parents had complained and the governors admitted that they were staunchly in favour of Republican right wing Christian values. At this level of prejudice it's difficult to distinguish them from the Muslim extremists.
  22. At hotels and if with my wife I often get her to check us in. Only her ID card needed and that's not always either. Even so I carry my passport other than for very local trips.
  23. Implemented? The demented Suella Braverman current UK Home Secretary dreams of the day she sees a flight full of boat people refugees who have done this without a visa taking off for Rwanda where she very recently visited to inspect the housing facilities pronouncing them very nice homes. And her Illegal Immigration Bill is currently passing through parliament. This would oblige Home Secretaries to send them somewhere other than the UK and ban them from ever seeking refugee or asylum status in the UK.
